Online check in

I used it in 2011 and went smoothly. We may have used it in 2010, too, but I don't recall. They've pretty efficient at Pop so it doesn't take long to check in once you're there.

We've used it the last few times we've gone to POP and it's worked great! We plan on doing it again, soon, at AoA.

You just get in the line for online check in and they have your package all ready for you.:goodvibes

I used online check in for 4 rooms last year.

what a mess that was. and took forever to get it corrected.

I booked all 4 rooms using my credit card. wanted those rooms linked together.

we were all spread out in the resort. (50. 60. 70 & 80)

I would think that when traveling with families you would put them in the same building at least.

I have an upcoming trip and I am afraid to do online check in

If you have room requests that will make or break your trip, such as having your rooms close together, then you shouldn't do online check in. You should check in at the front desk where they can discuss the available inventory with you and you can decide on rooms that fit your needs.

I seldom make room requests, so online check in works well for me. I've used it for every stay but one since they started offering it. I would have used it for the one - but it was for BLT on opening day and they didn't let anyone do online check in for that day. I have received good locations and views for my stays and I doubt if I've spent five minutes between arriving at the resort and heading for my room.

Ditto.

The PP should have waited to check-in and should have told the CM they were willing to wait for rooms in order to be placed in the same building.

And she should not assume that every family wants to be placed together; there have been posts here where people ask for an opinion on how to request being placed "not so near" each other. The room assigner should not have to assume anything; if one booked the same room under one credit card, it just means they are paying for everything.

In addition, it depends on when you check-in. If the week is extraordinarily busy, and you check in before most people check out, they cannot possibly place you all together.

Loved it. No one was in line so I walked right up and got my packet and keys and was out the door in a matter of minutes. Yet the regular line had about several people waiting in line.

We always use online check in no matter what Disney resort we are at and have not had any issues and it was was faster than the regular check in line.

Did you have more than eight people? Then you could have done a Grand Gathering which is what we did in January with a total of ten people in four rooms. I didn't do online check in because of the four rooms but things were absolutely perfect - four rooms right in a row, the two for the older folk did not connect but the two for my son and his family and my husband and I did connect. It was a fantastic trip.

Has anyone used the online check in for POP? And if so how did it go?

I use it all the time. The one time I didn't (see post above), we had to stand in line for almost twenty minutes just to get to the desk. But I had a special request for my dad in a wheelchair so I wanted to make sure he got a first floor room.

But all the other times, I've done online check-in and I've never had problems. I don't make special requests, though. I'm going to All Stars in a few weeks and I do have a king bed request in there (the Cast Member suggested it) but if I don't get it, I don't get it.

But please don't use online check in if you HAVE to have a certain building or floor or whatever things you just HAVE to have. The purpose of online check in is to show your photo ID, get your parking pass (if applicable), and your packet and then you leave. It should take about a minute. You shouldn't be up there getting your room reassigned because you didn't get what you requested.

I've used it twice and it was great. When we were there in Feb of this year, our flight was delayed 3 hours so it was about 7pm by the time we checked in...no wait at all which was really nice because at that point all I wanted to do was get the stuff dropped off in the room and get something to eat!

We used on line check in in May when we went. We had a preferred room and were given a couple options to choose from. We had never been before and marked 60's building 1st floor. We did get 60's building but 3rd floor. IN the end we loved the room location. It was very quiet and a great court yard view with a bit of lake view. We had a 1st floor room at ASmusic and found it to be very noisy with people walking back and forth to the pool.

Ours went smoothly for the most part. We've had one year where they had us in 2 different buildings, we have 5 children so it really wasn't something we could deal with for a week. They managed to find us 2 connecting rooms once I told them I'd rather not be split from my husband all week.

Last year it took about 20-30 minutes to check in, but it was because the Magic Express unloaded at the same time we got there and so there were a LOT of people checking in and they'd all done online check in.
