I know there have been threads on this before but I can't find them.

We are checking into the BWV on Sunday :goodvibes and I was wondering about online check in. I am really hoping to get my waitlist for Boardwalk view (currently garden view). Here is my question: what has been peoples expereince with getting a 'better' room if they do online check in or not? Also we have a ressie for the frist night then a different one for the next 4 nights, I really don't want to have to switch rooms so will we be better off just waiting till we get there? TIA

Have Member Services remark your reservation with your requests. From you post it's not clear if you hope to be moved from a Garden View to a Boardwalk View at check in. Wait lists are processed prior to check in by MS, not by the resort.

We are currently on a waitlist, I just talked to MS yesterday but your saying I should have them put a note on there as well? I was just wondering if I might get a better view if I check in at the resort, and then there is also the issue of having two reservations. If I do online check in will I have less of a chance that they will link them therefore more of a chance that I might have to switch rooms. I hope I made that more clear.

All waitlists end 7 days in advance of arrival. So if you are arriving this coming Sunday, you aren't on a waitlist anymore. The only alternative is to try calling Member Services periodically to see if anything has opened-up.

Aside from that, booking category and requests are two separate issues. If you aren't booked into the BoardWalk View category by the time you arrive at the resort, you won't be getting it.

Your requests (if any) should be structured more toward the Garden/Pool view you have reserved. Requests may include things like a preferred location within the resort or floor. The desire to have a BoardWalk View isn't a valid request for a Garden/Pool view reservation.

As for using on-line checkin, reports suggest that people using the on-line option have a greater chance of getting into their room immediately upon arrival. But I don't think there is any real indication of whether the on-line option leads to greater chance of receiving ones requests or not.

Online check in question?

I am renting points and I am currently 9 days out. However, when I try to check in online it won't let me it says for me to try my request later. Am I doing something wrong?

OK, I was NOT impressed with online check in, which we did for our stay this week at SSR and BCV. Sure, it was easy and quick to do. But we didn't get our requests for either place, and that's the first time we haven't gotten our requests. I can understand with BCV, since it's at capacity right now. But SSR was not. And with online check in, your key cards are already issued and rooms assigned, so the CM's don't seem to be as receptive to checking to see if a change could be made. Just my opinion, but I don't think I'll do online check in in the future, since it seems to be mostly for the benefit of DVC.

Has anyone had trouble with being able to write a request in the online check in form? I checked in for our reservation for Kidani tonight and I couldn't get that part of the form to work. :confused3 I eventually just gave up. Our flight doesn't land until after midnight so I figure the odds of getting a request are slim anyway.

That part of the online check-in doesn't work for DVC bookings. Any room requests have to be added to your reservation by Member Services prior to checking in. If you want to request something that isn't annotated on the booking, you should check in manually. Or, if you've already checked in online and don't like the room they've assigned you, you can always ask to be moved.

At midnight, you're probably right that there won't be a lot to choose from. You can ask to be moved the next day, but keep in mind that they may assess a room cleaning fee.

I tried the same thing when I checked in "online" a few days ago. I had this area whitted out. On a post about this I was told this has not worked for DVC members. I called MS and had them add the request to our reservation..smjj
