I'm curious for the future about online check-in for DVC members, are there any advantages of doing it, if so what are they? I like the excitement of standing in line waiting my turn to get welcomed home, and then receiving my stay packet.

Online check in is a Disney product for regular hotels and resorts. Like so many things built for others, DVC included it in their offerings. That's why the request section doesn't work for the DVC and if you segment a reservation you can't use online check in.

We find that it saves us little time and often the special online check in line takes longer than the regular line.

We've used online check in and had friends staying in another room who did not use online check in a few times. We didn't notice any difference in the amount of time we spend checking in vs our friends. I think the only advantage is that your room key is pre-printed.

We've used the on-line check in and actually found it saved us quite a bit a of time when we used ME from the airport. Several guests would get off the bus at the same time and rush to the front desk to stand in line. We'd just go down to the on-line check-in line and probably save about 20 minutes wait or so.

But really, there's no great benefit to using it.

I like the excitement of standing in line waiting my turn to get welcomed home, and then receiving my stay packet.

On-line check-in doesn't change that. You still get welcomed home and still get your packet. If you like standing in line waiting then I'd pass on it.
