Online Check-In Lesson Learned

We checked in for Alaska last night promptly at midnight. I used the same pictures for DS and me from January. The website also conveniently remembered our passports, or maybe it just read them correctly this time. I had a lot of issues before.

I added DH, and I was done by 12:15. We have boarding group 3 and a 10:15 PAT.

May I ask how you are getting to port? For Port Canaveral it appears that PAT availability differs based on whether you are using DCL transportation or not.

Currently we are driving. I agree that is what it looks likes from comments. I priced parking at the airport and taking the transfer. The parking was the same so I decided it wasn’t worth the extra cost. Now pricing hotels at the port verse the airport it might turn out cheaper to use the transfer. I need to price what it cost to use the transfer to compare the cost options.

If you're using DCL transport, you do not select a PAT. We are being picked up at Old Key West for our June cruise and were automatically assigned a PAT of 10:15-10:30 with boarding group 3.

So for Alaska cruises we can get early PAT even without using DCL transportation.

Sorry, I missed that. I saw you reference Port Canaveral so I thought that was what you were talking about.

I didn’t even realize there was DCL transportation in Vancouver! But yes, early PAT is available.

When we were at Port Canaveral in January, our PAT was 1045, so not too much later. Although we had a terrible boarding group (6 vs 3). Everyone who reports not having to wait surprises me as we sat there for an hour waiting to board!

I'm seeing a lot of people saying you don't pick a PAT with Disney Transportation. I'll just point out that when I did online check-in for our cruise at the end of the month, I had the transfers booked and still was prompted to pick a PAT. So DCL transfers don't always equate to no PAT selected. (Last Thanksgiving, we also took DCL transportation and did NOT get prompted to pick a PAT.)

I mean, I was prompted to select one, but it defaulted to 10:45-11:00 (at the time I had MCO - PC transfers) as the first choice. It assigned me BG 6.

When my TA changed my pick-up to Riviera, the system auto-changed my PAT to 10:15-10:30 and auto-changed my BG to 3 without my doing anything.

Ok, after reading this back, I did switch over my reservation at the hyatt mco to disney. That makes sense then why the earlier PAT became available.

@elittleton I had periodic problems uploading photos early this morning when I tried to check in and none of the photos were cropped. I think sometimes their system just gets overwhelmed and can't handle the traffic.
