Online check in at DVC resorts

Thanks for the quick answer! I guess this means that I will check in for both rooms at the same time.


If you log in to DVC member site and look at the news....then click on moer news...the Online check in is mentioned there. :)
 
We will be at BWV starting Jan 4. I know the news says checkin beginning 10 days before checkin - but the service isn't due to start until Jan 09. Hmm - do you think it will be working starting right on Jan 1 so we can use it for our trip? Just curious - thanks!

Why not try it on the 1st? If it's not available, then try the next day, or even the 3rd day (Jan.3).:thumbsup2
I read the "up to 10 days before" more like within 10 days. :confused3

So can I just clarify..........this is for both DVC and non-DVC resorts as of January?
Do we register on line at the DVC website? And where for non-DVC resorts?

No where in the info on the online checkin system does it say that rooms will be assigned when you checkin online.

The announcement on the web site mentions entering room requests, which implies that those will be taken into account when rooms are assigned. Again, as others have mentioned, whether that increases or decreases the chance of getting a request remains to be seen.
 
I just got off the phone w/ online check in, and the woman I spoke with said that it is easier to get your reservations taken care of via phone, because you are getting "real-time" answers, if you do take advantage of the website, it will take longer and may not get the info you need. hope that helps a bit.

Making DVC room reservations, and the online check-in being discussed here are two completely different services.

The new online check-in means just prior to your arrival you actually check-in to the resort via internet...giving your credit card number and other pertinent information to avoid longer lines at the front desk.

That is different from submitting a reservation request to DVC Member Services by email.

THANK YOU! My bad....but gee thanks for the heads up that is fabulous!!!! How awesome is that! I am a new DVC'r by the way...so excuse the ignorace. ;)
 
I called today and asked about online check-in and was told it will not start as planned and that it is on hold indefinitely and no information as to why was available.

Why?

Because it's the DISNEY IT shop?

Dining has been screwed up for MONTHS while they "improve" the booking engine.

My "vacation details" have not been viewable for over a month while they "work on the known problem" that they made while doing something else!

They are going to "redesign the website" The one that making a basic hotel reservation on is just a nightmare!

Personally I am shocked that folks are so eagar to do this. I would wait a while. Disney's IT shop seems to be pretty bad. My expectation is that they will manage to screw this up and it will go from "on line check in" to "opps deleted that reservation";)
