Online check-in and room requests

I have some specific requests that I plan to make known when I initially reserve a room at ASMu. If I online check-in, I know I can designate a couple pre-set requests, but I really want a room adjoining my parent's room and I have a few other requests as well that might not be covered in the online check-in. Would it be better to wait until we get there or check-in ahead of time? Is there an option to check-in by phone to make my requests known?

Before you request "adjoining" please make sure that is what you mean. Adjoining means next to (or possible diagonally or around the corner) but WITHOUT a door between. If you mean you want a door between the two rooms internally you need to use the phrase "connecting rooms". There are almost always people who start yelling at the front desk workers - either at Disney or at other hotels - who discover that they don't have connecting rooms...but they do have adjoining rooms.

It's better to put requests such as that on by phone as soon as possible. Do keep in mind however, that the more requests you have on the reservation the harder it is to meet those. So it's best to limit it to one or two, MAYBE three - and if you go with more than one to make it clear the priority order you want them in. Such as "Top priority is connecting rooms. Second request would be close to the food court."

And just remember that no matter what the phone agent tells you, requests are just that. REQUESTS. They are not guaranteed.

You can still do online check-in, but I would just ignore the request portion as it does not prioritize and may override what you already have had placed on the reservation.

If you want connecting rooms, your best chance of getting that is to make that your only request. The more requests you pile on, the harder it becomes for the assignor, and most of them will roll their eyes, drop you in wherever, and carry on.
