Online Check-In: A Guide

Slightly off topic, but I have always ordered champagne and chocolates (or similar) in a sail-away type package for our room and was kind of surprised that Honolulu wasn't not listed as an option for ordering. I am PIF and usually do PIF at booking either because I was paying with DVC points or last minute or just to get those all-important air miles, so I'm not sure when the capability to order In Room Gifts pops up. It's always been a option for me under my circumstances..

We didn't use a TA, so we had no problem modifying online. (I "modified" about ten times: Changed sail dates, changed rooms, input passports, changed dining time, changed to concierge and back again.) So maybe this is a sort of hidden benefit of NOT using a TA? You can input passport info in advance . . .and modify to your heart's content?

And to the OP: We have been paid in full for months, so the ability to modify has nothing to do with paid in full, I would guess. Seems to me you can modify if you made the reservation yourself -- and if you're NOT concierge. You can't modify online if you're concierge. In my experience.

Exactlly, Micandminforeve! I rarely use a TA, but this was a special trip so I cannot do any modifying, plus it is a GTY so I'm just praying that all will go well when I try to do my online checkin in a couple of weeks. I'm accustomed to doing everything myself. But I got a great price, so I'm not complaining'!

On-Line check-in shouldn't be any problem at all. We've done it with OGT and everything was smooth as silk.

Just want to add. I just did online check in. First, I went straight to the Activities tab & got Palo. Not going to Castaway Cay or that would've been my first stop.
AFTER booking Palo, I went to the Check In tab & entered info, got my PAT & printed out my signature form.
You do not need to do online check in before booking a cabana or Palo

I don't believe so. I have never tried to order prior to PIF, just because there was no need to order it that far ahead. So I can't say definitively, but I am pretty sure you don't need to be PIF to order.

Excellent. Thank you! I must have mis-read or mis-understood in all the stuff I've read on the boards. I was under the impression that the system forced you to enter a bunch of tedious info (unless you knew these work-arounds) before you get to what we all consider the more urgent things (Cabana, special dining, etc.) I've got my Online Check-In tonight so once I go through the process I'll be able to update the working Draft even more. Appreciate everyone's help!

Thanks! From what you and others are saying, it seems the difference in being able to modify online only comes down to whether or not the ressie was made w/ a TA. Good to know. We gave all our passport info to the TA, so I know that info's already in there. I'm a lot less stressed about this now since people here are saying that you don't even have to worry about getting all that info in the system anyway before being allowed to book the important stuff (for us, that's Palo brunch and an excursion). But yeah, I can see what you're saying, too... if a person likes more control over their reservation, then not having a TA is a 'benefit'. For us, still being sort of newbies, I appreciate the hand-holding I get from my TA (And also the onboard credit!)

Just wondering- did you use a TA? I'm starting to think that people who use a TA aren't able to click 'modify' and make the changes that others are describing...? Or maybe there is some other reason, but I know that I and at least one other person who posted here (and we both used TAs) aren't able to modify anything... Thanks!
