Online ADR's: What about DVC?

So, why can't DVC members use our ressie #'s to book online? I'm slightly ever confused about this.

The on-line system simply doesn't recognize our ressie #'s as valid. When you enter them, you get the following error message:

The reservation(s) you were trying to retrieve cannot be found. Please check that the information you provided is correct.

So while we can book at precisely 90 days out from the ADR date, we CAN'T book 90+10 (ie: book all our reservations, up to 10 days from our arrival date). It doesn't give us those dates, because it doesn't view us as having a "valid" reservation for that time frame.

I've never been able to find my DVC reservations on the WDW website under "My Disney Vacation". There's a spot there to type in your reservation number. When ever I try it most always get "Sorry, we are not able to display your reservation at this time. Please try again later."

I think (though I don't know for sure) that it's the whole link between CRO and DVC reservations that's broken, not just the ADRs.

Maybe? :confused3

I suspect that's close to the truth.

I don't think the WDW web site is set up to enter DVC ressies...I think that your ressie not working on the WDW site, in "My Disney Vacations", is a design choice. They just had no intention of ever "tracking" DVC vacations there.....

But I also suspect that they used the same control in the ADR system. It LOOKS exactly the same and is probably a "tool" in their web development kit. Then, either nobody picked up on that design flaw (which would scare me), they ignored the design flaw in the interests of catering to the CRO segment (which would anger me), or they just screwed up and didn't "repoint" the control to a shared database (which would offend me, professionally). In any event, whoever designed the testing standards wasn't having their best day...since using Travel Agent's as beta testers basically ensures that you don't EVER test DVC functionality within the system.

In any case, the system, as a whole, seems to function quite well. Which, I think, annoys me even more because I'd REALLY prefer to use it, rather than the call in alternative...and I can't!

I wonder if that means that DVC will have its own form of online ADRs given that our vehicle of tracking our reservations is "supposed" to be through MS and the DVC member website? I just cannot believe that with all of Disney's masterminds that someone didn't mention something about DVC during the deveopment process...which leads me to believe that they intentionally disregarded DVC members. I'm officially having my first DVC entitlement moment. :upsidedow

My understanding is that the reservation systems used by CRO/WDTC and MS are completely separate---down to the reservation numbers themselves having completely different formats.

At least for a while, if you called DRC to make 90+10 (or 180+10) reservations, they'd ask for your DVC reservation #, but never actually checked it to see if it was real.

When all is said and done, I do love the new system for ADRs 90 days and under. I've made 5 reservations for our upcoming trip tomorrow and our August trips! The funny thing is, I probably wouldn't have made any reservations at all (well, maybe one) if I had to keep calling in. :cool1:

So, smart move on Disney's part. It's just too frickin' easy to make reservations now! I get the feeling that TIW card is going to get a lot of use this year.

And no, I have NOT put my TIW information in my profile on the WDW web site. Just in case. :lmao:

Well, it does recognize them as a reservation #, it just can't use them.

If you put in your valid DVC res # and submit it with a phone #, you get this error:

The reservation(s) you were trying to retrieve cannot be found. Please check that the information you provided is correct.

If you change a res # digit, you get this error:

The reservation(s) you were trying to retrieve cannot be found. Please check that youve entered the correct confirmation number and the phone number you provided when making the reservation.

So, either
1) They are using a checkdigit and the res #'s can be validated (but not found)
2) They can find them, but choose not to allow us to use them for some reason.

It's funny, I was just mucking around after some conversations in the "other" DVC ADR thread, and noticed the same thing.

I'm thinking it's #1, but wouldn't rule out #2.

There is a THIRD possibility, but I can't test it well. It could be the PHONE NUMBER causing the issue...some problem populating from DVC to this system.

I say that because, if I change the phone number to an invalid number, I get the first error (The reservation(s) you were trying to retrieve cannot be found. Please check that the information you provided is correct.), not the second.

Maybe it's finding the ressie based on number, but can't display it because of some issue with the phone number.....

They can definitely find them. Because if you call Disney Dining and give them your DVC reservation number they can locate all your Dining ADRs.

Success/Confirmation with DVC ressies!!

We just got off the phone with Disney Dining....which I should have thought of long ago.

They looked at our DVC reservation # in the ADR system and, sure enough, NO phone number associated with the reservation number. Field is blank in their system.

She updated the record and saved it, but isn't sure when (or even if) it will really update. I'll let you all know tomorrow morning when we try at 6 AM.

Here's hoping it works....

I made our adrs today for our Sept trip. I found the site very easy once we deceided what and where we wanted. We are 84 days out and got almost everything that we wanted around the time we wanted. The site didn't ask for any resort ressie info at all. but I was logged in with my disney.com user name and password.

Nope, so long as your inside your 90 days, it doesn't care. The issue is when trying to book the 90+10 (90 days from arrival + 10 days of your stay)...without a ressie number (which you CAN enter, FYI...just above the date select is a link for finding your ressie), you can only book at 90 days (or less) exactly..so you'd have to do day by day ADR's for your whole trip, or wait til 90 from your departure.

Update:
Even with the Disney Dining CM's intervention.....the ressie still won't come up this morning. :(

I'm travelling for the day, so...I'll post further exploits tomorrow.

The good news is that we got ALL our ADR's yesterday, for the times we've wanted.

I've updated the other threads with info on the other exploits. Essentially, it sure looks like the phone number is the issue, and it's likely due to something on Disney's IT side, not MS side.

We were finally able to talk to a lead who would listen, and has taken our feedback DIRECTLY to IT.

The online reservations only worked for one day for me (day one of our trip) but I got ALL of my ressies I wanted (including 4 party of 8's one being Le Cellier) at the times I wanted so I'm pleasantly surprised but still wish I coul have done it online.

Just to share:

Though she's aware that the issue is not really DVC's issue, my wife is composing a letter to Jim Lewis to express her displeasure in how this was handled. She's going to be clear that she realizes that it is an IT issue, but she feels strongly that since MS is supposed to look out for members best interests, that she feels her concerns are best expressed to him.

I doubt anything will come of it, and it will do no good, but maybe it will stick in someone's craw enough so that NEXT TIME something like this comes up, they'll think to test with some DVC members, or at least go through some testing involving DVC.

The system rollover for online is 6 AM Eastern - that is 3 AM if you are on the West coast.
