ONION HATERS unite!

Onions are vile, nasty little things better left to freaks who like tomatoes and zuchinni and eggplant. And salmon.

I like the taste, but they kill my stomach. I have to remove the skins of peppers and tomatoes to eat those.

I hate onions too!! With a passion.....
I don't cook with them, I don't eat them, I make sure everything I order anywhere does not have onions in it.

At holidays we cook three versions of stuffing and other items too.
Stuffing with onions for the family, without onions for me and my kids and without chicken stock (using vegetarian) for my sister the vegetarian......

My kids don't like onions because I don't like them. I don't really know if they have ever tried them by everytime we order burgers at fast food places we order 'hambburger without pickles and onions' it is funny to hear them say that because again that is what I don't like - they have never tried them.

But I am with you sister...... another onion hater here.
Onion haters unite!

:p Oy. My dh is right there with you onion haters (also scallion, leek, shallot haters). I'm a vegetarian. Yeah, cooking at my house is a ball.

I don't do onions in any way, shape or form. Hate garlic...don't do tomatoes when I can bite into a piece of one...no bell peppers either.

While we are on the subject...does anyone else hate cooked fruit?? I don't like any fruit that has been cooked...not apples, not bananas, not blueberries (I guess technically they are not fruits), not peaches...WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU COOK A FRUIT??? :confused3

Hmm.. so far we have a Lauri, a Laurie and a Lori as confirmed onion haters. I think it has something to do with the name. ;)

I too hate the nasty vile little things. I will pick them out if I see them, but I will generally eat things ie spag. sauce that they are in after their removal as long as they haven't left behind a really strong taste. Sauces are usually okay, but frozen dinners and veggies hold that flavor too well and I won't eat it.

If I order something in a restaurant that comes loaded with them I will send the dish back. There is a restaurant we frequent every summer on vacation. I always ordered the clam linguine. Imagine my surprise when one year it came with a huge amount of onions in it. Back it went and we have not gone back since.

They don't make an onion-free ragu???

There isn't a single jarred or canned spaghetti sauce on the market that doesn't use some form of onion or onion powder in it. Trust me - I have read EVERY label.

I make my own spaghetti sauce. It's yummy! I made up a batch last nite and used it in my baked ziti. :thumbsup2

How funny - we do that too. I have my "own" dressing made with no onions!

I like onions, but onions really HATE me! I can have them dehydrated and I can have the juices cooked in my food, but I cannot actually eat a real onion. Uncooked is the worst... and if I try to cut them, my eyes burn to a point where I have to leave the room. It's not a normal crying, it's a red, stinging OMG the pain type of feel.

Makes a lot of things hard to eat.

Now mushrooms are the other I could live w/o. I can't stand those and people are always adding them to sauces and the like... yuck!!!

No, I hate onions, and my mom on here is highly allergic.. We both hate them!!

Another onion hater here! I thought I was the only one! If I see them in something I try removing them with a fork (don't want my fingers to smell of them). If there's just too many to remove, I just won't eat whatever it is. The odor of them makes me nauseous.

Is it just me, or does it seem that when people find out that you don't like onions, they try to force them or sneak them on you by putting them into everything? Sometimes I won't eat anything unless I make it myself and know that it's onion-free.

Ew... I hate onions. I don't see why people feel the need to put those nasty onion flakes in everything... it makes it disgusting to me, lol... :stir:

Wow, I can't believe there are so many others who don't eat onions either! :grouphug:

I actually love onions, but as I've gotten older, they don't love me. My digestive system can't handle them any more. I'd have the same reaction as eating a can of beans. Not good for being in social situations later.

I have to ask for things to be made with no onions or scallions. Buffets are the worst as things are ALL made with onions in them. I've gotten used to having just oil & vinegar on salads there. :sad2:

And thanks to my onion hating, and everyone else's, I got tagged for it! :cool1:

:rotfl2:

Onions are OK, but I can't stand tomatoes. It's that smushy-ness that I just can't stand! I agree with others who say it's about the texture of some foods...ewww.

I'm mildly allergic to onions. I can eat them in small amounts cooked in food, but I cannot eat them raw. I can't even touch them - my skin will itch for 2 days.

I am very weird....

I HATE onions cooked in any of my food and cannot eat anything that a raw onion has even touched.

BUT, I like onion rings and French Onion soup.

Is that crazy?

Yep. That would be my Dad that does that to me. He will blatantly LIE about something not having onions in it to get me to eat it. Gee Dad, don't you remember paying for all of those ALLERGY SHOTS from the time I was 4 thru college???? :guilty:

My Dad thinks allergies are all in someone's head. :sad2:

I don't mind fried onions but I can't cut them up myself so I don't have them often. I cry like a baby within 5 feet of someone chopping an onion. lol
