Sounds good. I wasn’t sure if they would let me modify to replace my own points with ODU, but that would be ideal. Thank you!

As long as there is still a room to book and its 7 months or less from check in, you can use OTU points. What they will not let you do is book a night with your own points during home resort, and then buy OTU points to free up your own points if there is no more availability.

But, if you have the points to get 3 nights and want a 4th using OTU, then that is the way to go!

Sorry, one more question! What if I book at 8am with my points at the 7 month mark and get all three nights that I want. If there are no rooms left, can I call at 9am to buy OTU to replace my points or will they not do that because there are no more rooms left?

The only way to achieve it would be to call at 9 am, book a room that is available somewhere else, buy OTU points, then ask the CM to cancel it, and reallocate the points. They will not let you buy OTU points unless they are going in a reservation.

That is the reason some people take the chance and buy for a fake reservation ahead of time so they are there to use at the 7 month mark, or, in some cases, for a waitlist.

Having said that, there has been a report or two over the years that someone got a CM to let them purchase without the entire fake night scenario, but honestly, I doubt very many would know how to accomplish it, and if I was working with a hard to get room, with nothing left, I wouldn't chance it.

Thank you so much! That all makes sense. I think I will book 2 nights if I can and then call at 9 to buy OTU and try for the third. I‘d rather do that than pre-purchase and have points I won’t be able to use when I actually need them. Thanks again!
