One year ago today, with pictures

One year ago today KC was hit with one of the worst ice storms ever. People were without power for up to a week. The trees looked like someone had come along and said "no taller than this!" and cut off the tops. Some who didn't know any better tried to keep their generators from being stolen by keeping them in their garages, and then died.

We spent the night listening to the pops and thuds of our trees falling apart. One of our neighbor's trees fell into our yard. Another fell on our house, just missing the bedroom window. Another of ours fell apart completely. I never want to go through anything like that again!

Remember, in these pictures there is NO SNOW, it's all ice. We probably got 3 inches. The 1st is of the front yard, the last 2 are the backyard.

I do recall that storm, Sonya. WOW!!!!!

We had that same storm too, we didn't have electricity for about a week in our house, there were some around here that it took up to 2 months to restore power! The Red Cross was here distributing food and water etc for a long time. Glad we haven't been through that mess this year!

I remember that well, my aunt was one without power for a week! My mom only lost power for a day or so. What an awful storm.
