A year ago today my Dad lost his battle with cancer. He was 79 1/2. He had been battling it for 6 years and we thought he had won. My Mom is 78 and she is doing okay. I'm sure today will be hard for her. Wish I could be there but it is 100 miles away and I have to work. He actually died on Sun. morning so yesterday was a tougher day for me . Today seems more normal. Miss him so much. Just needed to share with someone other than family that would make me teary. Hope you have a good day!

Anniversaries, especially first ones, are always hard. I lost my dear Dad in 2003 and it still hurts... and he died on my birthday.

Your Mom is at an age that death is more commonplace so she may be getting through it better than you. She probably would enjoy a happy conversation about his life, not the fact that she lost him on this day.

Whatever you do make it a good day. Cry if you have to but do whatever it takes for you to survive it.

God bless,

Robinrs

 A sympathetic hug for you.

I understand. I lost my dad November last year to cancer.

I hope that knowing we care helps you with your sorrow.

:grouphug: I am tearing up right now just from reading this. I lost my dad in 2000 after a six year fight with cancer. It's always hard around the time of year he died. I won't say it will stop hurting because it never will completely, but it gets better. :grouphug:

Thank you all for :grouphug: I made it through okay . Just a couple of teary breaks. Called my Mom but got her answering machine. That is a good thing. it means she is out of her house doing something with friends. I'll be fine and be there to offer a :grouphug: To all who need one, anytime!! Thanks again , your kind words are so appreciated.

You are definitely not alone in your grief, I lost my father a year ago Thursday (7/27) from cancer as well, he was 80-1/2 years old. It was a hard time then and the emotions are definitely on the surface as we hit the one year anniversary.

Although the anniversaries get easier as you go, you'll never forget.

I lost my dad 7 years ago and my mom over 30 years ago. :sad1:

May the happy memories you shared with your dad bring you some comfort during this difficult time.

I'm sorry you're feeling so sad, I can't even imagine the loss you feel, I hope the loving memories will turn you're tears to smiles.

Big hugs to you. I so understand your pain. I spent last July caring for him in his final days and was so blessed to spend the last night of his life with him all night. I love to remember his voice and his kindness. I was a very lucky girl to be loved by someone like him. You are in my prayers and especially on the 27th. Don't dwell, remember good times. Hugs to you.
