We leave next Friday evening and everyone is sick! DD 2 started with the throwing up on Tuesday and is still having stomach cramps. DS 3mo has a runny nose, and DH and I are exhausted and have head colds too!

My biggest fear is that DS, DH, and I won't get the stomach stuff until next week and that we DH and I won't be rested enough to make the 20 hour drive!

I guess I should be happy this started this week and not next! Oh dear, someone please tell me I'll sleep again and that we will manage to get packed and be healthy by next Friday!

Thanks,
Amy

Us too! We'll be there 11/16-11/22, and we are so excited. But I ran fever all day yesterday (sinus stuff), and ds10 just showed up in my classroom sick with the same stuff. Hopefully, we'll get it out of the way and next week we'll feel great:goodvibes

I think you guys will be fine for your trip!! My 3 DD's are all sick now and have been for the past week. We leave on the 20th so Im hoping we will be in the clear by then!! Good luck!!

Oh December!
I'm sorry to hear you're family is in the same boat we are! It sounds like you are a teacher? I am too - and this stomach thing has been making the rounds at my school. I just returned to work on 11/1 from maternity leave and now I've already been out 2 days and missed parent/teacher conference Tuesday and Thursday evenings. (This is not as bad as its sounds I'm the music teacher and parents don't actually conference with me. I just help run the book fair, babysitting services etc... during conferences)

I had to stay home today and missed my chorus kids first performance (at a verteran's day assembly). I'm really bummed. I had everything planned out and wanted to have the house cleaned this week so I could begin packing tomorrow morning, but I haven't had the energy to do much of anything except the dishes! No one has slept more than 45 minutes at a time for 2 nights straight! I am just praying that DH and I don't get it next week or we will be sunk!

I hope you all feel better soon!

Thanks. I wasn't going to miss any days this year except for the one day I'm missing for the trip (Friday), but I've already missed 7! After Friday I'll have one sick day left for the rest of the year!

I am hoping and praying that we are well for our trip in less than 2 weeks,
I would rather in happen now then right before we go , so were not all miserable

I know the feeling. My son threw up Sunday, and my daughter had a fever today. We leave Thursday night, and I keep thinking I'm going to get sick on the trip. Usually I'm the only who gets really sick... everyone else gets over it in a day or two. Its my first trip, and it would be just my luck to get sick next week.

We leave in a little over 2 weeks and my baby is on a nebulizer. I hope we get the all clear when we go back to the doctor on Monday. He gets his second half of the flu shot on the 19th and I am so scared that he will pick up something else while we are there!
Hope everyone else has a great, healthy time!

I hope everyone feels better before they have to leave!

DD is still sick - stomach pains! She actually said this morning that she didn't think she'd be able to go to "Mickey's House" because she is too sick! It's so sad and pathetic, when they are little and they don't feel well.

DS has just stuck with a cold - so far - thank heavens!

Since DD allowed DH and I to sleep a couple hours at a time last night, I think we are both starting to feel a little better. Now if I can just get the house cleaned and us packed while still finding time to "cuddle" DD!

6 days until we leave for Disney! YEAH!!!!

Hope all of you get to feeling better. Enjoy your trip.

Hang in there! We just got back today. I had my DS to the Dr. 3 times before we left trying to get him well. I looked like a traveling pharamacy!!! Luckily, most of his problem stemmed from allergies and the Florida air actually did him some good and we had a wonderful trip!! Wishing you the same, sending some pixie dust your way!!! pixiedust:

Hang in there. I hope you are all well when you leave for WDW. Remember to bring jello as the only jello found in WDW is sugarless and it is horrible!!! We foudn this our the hard way after the stomach bug got us last trip. Only kidding good luck and I hope you are all well for your trip!!!

Try Airborne Pixie Packs for kids. My sons like them. They are like Pixie Sticks, but with natural Herbs and Vitamins to help their immune system. It was developed by a school teacher who was always getting sick. It's worth a shot. They are in the Medicine Aisle. They also make it for adults, but in a drink version. Make sure to pack all your meds. for your trip. Our last vacation my son was running a fever. Thanks goodness I packed Children's Motrin "just in case", because the only thing they had in the hotel gift store was a flavor he hated, plus they were charging almost twice as much!

I'm so sorry your family is sick! I know the feeling, we've got it in our house, too! We leave in 3 weeks, though, so I'm hoping everyone who's sick now gets over it by the 30th, and that noone else picks up a bug between now and then!

Right now I'm the worst - my cold turned into a sinus infection and laryngitis.

I didn't know Airborne came in pixie stick form! That is so cool! I never bought the tablets cause I thought for sure the kids would hate the taste. But I'll definitely try these out!!

:) :)

I love Airborne...... It always works like a charm for me. If anyone in my family starts getting sick or if I feel like I'm coming down with something, that always either prevents me from catching it or I don't get it as severe.

Thanks! I'll definately try the Airborne stuff. I always pack the entire medicine cabinet - I'm diabetic so we have a whole "med" bag that goes everywhere with us!

DD is doing much better today, she took a bath and she's currently eating cheerios and watch Sponge Bob! She's going to hang out at grammies today so I can run and do some last minute Disney shopping!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone!

Well, I thought she was doing better, but she just threw up again and is running a fever of 101!!!

My DH is off tomorrow, so he is going to call the dr, but I'm pretty sure it is a stomach virus and there is nothing they can do.

I read on line that it will most likely last a week (web md said "you can treat it vigorously and it will last 7 days or let it run its course and it will last a week" - ha ha NOT funny!)

I just needed to vent because I'm starting to really worry that she won't be well for the trip. She's going to be heartbroken if we can't go because she is sick. She's been talking about meeting mickey for months now. Her Gramma can't wait to spend the week with her... (Not to mention how upset I will be!)

Someone please tell me I'm overreacting and she'll be fine by Friday (or at least not throwing up and fever free?)

Thanks A.

Airbourne (lots of it) make sure that you take a prescription for Amox w/you, it was a pain in the butt to rent a car, find the publix w/a clinic in it(very nice & clean) rest rest rest -if it was me I would keep children out of school if possible. Good luck

Oh gosh! She'll be fine by Friday. Even if she's not, you will find a way to get through it and have a wonderful trip.

I think you're right about the dr - they're going to let it run it's course unless she's got signs if an infection or strep throat.

1. Give her meds to keep fever down. Alternating Tylenol and Advil every 4 hours works the best.

2. Give only light fluids (no food). She needs to keep the fluids in her, but if she's throwing up food she's going to throw up fluids, too. It might be time for Pedialite.

You're driving, right? (Although I guess this could apply to flying, too) No food past dinner time the night before, and give the minimum amount of water to keep DD hydrated. And fever meds. She should be ok on the way down.

You can do it!! Hang in there!!

Man its just that time of year. Dd has a nasty cough and has snotty nose. I hope its gone by the time we are ready to leave. I should would not like to have to carry a big box of tissue everywhere with us! But I might have to..

I hope your family is better for your trip.
