One week, 2 kids under 8, standard room?

Your other option that no one has mentioned yet is to rent points to stay at a DVC. When we first took DS (4 at the time), we also took my mom and we rented a 2 Bedroom at BWV and the price was half as much as it would have been had we gone through Disney. It was great because we each had our own room and DS could nap while we went about our activites during the day. Not to mention the benefits of having a kitchen and washer and dryer. This year, it was just DH, DS, and I and we again rented points but just a studio this time. Although it was cheaper than even getting a standard room (we had a savannah view studio at AKV and it was cheaper then using the 4 for 3 deal to get a standard view room at AKL), I wished we had done the 1 bedroom because DS still needed a nap most days and DH and I ended up sitting on the floor by the bathroom so he could sleep. My kids do not sleep well when they are not alone, so we pretty much always get a suite or villa whereever we go (Embassy Suites (wherever you happen to be) is great for this by the way!).

when we had kids that age, it was the space and stuff inthe room that really go to me. We got a Savannah room at AKL. Cheaper than the suites, but they could crash in the bunk bed; we could go out on the balcony till they fell asleep, and it felt like there was more space in the room.

We just got back from our first trip. We had 2 connecting rooms, we have 4 kids, so there were kids sleeping between both of the rooms, and when we would come in at night and it was still only 9pm or so, they would go right to sleep with lights on, TV on. And, you're right, you'll probably be ready to lay down too, we always were. We were fine, and that's how we'll be doing it again next year too. We had no problems at all, we were very comfortable.

We tried a standard room at POR two years ago...we were crowded (5 of us...2 adults, and a 9,3, 2 yr old) but we all were so tired we went to bed soon after the kids fell asleep...I also wear ear plugs at night. So it worked. Other options for families of 5 or more at Disney are very pricey!!!! In your case I think you would be fine in a standard room...or if you need too the family suite at All Star. It adds up though!

In our case, I think that its getting tougher with three kids in a room and now that they are older 11,5 and 4 we really prefer two rooms like a suite. This time we are going to stay in a huge 6 bdrm house in Windsor Hills!!! We'll see how that goes...everyone gets a room, a bathroom, a playroom, full kitchen, dr, lr and a pool! Yippy! And we are having family and friends with us....cost per night.....$200 divided by 4 = $50 per night ....priceless! :thumbsup2
