One Way Trip to Canada, Eh? FINAL THOUGHTS 08/10

Well, now that Jim and I came to an agreement about the old jeans he won't be wearing, and the not as old ones that will be okay, and which dress pants still fit him, his pile was a large as mine, so today I had a cancellation and I decided to use the time packing! :yay: I am all packed except for some toiletries and the FE gifts! I hit the travel bins at Walmart and stocked up on a few items - does the travel bin get anyone else excited with all the possibilities of things that come in tiny sizes? That makes me remember there is actually a whole website devoted to cute little ones: http://www.minimus.biz/PersonalCareMain.aspx

I did have a little help today - my little dog Bindi decided to supervise:

15 days until we sail! pirate:

UGH for trip nightmares, no fun at all!

But yay for new books to read and shopping progress (and four legged helpers)

:goodvibes

Hey! Welcome Back! Did you do a TR? I think I missed your pics on FB -'ll have to look for them. Did you have a great cruise?

havent done a TR yet. was thinking of doing a comparison like yours to disney, since the boys and I kept doing it the whole week LOL . I havent posted any pics either except for the few i posted while ON vacation.

1st - here's a link - he got PROBATION! :headache: Oh, and on top of that, Amazon only removed the book because of public outcry, and the notoriety made the sales of the bood SOAR!:mad::mad::mad: We live in a sick world. :sad2: He even looks creepy: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/os-pedophile-book-author-sentenced-20110406,0,6126016.story
wow.. what a scuze bucket. so sad

2nd - So sad about the lost CM. She was so young.

3rd - I think I will fill up a whole bag to check, too - and we are not flying SW. I am consoling myself with the thought that it will leave more room for souvies!:thumbsup2 We are shopping at DL for the grandkids - one DGS has a birthday on May 4, so we are doing his birthday shopping there. But I think we'll ship a box home from Calif. before we sail.
put a suitcase in a suitcase just saying... lol what you put in a case as fe gifts will then be filled up with your loot LOL remember that.

Thanks for coming back - the PTR is a little slow, but I hope the TR itself will be fun.

I think the Pre TR is half the fun, you get to hear all the excitement and you know us OCVP's get half the fun out of that LOL

Oh also I love the travel isle... its so much fun stocking up lol one day im gonna order all kinds of stuff off that website too.. just for the fun of it. oh but my most favorite miniture item is small liqure bottles.. lol

I am really enjoying reading this! I had looked at this cruise and would have loved to do it, but it just wouldn't work out. What WILL work out though is the Pacific Coast cruise next September, so I can't wait to see all the reviews of this cruise (up to San Fran anyway, since our cruise goes there, then to San Diego and Ensenada.) I've been looking at all the excursions that are offered and already debating which ones to take if they offer the same ones. I'm from the bay area (San Jose) but my DH has never been there, so can't wait for him to see it all.
Looking forward to all the TR of this cruise :)

I hope you do that comparison TR! I would love to hear your take on it!:thumbsup2 Plus, I need to know what trouble (er, encouragement) you stirred up! :rotfl2:

I think I will get by with checking a 3rd bag and no carry on, which will make Jim really happy:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for OCVPing with me! I do get alot of fun out of planning, and this time, we are kind of relaxed about it - I hope we can accomplish something and not feel like our times in port are wasted.

Yes, that reminds me - I'm giving away my little bottles - need to get more!

You'll fall in love with the California coast as you cruise past cliffs that plunge into the Pacific Ocean, lush green forests and legendary beaches like Malibu and Santa Monica.

In San Francisco, you'll see one of the most famous landmarks in the world—the stunning orange towers of the Golden Gate Bridge. While there, be sure to tour Alcatraz Island. Now a National Park, the island has a fascinating history. Before Alcatraz was a notorious prison, it was a 19th-century naval fortress.

San Diego is justifiably known for its bustling harbor filled with gleaming white sailboats, sunny weather and miles of sandy beaches. Cap your journey off at Ensenada—a sun-soaked paradise of pristine beaches, turquoise blue water and rugged mountainous terrain.

Shopping
San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter offers 16 blocks of Victorian-era buildings that house modern restaurants, boutiques and nightclubs. When in San Francisco, visit Fisherman's Wharf for an eclectic collection of souvenir shops in the historic heart of the city's fishing community. Nearby Ghirardelli Square and The Cannery are bustling centers of food, shopping and entertainment. Be sure to stock up on delicious Ghirardelli Chocolate at their flagship location!

While in Ensenada, be sure to explore Avenida Lopez Mateos and Boulevar Costero—2 parallel streets near the waterfront?that offer approximately 8 blocks of stores, boutiques, bazaars, galleries and roadside vendors selling all sorts of handmade goods.

Activities
In San Francisco, catch a ride on one of the city's iconic cable cars and see historic Lombard Street, the often-photographed road that zigzags its way up to Russian Hill. To learn more about the amazing visionary who founded the Walt Disney Company, tour the dynamic Walt Disney Family Museum.

If you're an animal lover, you have to check out the world-famous San Diego Zoo—home to over 4,000 creatures from over 800 species big and small. Swimmers and sun worshippers will enjoy Ensenada's many family-friendly beaches including San Miguel Beach, El Faro Beach and Estero Beach.

That looks like a fun itinerary! It should still be nice and warm in Sep, too! Maybe even in SF. Happy Planning!

With almost all my packing done, and just a few errands to run this week, I feel like I need an updatey update to keep you all reading (if there are any still reading;)) So I thought I'd play the one week from today game!

One week from today, we'll be enjoying our next to last night in Anaheim Hills. I'm guessing that this will be the day we choose to go to DL - hoping for a warmer day and lower crowds after Easter. Maybe at night we'll get to see this for the first time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lu8dxsbULQU&feature=related

I can't believe it will be chilly in Anaheim now - I was really hoping for some sunshine to warm my poor cold bones. Now it will be warmer in SF than LA. That is not too promising. Somebody please bring on the Global Warming!

Today we brought our travel trailer back from Eugene - we had it there to watch the DUCK games in the Fall, and then left it at friends, because every time we were going to bring it home it was snowing big time in the mountains. We still traveled through snowy views today - check out my Facebook page - posted from my phone. www.facebook.com/tammiemanfull

I am still reading!!! Happy One Week Dance!!! I am a little shocked that it is going to be chilly in Anaheim. I thought it was always warm there.

I'm still reading :surfweb:! Looking forward to the trip. BTW, the weather is cold here too, it was snowing here yesterday:sad2:

I was there last summer in July and we had coats on in the morning, I thought it was warm there all the time too.:lmao:

We got snow on Sunday but now it is just darn cold. To cold for this time of year.

This week will go fast for you I hope so you can start your vacation. :cool1:

Thank you, Jackie! I'm glad there are people still reading - I was starting to wonder if anyone cared what I'll be doing next week!:rotfl2: I think being close the the ocean, you can't really be sure what will roll in.

Thanks for being here! Sorry you're still cold too. I wonder if anyone will ever really have Spring. Today, it is sunny and 50, so that's nice.

It's almost here!!! How exciting!!!

I can't wait to learn more about the West Coast through your adventures!!! Hopefully it warms up down in LA- that's pretty crazy in late April!

Bindi is just too cute!!! :goodvibes

I told some other DISmoms, but I just had to share here, too. This morning I was having a TERRIBLE nightmare! :scared1::

I dreamed we were checking into the cruise, and because it wasn't PC, it was a crazy mess. I went up to the desk to check in, was given both keys and when I turned around, Jim was gone. There was just this mad rush of people everywhere! I went up the gangway, thinking somehow that Jim went to the cabin and was waiting for me. (I guess he didn't need a key to get on;)) Then I started walking around, and the ship was more like a Coast Guard ferry or something. I got to the hallway where our cabin was, but it was blocked off by a broken plate glass door with tape over it. I went around the corner to try to come up the other side, and it was blocked off by a "crew only" area, with crew members sitting at tables in front of the door.

I started walking up the deck, and then I saw we were already moving and the sea was really rough. I realized I had forgotten Jim's Meclazine and he was going to be sick. Thankfully, that is when I woke up! :rotfl2:

I don't usually have nightmares but I did have one before we left on the WBTA. I dreamt that I was tyring to get on the ship and realized that I did not have my passport and it was still in my lock box at home :scared1: Course, how I managed to get into Barcelona without it never came up in the dream!! :rotfl2:

oh but my most favorite miniture item is small liqure bottles.. lol

Now there's a shocker!! :rolleyes1

Your trip is so close now! I'm so jealous! :rolleyes1

BTW, I don't know if you read in my TR, but boarding was surprisingly smooth. I had read horror stories on here but they must have worked out all the kinks. Boarding and debarking were both very easy and organized. Just don't wait until the very last minute to board! We arrived to port around 11am. :thumbsup2

Well, now it looks like it will be warm but not hot:confused3 It changes daily - I guess it's hard to predict being so close to the ocean. It only takes about 15 min to drive straight to the beach from DL.

Bindi is alot of fun. She gets really nervous when I leave her, but she loves my friend who is watching her and has a playmate there, so hopefully she doesn't get sick on them.

Thanks Mindyjoy! I haven't read yet - thanks for the reminder - I knew you were gone and then forgot to keep track of when you got back - I'll be right over!

We are doing the one week til we sail dance! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::rockband::dancer:party::jumping3::jumping2:

I started feeling cruddy on Mon night, and I've been taking an Immune booster, which fights it off pretty well, but last night I went to bed at 7pm, so I didn't have time to do my one week from episode yesterday.

But TODAY, in ONE WEEK, we will be seeing this:
disney_wonder_cruises.jpg

We'll be eating lunch here, http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/wonder/dining/beach-blanket-buffet/ so we can be outside in the sun - it is supposed to be
sunshine.jpg
that day.

We'll be celebrating with Mickey and the gang:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TenfRrKCdOw

And having a DOTD for sure!

minnieumbrelladrinkcopy.jpg

I am all packed, except for a couple of last minute items like chargers, extra card for the camera, Jim's razor, which I always forget

The excitement is really building, and so is my to do list. I need to stop the mail, make arrangements for our luggage in Vancouver, get Enterprise to pick us up in Victoria... Yikes - better get off the DIS and get busy!
I still have work to do also, so I'll check in tomorrow!

oh but my most favorite miniture item is small liqure bottles.. lol

Speaking of... I forgot to take a pic before I packed - I'll try to remember before I drink - I got some tiny bottles of rum, and some kind of chocolate vodka, but I also got a little box called a "mini bar" made by Absolut - it is 5 little flavors of vodka, with the recipes on the back - I'm bringing our Mickey cups from WDW, so I think I'll be having some large orders of OJ in the mornings!:thumbsup2
