One Way Trip to Canada, Eh? FINAL THOUGHTS 08/10

Hi Tammi,

I can't wait for your TR. My DH and I will be on the repositioning cruise from Vancouver to LA in Sept. Have a great trip.

Hi! Welcome aboard!:cheer2: I'll be sure to take alot of pics so you can see everything and get excited for your cruise! It's great to have a Disney ship on the West Coast, isn't it? Is this your first cruise?

ohh sounds exciting hearing all the plans. And its awesome to have family in the area to not have to worry about hotel stays etc.

Im an odd one I love LAX it just feels like your really flying somewhere since its UBBER busy lol... but it is nice flying into and out of any other airport that isnt as busy!

It is great to have family to stay with! I was just talking about how much simpler it will be this time! Maybe my LAX thing comes from my first experience - coming back from Okinawa after 13 hrs and coming in to the chaos that is customs there! :rotfl2:

Oooohhhh...I LOVE San Francisco! That whole bay area is amazing...Muir Woods, wine country...and you are there two days? That's AWESOME!!!:worship:

I really haven't been there except for the airport, and Oakland for a baseball game once. I am excited to see all there is to see!:yay: We will probably skip the woods, as we have experienced similar trees numerous times - wine sounds good and China Town and Japantown and the Walt Disney Family museum - Lombard street, and the gardens (?) Girahdelli, ???

We'll probably tour with my friend the first full day, not sure whether we have a curfew or not, and then we leave at 3pm the 2nd day, so we'll probably just explore the wharf on that day.

Don't forget Fisherman's wharf and those incredible Dungeness crab cocktails...YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

Tickets! We've got Tickets!
I guess we should have done this before, but we kept discussing our return trip and our departure airport. I could find cheaper flights by going out of Reno or Medford, but Jim really doesn't want to drive home after a long trip, so I decided not to play the "scenic route" game this time. We'll just fly from home and take advantage of the free parking, and being 10 minutes away from the airport.:thumbsup2

We are arriving at SNA at 10am on the morning of the 23rd:banana:
Our flight home fro SEA on the 5th won't leave until 6:20 pm, which puts us in at 10:40 p.m. Jim is planning to head to work at 6am the next morning - glad I'll get to sleep in.:goodvibes
Now I just need to get our train tickets from Vancouver to Seattle, and see about their luggage storage service so we can tour for the day!

On another note, I made ressies at Palo for our 2nd night, which is the formal night.:woohoo:
All of the brunch spots were taken at 90 days, when we could book, but that's okay.,
I'm not making any spa ressies - we'll just see what we feel like doing as we go along and see if anything is available.
I need to contact my friend Deborah in the SF area and see what she wants to do while we're there.
I'm going to reserve a car in Victoria so we can do our own tour.

Not too much excitement, but we are ready to be away from here. It was -4 Sat morning, spitting snow again today after 70 deg. weather in January!:confused3

I attempted to post Sat night - seems I always post right when they are ready to do maintenance here - hope it works this time! TTFN

Another trip report...it feels like I just read your last one.

Can't wait to read this one.

I love SF we were there last summer. Beautiful there and the houses on those hills. Pier 39 is a great shopping place plus you can see Alcatraz from there.

Is that you, NAB? :rotfl2: Welcome Aboard! I am excited to see the Pier! I think 39 is where we dock.

Well you had me at Canada , no sure why the Eh is there though we never say that .....:rotfl2:

You are one traveling girl.

I am not stalking you either...was looking at trip reports from the Dream since we are going on it next Jan.

Oh, I'm not afraid. Yet. :rotfl2: Wow the Dream! That is so exciting!!! I'm trying to talk Jim into a Dream cruise next May with some other DISers I've met, but he wants to save up for a WDW trip with our kids and grandkids, so that Dream will probably wait!:goodvibes

I ordered my NookColor today! I'm so excited! I chose this one because I can check email and my business numbers and read my favorite books from here - much less $$ than the iPad for what I need. I can't wait to sit in the Outlook Cafe with my coffee (maybe add some Bailey's) while I watch the ocean and read! (Sounds like I may have a unique ability to have one eye on the book and one eye on the window huh?)

So are there any suggestions for what to download first? I like a light mystery, epic family stories, biography. I'm not into vampires, witches or ghosts.

I think I can put movies on a memory card, too - have to figure that one out.

I was reading a PTR by Karajeboo and realized that I probably should start making a "must take" bag. For some reason, I haven't made magnets or door signs or anything. Last time I was way into that.

I have started gathering the FE (Fish Exchange - kind of like a secret santa) gifts, and today I bought a new pair of sketchers for touring and for walking around at DL:banana::banana::banana: Nothing says Disney like new shoes and new underwear right?:rotfl2:

I received a NookColor for Christmas and I love love love it! Seriously, it's the *best* purchase we've made in awhile. I love that I can also get our local library books on it as well purchasing books - you may want to look into the library thing if you can.

We're on the same cruise! Yay! Guess this means I should get around to our pre-trip report too ;) This is our first cruise, so I'll be coming back to this thread for ideas!

Hi! Welcome!:cheer2: Are you on our cruisemeet thread? If so, I'm sorry I don't remember you there.... Yes, get started on your PTR. Have you read the thread about "Best Tips for DCL?" I think it's at the top of the DCL forum page - GREAT tips in there from people who've cruised here before! I will answer questions, too if I can!

Tammie, you know I love giving book suggestions. What is your definition of a light mystery? I really like the White House chef mystery series by Julie Hyzy. I think the first one is called State of the Onion. I also love historical mysteries, so anything by Tasha Alexander, Deanna Raybourne, or Lauren Willig always gets high points in my opinion. :goodvibes

I remember back in elementary school, we learned that Canadians say "Eh?" a lot, so my friends and I started saying it. Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Hm...book suggestions huh? Well, I just started reading a great book about Canadian politics, but that probably wouldn't make much sense to you...

I also love mystery novels, but more into the psychological type. The Lighthouse by PD James was a pretty light one I think. It's a classic "cosy" mystery.

Thanks for the suggestions. By light mystery I meant not too much blood and guts, and no "demons." Does that make sense? Maybe just a little more exciting than Nancy Drew with a little romance thrown in! :rotfl2: I'll look these up - thanks!

That is so funny you "taught" yourselves to be Canadian! :rotfl2:

I'll check out The Lighthouse - thanks! Thanks for being here!

Love seeing all the plans, I can't believe it is so soon!!!

Sigh...I have been tossing around the Nook vs. Kindle vs iPad (ouch$$$) conundrum for awhile now and still continue to squint and read the few ebooks I have on my phone (which frustrates me so I don't read them much)
One of these days I'll make up my mind and bite the bullet! ;):lmao:

I did try one on my phone - but I'm a grandma, so I really need to bigger print!:lmao: I went with the NookColor because I think it is ahead of the Wi-Fi game, and I want to use it for email and checking numbers when I travel, so it can be a tax deduction - and the whole Kindle - Pedophilia manual debaucle sealed it for me - I'm boycotting Amazon.
