Hi everyone,

So what kind of pricing are you able to find and from which car rental company? I've been pricing and best I've seen is $80 with taxes and fees ($65 before) which seems steep for 1 day.

What price/car size?
How far in advance did you book?
What site did you use?

In January, we paid $72.22 (with all taxes and fees) for a mini van from Avis for a one day, one way rental from port to MCO.

MCO to Port: $52.00 for an SUV
Port to MCO: $120.00 for an SUV

In previous years I have had deals with an intermediate car only costing $23.00.

I've found the best deals occur closer to the date -- usually within 4-6 weeks. My suggestion: go ahead and make your reservation, but be sure it is one that can be canceled or modified (so not a paid upfront offer), and then watch for deals.

We booked it about one month ahead of time. We had a coupon code courtesy of the DIS.

For our EC cruise in June 2015 we paid $58.64 for a SUV through National. I thought that was a good rate. We needed a vehicle that held 5 with luggage. We booked several months in advance. We frequently use discount codes through Mousesavers.com

$33.85 compact, MCO To Port Friday morning to Saturday morning
$57.08 compact, Port to MCO Saturday morning to Sunday night

In May 2016, we paid $64 w/tax for an SUV from MCO to the port and $62 for an SUV from the port to MCO. This was from Budget which is a 5-10 drive from the terminal and does offer a shuttle.

Avis full size $40.00 (taxes included) Port to MCO and $46 MCO to Port. This is for the end of August.

Thanks everyone! For early November best I could find with coupon codes was $62 total for a Prius (that's fine, we drive one) Port-MCO. I will keep checking but I booked it so we have something.

If you book through a website called AutoSlash, they will "look" for coupons for you and automatically re-book if they find a lower price. I have had great success with it, and have booked my own one-way Port car rental this way. Good luck!

You should check out their website and FAQs, its very straightforward but I'd rather not keep answering questions on their behalf. It's an easy process and a trustworthy experience though!

I've noticed rental rates are MUCH higher for this coming January than they were for last January, but like others have said, prices tend to really drop when you get within 4-6 weeks of the trip. I would book when you find a rate you're comfortable with, but make sure there are no cancellation penalties and check back often to see of price drops have occurred.

I don't mean to hijack, but how do rentals work with taking 528? Isn't that a toll road? Can you still pay cash or is it automatic? I've run into issues with rental cars and tolls in FLL/MIA...
