I've been trying to figure out the cheapest/best option for transportation to and from the cruise and it is driving me crazy. It's a 4 night, leaves Monday, returns Friday. Our flight lands early morning the day before the cruise and we are planning to spend just one night at AS movies post cruise to do MVMCP before flying back home the following day.
We already have a room at cocoa beach and a one way, 24H car rental booked pre-cruise. We will turn the car in at port. Post-cruise, I'm at a loss. I am hesitant to spend $140 one way for DCL transfer when I can do another one way rental for half that or better, but the logistics of renting on this leg confuses me. Our flight home isn't until 3:30 Saturday. Either i return it Friday before the party and take ME to the airport the next day or I keep it and return it at MCO before our flight home, but that option means I have to pay a second day's rental. Is there even an option to return the car onsite at WDW? And would we still have enough time to make it to the Christmas party at 4 if we are going back and forth somewhere to return a car? I called a couple private transport companies, but they told me they couldn't accommodate our daughter's car seat in the towncars due to space constraints (which is odd. We have used private transport towncars in other cities and never had a problem with this). The van costs more than DCL transfer so really isn't worth it. I know it shouldn't be this difficult to figure out, but for some reason i just can't wrap my head around the transportation side of this trip.

Well I would see a few options.

1) Keep the car and return it to MCO before your flight

2) Return the car to MCO after the cruise and take ME to the Disney resort you are staying at (you didn't say that but I'm assuming)

3) Depending on who you rent from, there are several rental car return places in Disney Springs or if you have Alamo, the car center right outside Magic Kingdom. If you return to the hotels around Disney Springs, you could walk back from the hotel and take Disney transportation. If you return to the car center, they will shuttle you back to your resort.

You kind of sound like me :) I'm starting to drive myself crazy. I'm sure you have it all figured out by now. We leave after Thanksgiving and are debating on spending 1-2 days precruise. We originally planned on 1 but found leaving the day sooner was much cheaper. We are also staying on Cocoa Beach and getting a car rental from MCO and returning to port. My return is a little easier as we will pick up another rental at port and return to MCO. Who did you find was your best bet for car rental? There's so many different prices out there. I'm a member of AAA but have found some places it's more. Not sure why. Most sites I've looked for our post cruise won't even give me a price cuz it's only a few hours of rental. I may have to call direct. I've also heard people dropping their party off at the port terminal and 1 person returning the rental so it's easier to get back without all the luggage.

As of now, I think we are going to just suck it up and do DCL transfer back to WDW. Renting one way and dropping off Onsite was much more expensive than our one way to port and put us almost at coat of the transfer. With the party, I am worried we won't have time to go anywhere else and catch disney transport back to the resort if we used a company that isn't onsite. And keeping it an extra day to drop off at the airport on our way home brought us pretty close to DCL transfer cost as well. Unless i find a better price on the car, I just don't think it's worth the hassle.
Budget was by far the cheapest one way to the port for us, I used a discount code I found online.
