Hi there everyone,

I have a list of ADR's but I know that there will be at least one that I will not be able to make. I tried as hard as I could do schedule them paralleling what park we'll be at what day. Most of them are in Epcot and other resort restaurants. My traveling/dining party consists of just my fiance and I who are celebrating our 30th b-days. Okay, so out of the list of restaurants, which one (or two) would you not mind skipping (and why)?

San Angel Inn (Epcot), Whispering Canyon (Wilderness Lodge), Yachtsman's Steakhouse (Yacht Club), Kona (Polynesian), Nine Dragons (Epcot),
Coral Reef but it's a lunch (Epcot), Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge), Les Chefs de France (Epcot).

I'm going to Poll this question as well, but if you could give reasons that would be great in a reply to this one!!
Thanks so much!:)

I would skip the San Angel Inn because I've been there a few times and was not terribly impressed, and don't really LOVE mexican food. The rest of your choices, I loved.

I'd skip WCC if it was just adults. I'm sure it's a lot of fun with kids, but when it's semi-romatic, that would be at the bottom of my list. (too loud, chaotic, etc)

I would skip Nine Dragons. Not much more themed than our local P.F. Changs, but you get much less food for much more money. In my opinion, not as tasty as P.F. Changs, either. I didn't find the food that much better than Panda Express when it first opens, and the food is fresh. On the other hand, San Angel Inn, is quite themed, and if you get sit close to the water, it's pretty neat, and there is a big volcano, too. The food is more authentic mexican, well as authetic as Disney can do. No leaf footed bugs on the tacos in Disney. :thumbsup2

I've been to all of these and I would definitely skip WCC. We are a party of 2 adults and although it was certainly fun for kids and their parents at other tables, we found it to be very loud and hectic. We also felt kind of "left out" because the wait staff spent their time entertainng the kids (which I think is great). The food was mediocre; the draw at this place is the interaction between the wait staff and their young customers.

I voted for the WCC although I LOVED this restaurant. I do agree that it would be very loud and perhaps not as much fun for a couple. DH & I went alone to celebrate our anniversary last year and found Nine Dragons to be very peaceful with wonderful service. No matter what you chose, Happy Birthday to you both and have a magical time:bday:

Which one - Nine Dragons. Nothing special.

Note to consider as I see some trends appearing in your thread: Many guest are not familar with authentic Mexican, so you see a lot of responses stating San Angel Inn food is not good. What many are saying is it is not like Taco Bell or similar fast food/Americanized derivatives that they associate with the term Mexican Food. It is authentic Mexican based upon one of the many ethnic versions of Mexican and well worth at least one try, if not for the atmoshere alone, unless you are looking for Americanized Mexican.

I would skip San Angel. It is just nothing special. However, do get one of those lovely fiesta margaritas just outside. :thumbsup2

OR perhaps keep the WL dining experience but swap Artist Pointe for the WCC, if you desire a more sophisticated dininig experience.

I don't understand how you KNOW you have to cancel at least one and not the others. There is obviously a conflict so cancel that ADR now and keep the rest and it sounds like there maybe more than one that you will cancel. Sorry, but this question doesn't make sense to me and just seems to me to be overplanning and making way too many ADRs and probably some on the same day. :confused3 My recommendation is to do the planning and make the ADRs you will actually use and fill in any problem spots with CS type stuff that don't need ADRs.

We ate at Chefs de France last month and it was a huge disapointment! The other one would be San Angel, but since I've never eaten there, it would be based on what I've heard. I liked Nine Dragons, although it was just a step above our Chinese restaurants. I've eaten at Kona a few times and it has gone downhill a bit in my opinion. I like WCC but might change it to Artist Point...loved it there.

I want to thank all of you who have submitted votes on my poll and given me great reasons for one or the other.

For those who haven't yet voted, please do, I'm 'hungry' for more answers

Oh and to answer LarryJ about not understanding my question let me explain. You mentioned at one point that I have over booked my ADR's and that's not true. I only have one ADR for each night. Since I am on the DDP I also only have 8 TS meals for the both of us. Seeing that I have made one at a Signature Dining restaurant that takes up 2 TS meals, I know I need to get rid of one. After I find out which restaurant really won't be worth my time, we'll cancel that one and do a CS meal instead for that night (or perhaps a cheap OOP. )
You get me?

Thanks again to everyone for answering, and keep them coming!! :)

I wouldn't skip San Angel because of the atmosphere. It really is a neat place to eat by the river and ride.

If I just had to cancel it would be nine dragons just because its something you can get close to in your hometown. There is nothing like San Angel in my hometown.:goodvibes

I've never been to San Angel Inn, Yachtsman, Coral Reef, or Nine Dragons.

Of the rest, we just had a disappointing dinner on the DDP about two weeks ago at Chefs de France and bad service. So I'd skip that one. (We did have lunch there awhile ago and that we enjoyed a bit more--better service and better food.)

I'd skip WCC. If you're staying at WL or want to see the resort, I'd drop YSH & dine at Artist Point. We like AP better anyway. YSH is a good restaurant though. AP is just a great restaurant, IMO.

I agree with those who think San Angel Inn is a unique experience. The atmosphere is great. Although, we were once placed at a table by the restrooms. Needless to say, the atmosphere wasn't particularly good that evening. ;) Tell them you're willing to wait for a table in the center of the room or near the water. Hopefully, it will work out. We like the fact that this food isn't typical Tex-Mex. We can get that anywhere.

I'm sad to see that people have been disappointed with recent meals at Chefs de France. It's our favorite Epcot restaurant. Hopefully, they'll get it back together soon. It seems that most of the restaurants are getting bad reviews lately. It's possible they're just overwhelmed with the quantity of meals they're having to produce. Based on recent reports, the dining scene sounds a bit chaotic at the moment.

I would drop Yachtsman Steakhouse. I know I am in the minority here. And since that is your 2 TS, you could actually add one more 1 TS.
We (3 Adults) ate at Yachtman on our last trip. It was the meal I was most looking forward to. The atmosphere is wonderful and the wait staff were very good. The dinner rolls were to die for. But all that said, none of us liked our Entrees. They were over sauced and just not good at all. We have had better meals at far less expensive restaurants. We will not go back.
Have a Great Trip.

I was disappointed with Nine Dragons. I thought the food was mediocre. I didn't think it was any better than some local places around my house. Definitely, not worth the money.

I'd skip Nine Dragons. It's not bad, it's just very easy to get the same kind of food at home.

Ah now I see said the blind man. :thumbsup2 I've never done the DDP, but did use the coupon thingee back in the old days, 1980's which was similar to the DPP, but you could get lobster, etc... IIRC back in 1985 it covered every course no restrictions :dance3: I now voted and like some others would say to skip Nine Dragons. The food is O.K. just like the the Inn, but the Inn has a much better atmosphere and after dinner you can do the ride to finish the evening off. I just wish WDW would have incorporated a BB type restaurant into Pirates which IMHO was a HUGE mistake ... that is by far the coolest themed restaurant Disneyhas created.party:
