My family is going to book Jan 7-14 2023. Boardwalk is our home and we have 210 points. We are going to book a studio day 1 and 2BR villa 2-7. Total is 212 points. We share the contract with 2 other families and don’t want to borrow against our families points for the following year. The one time use points are only for 7 month mark. What options do we have. Can we rent just 2 points? Did not have to do this before so looking for what our options would be. Thank you!!

Renting involves having another owner book you a room so you can’t go that route for just 2 points.

A transfer would work but with the rule of one in or out per UY, it would be very difficult to find an owner willing to do that.

If you want to secure it all at 11 months, borrowing is your only option.

Now, what you can do is borrow and then at 7 months, if there are still rooms buy some OTU points to use and then bank points from the current UY to replace them.

I think your answer here, answers my question. Just to confirm, I bought OTU points to stay at OKW at 7 months. We subsequently bought more RIV points (home resort), and my wife wants to waitlist RIV, since we now have enough extra points. If the waitlist comes through, will it use the OTU points first and not just our RIV points?

That’s where it gets confusing. I think you may be able to call MS and get the points allocated the way you wish.

Yes, if modifying the reservation, just be sure that the contract is checked that holds the OTU points so those get pulled in!

I've been scrolling the forums for half an hour trying to see if this idea was possible! Thanks for that info!
