one time use points

stupid question but can you buy one time use points when you dont need them? wanting to save as many points for 2016 use year with out borrowing so i want to bank as many 2015 points as i can.

Just last week I purchased the "one time use points" for a 23 point night in a studio even though I had 7 points sitting in my available UY. The CM mentioned it [that I really only needed to purchase 16 points], but I told him I needed those for a waitlist I was hoping came through. I had no problems doing it.

Edited to add: I see there are two ways to read this question. I assumed he had a reservation he wanted to use the one time use points for this year. Guess he really meant he wanted to purchase them and then bank them into next year. My bad!

The OP doesn't say they are going to make a reservation. They just want to know if they can purchase them when they don't need them. If you are not making a reservation, you can't purchase OTU points.

i am going to use points in 2015 so i will make reservation i have 220 points i plan on using 160 i just wanted to see if i could buy a few and save 80ish instead of 60

I was wondering about this as well. Sounds like you cannot buy the points for a current reservation in order to bank more points if I'm reading the responses correctly.

No - you can purchase these points for a current/existing reservation even if you have available points. You can't purchase the points without applying them to a reservation - with the intention of banking them to the next year.
