Hi.

If I use a one-time "purchase" of the 24 points from Disney when making a ressie, can I then modify at a later date?

For instance, say I go to book BLT for 6 nights and the last night is not available.
Can I use the OTU points and book a different resort (for same amount of points or one that is a little more than the booked resort) so I
have a ressie and then stalk the website and modify on my own without having to call MS if the night opens?

Also, I'm guessing it is best for me to book the full six nights of whatever resort I want and then call MS to add the last day on.
If I do this, will I have to wait for that seven month mark for the last day or can they just add to my existing reservation. I would want to
book online first and then call MS when they open for the last night.

Thank you.

From what I understand is that you still have to call to change a reservation with OTU points because they do not show up online.

if you book 6 nights online and want to extend to the 7th night using OTU points, then they can do it by calling and they can do it that day.

Yes, thank you. But what if that last night isn't available. Since the last night isn't available, I book another room in a different resort using the OTU points. Now that I have an actual room booked, can I go onto the RAT and move that one night myself (Modify) if I want to change resorts using that one night that was purchased with OTU points?

From what I understand, no, When you modify a reservation, it actually retakes points from your account, even if they are the same ones. But the points go back into your account temporarily as you complete the change.

Since there is no place for the OTU points to go, they would t show up as an option to use during that process.

To avoid this, and allow for some stalking at the end, is to book the first day with the OTU points by calling, and then use the online booking for nights 2 and beyond. It would give you 2 reservations at first, but once you get all of your nights, MS can combine for you.

The drawback, of course, is that you have to wait until night 2 to try for the rooms so your 7 month window is delayed.

Thank you. I appreciate the time you take to explain your answer. It is helpful.

So, is it correct that if I book one day at a resort using OTU points, I cannot modify that day.
That is unfortunate.

Thank you.

Yes, not online..Only buy calling. At least that is the way I understand it.

you can't modify it, but you can put a waitlist in to replace it and they'll use the OTU points automatically. we've had to do that a couple of times!

Thanks so much as always!

Thanks. I appreciate it. I rather stalk but it is what it is.
Thanks.

This was one thing that was so irritating to me with DVC. If you had one time use points and wanted to change up your reservation, you had to call. I hated talking on the phone, lol.
