One Time Points?

Yes. Just call MS when you are ready to book.

So you can only buy these over the phone, and you have to be making a reservation at the time you buy them? If so, then you're forced to lose out on the 1hr advantage that online bookers have since you can't buy them in advance or online?

Yes, you are correct.

One time use points came about after DVC did a reallocation which caused some owners to come up short for their vacations.

Disney doesn't want you to use them regularly thus the restrictions, they want you to buy an add-on contract.

That makes sense.

We're going in May with my parents (members), doing a 2 br at BLT depending on availability. My husband and I want to do 2 extra days at the front end, but I don't want my parents to have to borrow 2015 points for that. We want to try AKL to see if we'd like to buy there. I guess my other question is whether you have to be out of points before they let you buy the one-time ones. Basically I want to buy points for the first 2 days in an AKL studio, and they will use 2014/borrow some 2015 points for the BLT portion. I'd rather do the first part with one time use so we can do the BLT portion online at 8 am.

You don't have to be out of points. I didn't want to borrow any more from next year from out Aulani contracts and I had some current year VGC points that I didn't want to use. I was able to buy one-time use points.
