We are going to DLP in a few weeks time and as it is the first time I've been with my little ones (7 and 4) I want to make sure we cover all the 'essential' things! :) If there was one thing you would recommend doing when there, what would it be? Anything....rides, restaurants, things to buy, ANYTHING. As many of you are Disney Experts I would love to know what you think...
Thank you :flower3:

For me I would definitely go on Pirates of the Caribbean. pirate:

meet n greets i think are by far the best thing for kids to experience, just yesterday i remembered how innocent my DS was when i saw his amazement at a floating matchstick on top of a playing card trick, he was so convinced it was real! so while they have that, let them enjoy it, meet n greets are great!

Get a front row view of the Parade - it captures the Disney magic for me :thumbsup2

As for rides - I have a list of favourites :rotfl:

For me going with little ones it would have to be a character meal.
Our very first experience with all three of the troops was when Walts was an option for breakfast.
The interaction with the characters and watching granny and granda watching their grandchildren was the stuff of memories. We've not a lot of photographs and no video of this experience. But it is still the one time that I remember more than the others :goodvibes

Deffo watching my little one meet the characters, the way her little eyes light up and sparkle with excitment really captures my heart to see her happy.

Considering the ages of your children, definitely a character meal.
Loads of individual attention to each child(and adult :goodvibes ), and without the scrum aspect you can experience in the park when the characters are out and about outside.

We still do at least one character meal each visit.

as pirates and character meals have already been mentioned, i'll plump for extra magic hours.
you can have a nice quiet relaxed look at the park, or rush around like a mad thing walking straight on rides and meet alice, tweedle dum and tweedle dee. also main street is lovely when quiet and you can ride on the vehicles without loads of crowds in the way.

Have to agree with the Character Meal, no matter what age your children it's still magical.

Thanks for the ideas....cant wait to go....DS and DD say they dont want to see the characters :confused3 do you think I should book a character meal anyway in the hope that they will be used to seeing them? We are going to the restaurant where the princesses dance with their princes which they seem quite happy about (as long as the princesses don't come over :scared: )
Please keep your ideas coming...it's great to hear what people think :goodvibes
Thanks! :wave2:

Why not go to Cafe Mickey? You don't have to book a meal with the characters, they'll come and say hello anyway. It's fun and at no cost!

I'd say, watch the parades, maybe meet the princesses or a different character and have a ride on 'It's a Small World'. It maybe not great for a 7 year old, but we love it!!! :cheer2:

Enjoy your stay!

Hi, welcome and I so hope you enjoy your trip.

Definitely a character meal, do try Annette's diner too, because it's so stylish.
Peter Pan is a must , and Casey Junior if you like a speedy ride without the roller coaster madness.

Would have to be a character meal - the look on your little ones faces when they meet the characters is so magical and so very Disney.:goodvibes

Defentially meeting one of the charcters...ony of my best momments/experiences doing that!:goodvibes , even though i am 24!.lol;)

My son said his favourite thing was meeting the characters (he means at a character lunch) and my daughter's favourite thing was definitely lunch with the princesses. So I guess that makes those my favourite things too, since I'm going there for my children. I do enjoy a good shootout on Buzz Lightyear though!

Thanks for all the ideas...wonder if ive gone a bit mad with the characters meals though :rolleyes1

I've booked the princess one, Cafe mickey and lucky nugget ;)

just taking good advice

We wondered if we'd gone overboard on character meals too, but actually our children enjoyed them so much that when we had to cancel the Blue Lagoon for lunch (DD freaked out in POTC and refused to set foot in there!) we ate at Cafe Mickey instead, so ended up with 4 character meals!
We ate at Plaza Gardens, Lucky Nugget, Auberge de Cendrillon and Cafe Mickey. The least enjoyable (but cheapest) was Plaza Gardens because it was such a scrum. The best food and the most wonderful for my daughter was the Princess one. cafe Mickey was at lunchtime and that was probably the least busy and best for interaction with the characters since not so many people like to take time out of the parks and eat in the Village.
While we wanted to do DLRP on a reasonable budget, for my DH holidays are about good food and getting him interested in the restaurants was the only way to get him there at all:lmao:
