One Queen or Two Twins and sheets

I've got another question. I read that a stateroom has one queen, which can be turned into two twin beds.

I have a king size bed at home, that is the same size as two twin bed mattresses. I also have a queen size bed in another room, but two twin mattresses will not fit on top of the queen without overlapping or hanging off the sides.

So, how is it that the DCL Queen can become two twins? Do they take the queen out and put two twins in its place? Does the queen have a split down the middle or a solid top mattress?

Or, are the two twins actually much smaller than a normal twin size bed?

I am trying to decide if I want to have the two twins since I am traveling alone with DD.

On another note, do the sheets cover the whole bed, or do I need to take a fitted bottom sheet with me to put on the bed to make sure I have a totally covered mattress? I know at some hotels, the sheet comes just to the end of the mattress (which drives me crazy).

So far, I have not seen this asked, but I apologize in advance if it is here somewhere and I can't find it.

The queen size bed is a typical queen size. I usually share the bed with my DD since she doesn't take up much room (usually). My DM then takes the sofa bed or pulldown bed depending on the room. Sharing or using the extra bed might be a better option since it will leave you more floor space during the day than if you split the queen size bed. Both the pulldown and sofa beds have been very comfortable - not like home sleeper sofas. In our most recent configuration the back of the sofa bed flipped down to create a twin bed rather than pull out like a sleeper. Your room host/hostess will be able to help you figure out the best sleeping configuration.

I have never tried to split the queen size bed but based on size, each twin must be about 6" smaller than a normal twin size. Maybe another poster would know for sure.

The sheets cover the entire mattress, not just the top. Linens are typical hotel-fare, nothing fancy. The pillows are too thick for my taste.

We stayed in category 6 with a "queen" and it was HUGE. We have a queen at home and this bed was much bigger. It may have been two twins but I didn't feel a hole in the middle. DH and I felt like we got lost in the bed, as we are huggers :)

As for the sheets, they are snug and did not come off the bed (I hate that at hotels too). The top sheet was even so snug that we had to pull it so my feet "could breathe". :rotfl:

After looking at this website, http://www.abed.com/sleepcenter/dimensions.html

I suspect that Disney's beds are what is known in the mattress industry as a "Queen Split" mattress. As one bed it is 60" across just like a normal queen mattress, but as two beds, it is only 30" wide, not 39" like a normal twin.
So, they are telling the truth about the bed being queen size, but they are stretching the truth saying that when the beds are split they are twins.

I call it a "super queen" It's definitely larger than a standard queen, but slightly smaller than a king bed. It is 2 "twin" beds put together (and there is a piece put in the center to hold them together so you don't notice much of the split, but it is still marginally noticible.)
The twin beds are slightly smaller than a standard twin, but I think larger than the poster above posted about. The bed is generally referred to as a queen bed though.

They can easily do this for you. They move one nightstand to the space between the beds, and change the sheets/blanket.

Its a normal queen size bed but we have them broken into two since we can't deal with that lump in the middle where they push them together and the "twins" are smaller than normal twins...
