One place to eat

.....Which is why I have never tried to convince you to eat there again!:goodvibes I don't think you should try it again. Your mind is made up! I have always said it's not worth it for someone who has already had a bad time there (or any character meal) to risk spending that kind of money and having a time they are not satisfied with again!! So I haven't even tried the evil plan on you!

I do think, from most accounts, the "bad" experiences at Goofy's seem to be more the exception than the rule, and they seem to be more based on what the guests' preferences are in character meals. Like I didn't really get into the dinner there because of my own tastes, etc. Some folks want more characters. Some folks want more time with each character. Some people want certain types of food and not others. Some people want an equal balance of specific food and lots of characters. Some people like the dinner choices there, but I didn't at that time (though it has been long enough where I probably should give the dinner one more try eventually). Not everyone is going to be pleased with every restaurant. We all have our own preferences.

You know, we liked the food, it was good. Not the best but not the worst we've had. What we thought was lacking was the amount of characters and the "interaction" that we didn't get. lol Altho the peanut butter pizza thing was not good.....none of us liked it, not even my peanut butter addicted kids. LOL But you're right of course, this will be the one place that Sherry & Kerri agree to disagree. :)

You're right - everywhere else we agree!:goodvibes There was one time I was at Goofy's where the only character we saw was Goofy and he didn't stop at ANY tables! He just walked through the restuarant and waved at everyone - I think there was a staff meeting or something and all the characters were busy! But what terrible timing! I said to my friends, "Gee, it's a good thing I have had so many other good times here because if this was my first impression, I would not be back again for this kind of money when Goofy is just waving and passing everybody by! What the h*** is up with that?" So I can totally understand your situation and don't blame you at all. I wouldn't want to go back either if I felt something was lacking on my very first visit. It's too much money to spend to not be at least 90% satisfied!:goodvibes

I have never tried that peanut butter pizza - and I like peanut butter as a rule - because it just looked wrong to me! Something told me to avoid it, so I probably will never try the GK peanut butter pizza!! I will stick with my tried and true favorites. I am still reluctant to try their dinner again even though the choices look good and I am sure they are delicious - simply because I have memories of being there and not being hungry for dinner and wasting money, and I guess I am paranoid I will spend $42 on food I can't eat again!! (When, in reality, that probably won't happen, but still....)

I really want to try an additional charater meal the next time I am at DLR - whenever that may be - just to bookend the trip. Goofy's breakfast at either the beginning or end of the trip and the other meal at the other end. But I can't make up my mind between Lilo and Stitch and Minnie and Friends. It seems like there are pros and cons to each, and mixed reviews of each. Minnie's seems to have great characters, but I have heard consistently mixed reviews of the food, and more folks are startiing to say they had to hunt the characters down to interact with them. Lilo and Stitch seem to have more overall consistently good reviews but I don't care as much about Lilo and Stitch as I do about the characters at Minnie's. So I am torn! Such decisions!!

I guess my one place is Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Cal. I love going there. The food is hot, generous and well priced. It is so quiet sitting outside listing to the birds. The park is literally right there but for some reason you can't hear the noise and chaos of it all.

Dh and I always share the beef nachos. We have also had the french dip sandwich and the pizza. Loved it all. My kids usually have the chicken nuggets. Then after we eat we head back in to grab a big brownie for all of us to share or a mickey rice krispie treat.

We leave feeling full, rested and relaxed.

Have you by any chance tried that delectable-looking orange sorbet served in the fresh orange rind (it looks like it is blood orange sorbet) at WCT? It looks so good in pictures but it has never been the right time for me to eat it when I was there - I was either not hungry enough or it was too cold outside. I wonder if it is as refreshing and delicious as it looks.

It is absolutely as refreshing and delicious as it looks!

Yum! That is quite a large serving too! Every time I see a picture of that sorbet I wonder if the sorbet is crammed all the way into that bottom part of the rind. Because as it is right now, just the part of the sorbet that sits on top of the rind is too much for one person to eat, so if there is even more of it squished down in there, you would need at least two people to eat it! That looks like the PERFECT thing to eat on a hot summer day. Just sit outside on the WCT patio, sipping a drink, people-watching and eating that sorbet.

Well I do think you should TRY the PB Pizza, but just be prepared for it to not be great. I like PB toast much better. :) Oh and my favorite was the super yummy bacon!!! OMG, that bacon was to die for! But not worth the price to go for the bacon. :lmao:

The bacon is one of the things I recommend to eat at GK (I assume it is good at all the character meals). There is something Disney does to that bacon - much like the pixie dust I am convinced they sprinkle on all of the fruit around the parks - to make it extra delicious and addictive. I never eat bacon at home at all, but I could go to GK and literally load up my plate with that bacon. I would probably clog up my arteries before I even made it into the parks, but I would die having eaten some delicious bacon!!

Mmm mmm good.....some artery-cloggin' good fun!

One of my peculiar friends who went with us to GK one time didn't want to eat any of the 'real' food that was in the buffet, and she loaded up her plates/bowls with frozen yogurt, P, B & J pizza and worms and dirt. I was so mortified that she was eating all of that stuff as her breakfast that I didn't think to ask if she liked the peanut butter pizza!

Ya, I think the bacon at the other places was just as good. :) I agree about the pixie dust, it totally works too! :) I'm :rotfl2: at your friend, sounds like something DBF would do! LOL

PS, I'm officially sick, I've got a fever and everything. :sad1:

I can't go to DL without having an Safari Skewer (asparagus with bacon) from Bengals BBQ.

+1 I am right there with you!! YUMM!! I love that one and the spicy beef one!

Kerri hope it doesn't last long! I woke up sick the other day and now I have the chills, a fever, headache, sore throat and runny nose. It sucks. At least you have DLR to look forward to! Feel better soon! :goodvibes

We always used to eat at GK and then we just stopped once they moved it. It used to be convenient for us because we stayed at DLH but then we moved to pp and the GCH and so GK is out of the way for us now. I did eat there once in the new location but I dont remember the food being good enough to make me walk there. I guess I should say make my family walk there  as I dont mind walking! :thumbsup2

The orange is whole and frozen underneath the sorbet.

Really? How is frozen orange?

I am so excited because I get to try this dessert in 2 weeks when we go to WCT! Anyone had the tiramasu there? DH lives for tiramasu.

Nooooooooooo! You have to go to DLR next week. You can't get sick now!

We are going THIS week, we leave on Friday! The fever is gone but the cold is still here......it's all in my head and it's yucky!!! Send me pixie dust so I get better FAST!

Oh no, you too!!!! I hope you're feeling better soon. I sort of wish I had a runny nose right now, then my head wouldn't feel so stuffed up. :(

Oh even more YUM!!!!!! Holy cow that sounds so good!!!!!!!

Thank You for all the advice on where to eat I will post a longer reply later. We did eat at a couple of places. And as far as being sick it was a terrible week for that I went to bed Saturday eveing not feeling well and did not feel any better Sunday morning. My son ended up spending the entire afternoon and evening in the hotel room with the stomach flu.

Ya, the whole being sick thing sucks!!! I'm feeling better but I'm still hacking and it's gross. DD9 is sick and so is DBF. :(

Cafe Orleans! MMmmm.....I can not wait to have their gumbo & pommes frites again! popcorn::
