I am a frequent lurker but do not post. I do not want to call Disney yet but I am not sure my DH is going to go with me on the cruise which would mean it would be just me. Reasons are not something I want to discuss. No trip insurance to cover this particular reason.

Do I need to notify Disney in advance? I am not looking to get any money back I just will need the vacation. I am the lead on the reservation. I still want to go and have no one to take his place and I am ok with it.

I would go ahead and notify them as soon as you know for sure he can't go. This will allow you to recover any part of the cruise fare you may be entitled to. If it's a situation where you may not know until after the "too late, we're keeping it all" date, then you can certainly wait.

Since singles are charged the same amount as if you had 2 people in the room, the only cost savings from DCL would be refund of the port fees. I would still notify DCL when you know for sure he isn't going, but I don't know of any particular reason you would need to.

For what it's worth, my very first DCL cruise was a solo one and it was a wonderful break from everything. Get a pass for the Rainforest room. Relax and enjoy yourself.

I would notify them because they have to give the entire manifest to the government. Also your husbands spot could end up opening a space on the lifeboat that would allow a family to possibly book a room currently marked as unable to them. No matter what you do it wouldn't change the price so no need to worry about that part. Solo cruisers are charges at 200%.

As PP said the fare will be the same - there will be very little $ left on the table regardless of when you call Disney. Do let them know once you are certain though, as they will be expecting him and have him on their manifest otherwise. People "miss" the cruise all the time, but there is no reason to not tell them once you are certain.

Not sure what the circumstances are, but my condolences regardless. :(

I hadn't even thought about the Rainforest Room!! Superb suggestion. Thank you

Another I had not thought about with the lifeboat situation. More than likely it will be very last minute that he won't go.

cant believe there isnt someone you know that would jump at the opportunity to go on the Disney cruise!!

Of course, there would be but I would rather go alone. I have always wanted to try that option.

Thank you all for the advice. I knew the fare was gone but was more curious about the manifest and such.

Nope singles are not charge the same amount if there is two people. Close but a little cheaper. I'm not counting port fees and taxes either. It's always been a little cheaper. Try putting in a cruise for 1 person than 2. It's close but a little cheaper.

This is true. I just checked and it could be cheaper by a few hundred dollars to travel solo. If nothing else it could pay for a pedicure and a few drinks. Hope you have fun
on your trip.

But the OP would be after final payment and just before the cruise so no refund.

If it's going to be a last minute decision, honestly, I'd just wait until you get to the port. No need to call DCL a couple of days before the cruise to let them know he's not going, you can just do that at the port when you check in.

We had a reverse situation. We had 5 in a 4A. My parents were next door (2 in a 4A). We could not add my brothers to my Mom's room because of the lifeboat situation. I called again a few weeks before, and they were able to be added.... now, in saying that...

If there is any chance your hubby may go, I would wait until the last minute in case. Once taken off, you may not be able to put him back on. Good luck, and have fun!!!

True. I didn’t think of that.

I have never been on a cruise alone but now that I think about it, I might enjoy that as well. I could sleep in, definitely hit the spa, hang by the adult pool, find a relaxing spot on CC, etc.

I have always wanted to do a solo trip so I am sending positive thoughts that it will work out for you no matter what happens
