Okay - so here's the deal. We have time in our little mini trip for one park - one day. We have been to MK about 6 times, Epcot twice. We have never been to MGM or AK. My children - 22 months, 6 and 11, love the MK. The 22 month old is a BL fanatic! The 6 and 11 enjoy riding the mountains. I was thinking we would just go back to MK. We have never been to WDW during the holidays - so I just started thinking - should we instead go to MGM? I was happy with my plan - but now I am having last minute second thoughts. Also - one day, one park is really our only option due to limited $ and limited time. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would go to the MK. MGM is more fun for older children, I think.

First off, I am assuming you won't be staying on-site, will have 1-day/1-park tickets, and will attempt to get as much out of your one day as possible (i.e. no mid-day breaks). So, let's go through each one:

MK: The big problem with MK that day is that they are having MVMCP that evening. So, unless you are willing to spend the extra fee to attend this, you will have to leave the park at 6pm. This also means there is no regularly scheduled spectromagic parade or wishes fireworks.

AK: I think AK has their EMH morning on 12/3 AND it is only open until 5pm, so you probably want to avoid that one.

MGM: Park is open from 9-8, with a showing of Fantasmic at 7.

Epcot: FW opens at 9 and WS closes at 9:30 with showing of Illuminations at 9:30.

So, if you are going for the longest day, I would suggest you consider either MGM or Epcot. MK may still not be a bad choice as there is no EMH there that day and a lot of people may wait to go to MK for MVMCP, so the crowds during the day could be fairly manageable.

Hope this helps!

MGM would be a good choice but, personally, it would be hard for my family to go to WDW without visiting the MK. With 4 choices, it's a win-win situation!!

Aren't they supposed to be filming the Christmas parade at MK that day? If so, that will probably affect the crowd levels. I've never been there for that, so it may just be that Main Street is unbearable but the rest of the park may have less traffic. Any thoughts from some veterans?

MGM does not have all of the attractions as the MK. ai think MGM is more of a "show" park meaniing they have more attractions where you are watching a show. They have a few rides, star tours, TOT, RR, etc. but I think it would bore the 6 and 11 year old, unless they like the thrill rides such as TOt and RR. AK is nice, I 've only been there once. MK still hold the #1 spot for me! I have been to the MK when they are taping the Christmas parade. Not that big of a deal. The majority of the action is on Mainsteet. Once you are past all of that it is manageable. I think they are filming on the 4th and 5th. We will be there that same weekend too! (12/3-12/5).
