so we were all sitting around the dining room table an hour ago....our last family meal before the wedding....
we were laughing and doing one of our stupid family things that we do when we're at WDW (arms up in the air like a tree - truly stupid and a family joke sort of thing)...

and i got very sad.....we'll never do that again as a family at WDW...
never again will it just be the 4 of us, goofing off and having a silly good time doing nothing at disney...
maybe if we're very very very lucky, we'll be able to visit again as an extended family, but never again as just the 4 of us...

the first time all 4 of us were at WDW together was 22 years ago, when DS was 6 weeks old....
just 6 weeks...truly a babe in arms......and now he's getting married....

i went through all the disney pictures last week...thousands of them...the 4 of us together....so many great memories...

i'm very sad....guess i'd better bring a lot of kleenex to the wedding

oh it will be ok!! Just think of what your new in-law will bring and maybe some great memories of new litle ones being too stinkin cute. always look for the cup half full side at least during the wedding.

I get teary eyed just thinking that same thing.... But I've got another 10 years at least before I have to worry about it.:goodvibes

Just think of doing the same thing with your grandchildren:love:

Hope the wedding is magical.

Just remind yourself how much fun it will be to bring your grandchildren to WDW someday. My parents no longer care about all things we used to do as a family. They just want to take my DS on Dumbo again and again and.........

We had so many fun times (at Disney and other places) as my kids were growing up and it seemed at the time it would last forever. As they started to go out on their own and bring other people into their lives things began to change. Those special occasions - like a weddings, first day at college, college graduation make the loss very real. I remember the feeling of happiness for them and also sadness for the things I was losing on those days. It's very natural to feel sad. Just don't let the sadness last. You have those wonderful moments and nothing will remove them but I found there were so many opportunities to create new memories if you let the sadness go and welcome the new people (or situation) into your life.

For me one of the saddest days was my daughter moving to NYC. She was so excited for her new life and all I could think of was that I couldn't see her every day and share things the same way, but we have evolved our relationship into a new and wonderful relationship. We still talk every day and my frequent visits to NYC are a treat for her and for me, and an adventure for both of us. We have so much fun together and she has had the opportunity to introduce me to many things in NY. I still miss those times with her every evening but am looking forward to our next shopping trip to Pearl River Market in Chinatown.

I also look forward to my yearly trips to DisneyWorld with my 2 granddaughters usually with their parents, and funny thing, my daughter (their aunt) always manages to find time to join us.

Awww, hang in there disneyholic!

I know how you feel. I really cherish our last "family" vacation. It was all too soon and our oldest DD was getting married and starting a family of her own.

Don't be sad. Now you will be able to take your in-laws to the parks and show them what a great place it is. Then come the grandchildren, etc etc etc.

my poor daughter was so sad tonight....she came downstairs hysterically crying that tomorrow is the last day her brother will be living at home..
she went on and on about why can't we all just keep living in the same house together....

we've always been such a close family......we do just about everything together.....

we've never been good at change....always take the same vacations...eat in the same restaurants week in and week out...order the same dish...
boring in a word....sticks in the mud....but happy sticks.. ;)
