One of the Best Trips Ever

DW and kids just got back from a 5 day trip to WDW. We had one of the best trips ever. Weather was perfect and much to our surprise the parks were not as crowded as expected! We were preparing for the crowds this past week given it was Presidents Day week. We were pleasantly surprised and were able to get on many of the attractions with limited waits.

We also did Universal for the first time this trip. Kids are 9 and 7 and are big Harry Potter fans. Felt a bit like we were cheating on the old mouse given DW and I have been Disney fans and going to Disney for the last 19 years with and without kids. We were a bit nervous that the kids would like Universal more than WDW. Turns out the apple does not fall far from the tree as the like WDW more as well!

We are extremely blessed and thankful that we are able to do DVC. Now on to try and figure out how to land a trip to the new Hawaii resort for the end of the year.

So glad that your trip was wonderful! I agree it a blessing to have DVC and go to Disney so often. We are crossing our fingers for Hawaii next summer as well. We are going to WDW in June and doing two days at Universal and it does feel a bit like cheating However I love Harry Potter to much not to give it a try.

That is good news about the crowds...we may have to start trying WDW at President's Day time due to school for the older kids.

Judging by posts, Harry is getting a lot of us, our family included, to give Universal a try for a couple of days.

Great to read your family had a wonderful time. A lifetime of memories that are priceless.

Will be taking our 9yo and 11yo DGSs to WDW in a couple of weeks and will spend a day at Universal. DW is reading the last HP book right now. She borrowed every book from a co-worker and has read them in the last couple of weeks to prepare for the experience since the boys really enjoy HP.

Yup, very fortunate to have DVC but this time we're staying at FW since the boys haven't been there in a long time.

We split the trip. We stayed a couple days at SSR and a couple days at Polynesian. I always wanted to stay at the Polynesian and this was our first time. It was very nice and convenient. With that said, I have to say SSR is my favorite. It has a nice relaxed feel.

This is a welcome post to read! One big hesitation to buying DVC was that we had never stayed at the Poly. I've always wanted to try that one, but new if I bought DVC I wouldn't be able to justify it. Maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be! At least that's what I'm going with!

Just got back too! We have done President's week 3 of the last 5 years.
The weather was indeed perfect. Did parks early & late and that helps with the crowds. It is nice to be able to go to the pool for a couple hours each day.
Magic Kingdom EMS on Sunday night was the only time it was real crazy. There was a gozillion people there. It didn't clear out a little bit until about 1230am.

We were there in Nov. and spent one day over at US-IOA to see Harry Potter as well. I think our children will always love Disney, but it is nice to break it up with something new! This year, we plan to try one day at the other US or Sea World. One thing they definitely do not have is the magic of Disney, though!

isnt it just great when you can have all the fun and none of the waiting around to get it. we went at the start of december once and it was really quiet walked on to all the rides no waiting time and then the opposite in july with hours to wait.
