Wanting to maximize our time at the resort at Vero Beach this June, we're looking for an inexpensive hotel for one night before we check in at Disney the next morning.

I'm looking at the Howard Johnson Express out near I-95. Anyone have any experience there or have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

We have stayed at Vero Beach a few times, and last winter drove down from Cocoa Beach. I would suggest staying at Cocoa Beach over staying along I-95. Cocoa beach is about an hour and a half north, with a great drive along A1A to get to Vero. The pier area at Cocoa Beach is lots of fun and its pretty. I would not like staying along I-95 - it is a good drive from the beach and boring as can be. It would be a waste of good time.

Look at Dave's site (www.dcltribute.com) for motels at Cocoa Beach. Stay at one along the ocean, then in the morning take a leisurely drive along the ocean to Vero Beach. Vero Beach resort is on the north side of town, along A1A, so you will be there before you know it.

Hampton Inn is pretty nice, in the same area. We've stayed there. New, clean. Not too close. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...o_Beach-Vero_Beach_Florida-Overture25927.html

I believe it is much closer than I-95. I haven't stayed in the rooms to know the condition, but the activities and live music are lots of fun. They rent jet skis and boats.
Here's 360 views of thier rooms

Melborne also has some great hotels. We enjoy the drive down A1A from Melborne to Vero. Once you get North of Melborne, it starts to get congested with too many stop lights. Melborne is usually a good place to jump back on I-95 to head home for us. I'd recommend Melborne before Cocoa Beach, but that's just me. Its only 45 minutes away -

Key West Inn looks the best to me.

We stayed at the Sleep Inn in Ft. Pierce, it was nice. We got in late, and checked out early, church and then VB. There was an adequate breakfast included.
