"One More Waffle!" An October 2011 TR! *Update 4/24, pg 70-The End!*

I'm sorry that you got sick while you were in Disney. :( There is honestly nothing worse than that for sure.

OMG, another conversation eavesdropper!? I do the same thing when I'm in Disney! I'm like you, I just love to hear about what everyone is doing and how they feel about their trip.

Thanks! Yeah, it was pretty awful being sick on our trip, but hopefully that means my next few trips I'll be perfectly healthy! :thumbsup2

LOL I love listening to people talk about their trips! I love hearing their strategies for the day, everyone always thinks they have the best, most efficient way to do Disney!

I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy your trip as much as you planned! That is kind of what happened on our quick holiday trip November of last year. I realized on that trip that I needed to have two things to fully enjoy myself at Disney: months of planning, and at least a week there. Anything less and I just don't feel immersed in the magic. :confused3 I hope your Disney break isn't too long! But I completely understand the need to push back your trip in May. I think that is a smart choice! You don't want Brandon getting so burnt out that he doesn't want to go back!

I love listening to other people's conversations at Disney, too! I agree that it's so much fun to get a glimpse into their vacations and their plans. I think Frontierland might be my favorite land at the MK. It seems like we spend so much time there. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I did enjoy my trip, I mean, I was in Disney after all, but being sick is not something I cope with very well! I don't mind a short trip, it was a decent amount of time to get that Disney feeling I wanted, but I agree, I do need the months of planning. I like the anticipation of going to Disney almost as much as actually going, and I didn't really get that with this trip since we were just there! :confused3 Brandon has agreed to go in September, so I'm just waiting to see what discounts are going to come out so I can book! They probably won't come out for another month or two, and it's agony waiting!

And I'm sure I could get him to agree to go in May, if I begged, but...then we would have to stay in a mod and cut back for the September trip and I want to go crazy for that trip! I already told him I want to stay in an Epcot resort and maybe even do club level, and he agreed! :thumbsup2 So as much as I'd like to go twice next year, I'd almost rather just splurge on that one trip! I really liked Pop and I like the mods, but...I've realized I'm a deluxe girl! :rolleyes1

I love listening to people's conversations! Sometimes if I hear them say something totally wrong I want to jump in and help them out, but then it will be obvious that I was eavesdropping!

Welcome back :) Sorry you got sick, there is nothing worse than getting sick on vacation :( Looking forward to hearing all about it though :)

Great update, its a shame that things were busy busy, but it looks like you were having a nice time :)

Thanks! Ugh, it was awful being sick at Disney! Having no energy at Disney is not a good thing when you want to be at the parks from morning til night! :rotfl:

MK was a lot of fun that day, even if we were there the night before! The crowds weren't too bad that day, except for the more popular rides, like Peter Pan, of course, and Splash!

I have had good luck meeting Mary and her penguin pals at DHS at the animation building in the afternoon time randomly

There were so many characters I wanted to wait in line to meet, but the lines were really long when we were there. I feel a little weird when I am in line to meet any princess...they are only the characters I feel weird meeting as an adult :confused3

I've heard that the penguins are in the animation building, but again, I've never seen them! I'm just never going to find them! :sad1:

OMG I can't even bring myself to meet the princesses! I would feel so stupid talking to them, I just can't do it! Sad, because I really want to meet Belle and Jasmine! Maybe next time!

Wow, you are back from your second trip already...why must they go by so fast? Sorry that it wasn't all you were hoping it would be and that you were (and still are) feeling bad!

Love the update for October though. I can't understand the Peter Pan thing either. I don't think we've ever waited more than 20 minutes or so but my SIL, BIL and DN6 waited over 70 minutes for it during our June 2011 trip...and I was just in SHOCK! :scared1: Of course, it was one of the few rides DN6 would ride, so I guess that makes it a little easier to understand since he had already been on it once during that trip! :)

Can't wait to read more about BOTH trips!! Sorry Brandon is no longer feeling the Disney love. I think my DH gets like that too...but once we are there he is usually into it again thank goodness...or I'd have to leave him behind! :rotfl:

I know, this trip went by really fast! I mean, it was short, but it was so quick...I can't believe at this time last week I was still there!

Wow 70 minutes for Peter Pan? I could never! :rotfl: I guess if you know your kids like it, that's a good reason to wait, but I'd rather just get a fast pass and come back later!

I think it was a mistake to go back so soon after our October trip. :confused3 If we didn't, we'd probably still be going in May, and then I could have probably talked him into a fall trip too, but...oh well! At least I get to plan a huge Fall trip this year! I'm more excited about that than our May trip! :cool1:

If you're using the Lines app (from touringplans.com) use the reported wait times instead of the regular list -- MUCH more accurate!

That's such a bummer that you got sick on your trip! It's so hard when you make all these plans for trips and then real life actually gets in the way. :sad2:

I get what you mean when you say Brandon being "Disney'd" out. I think Franklin might be heading that way after our October-March-October trip cycle that we're in the middle of. Luckily, my Dad's GF and I have been scheming about all of us going to Aruba for my Dad's 60th birthday in January 2013, so that would give us a nice, luxe, non-Disney vacation to look forward to (and the bonus would be it would only cost us for plane tickets!)

Back to the update. Love the picture with Buzz. We hadn't really done the character thing before our last trip and we found we really liked it. It's kind of like giving yourself over to the Disney magic completely.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of this trip and all about December, as well!

Thanks! I always wondered what the difference was between the reported times and the list...I'll have to remember that for next time! :thumbsup2

Oooh, Aruba sounds like fun! :thumbsup2 I'm sad that we aren't going in May anymore, but I'm already so excited to go in September! I just want to book so it's official, and I can't until some discounts come out! I think since we aren't going to Disney in May, we are going to take a trip, but it will probably be somewhere within driving distance. I suggested Boston for a few days, or Williamsburg, VA, both of those would be fun! I wish we could do a Disney Cruise...but that would be pushing it! :rolleyes1

I like meeting characters, but sometimes I feel so stupid! It's not so bad when there are other adults in line with you, but when you obviously stick out among all the other parents it's embarrassing! For me, anyway! Brandon couldn't care less! :rotfl2:

Thanks! I always wondered what the difference was between the reported times and the list...I'll have to remember that for next time! :thumbsup2

Yep, I learned that lesson on last year's trip. People in the parks post the wait times and FP times and that's what shows up in the reported times list. Whereas the times in the main list are based on touringplans.com formulas for that day's crowd level.

Sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I hope you feel better soon :goodvibes

I loved Mickey's Philharmagic and have to agree in it being a great show!

Okay so I've never heard of anyone meeting the Mary Poppins penguins :confused3 However I really want to meet them now! :rotfl:

I love the pic with Buzz and it sounds like it was a great M&G!

You have never seen the pics with the penguins on anyone's TR's? They are so adorable! I love penguins, so I'd give anything to meet the Mary Poppin's penguins! I can never find them!!! :scared1:

Buzz was great, I'm so glad we met him finally! Now we have to meet Woody!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I started my new December TR, here is the link:

Just Pretend the Raindrops are Snowflakes!

Hope you will all join me over there! I'm hoping to get through that TR quickly, since it was a short trip, I will try to do an update for each TR once a week, maybe I'll update the December trip twice a week, but I'm not really sure how writing 2 TR's at once is going to go!

No I haven't! :scared1: I'm going to have to do a search to find a TR with them. Hopefully you'll get to see them on a future trip :goodvibes

I'm going to go and join your new TR right now!

My poor October TR, all the way on page 3! It's so lonely back there! I knew it would get neglected when I started my December TR! I'll be back later to do an update for this one, it's been forever!

No I haven't! :scared1: I'm going to have to do a search to find a TR with them. Hopefully you'll get to see them on a future trip :goodvibes

I'm going to go and join your new TR right now!

They are so cute! I've been on a mission every trip to find those stupid penguins and nothing yet! I always see Mary Poppins everywhere, but no penguins! :sad1:

Mmmmm Oreo Bonbons!

Sunday 10/2 continued.

Wow it's been forever since I've update here! Almost 10 days, that's a long time for me! It's been busy the last week or so, with Christmas and work and everything, but things are starting to get back to normal, so I should have more time to DIS!

So I'm pretty sure I left off with us leaving MK and going back to WL for a little while. I don't think I mentioned in the last update that we took the bus back to WL again. We just wanted to get there quickly, and sit in AC since it was pretty hot, and there was already a bus there, with no one else on it! So the driver left and went down the creepy road by the Contemporary (does anyone else find this road creepy? Once you pass the CR, it seems like it's in the middle of the woods...). We were just chatting, not really paying attention, when the bus driver slammed on the brakes! :scared1: We sort of fell forward a little, and I think I said "what the f*&% was that" or something equally un-Disneylike, and the driver said "sorry about that, a deer just ran out right in front of the bus!"

That would have been horrible to have killed a deer in Disney World, so I went from being annoyed about basically being thrown out of our seats to happy that we just saved a poor Disney deer. Then the driver asked us where we were from, and we told him CT, and I believe he was from MA (is it me, or are a LOT of Disney CM's from MA?) and he and Brandon had a nice little talk about deer and New England. Yawn. :rolleyes1

We made it back to WL without almost killing any other Disney wildlife, and went up to our room to shower and nap. Before we knew it, it was time to head over to the Beach Club for our dinner reservation at Cape May Cafe!

We arrived at the Beach Club pretty early, around 4:30, and we checked in. Cape May doesn't open until 5, so we had some time to walk around the resort. Well, I did anyway. Brandon sat himself in front of the tv and watched old Disney cartoons:

P1000490.jpg

I went outside and wandered around, remembering our Disneymoon. I really, really loved staying at the Beach Club.

P1000494.jpg

I know I love the WL, but the Beach Club is almost as amazing. I really need to stay in an Epcot resort again. Soon. I really need to be in a place where Epcot is just a 5 minute walk away.

Brandon came out to find me, and said our buzzer was going off, so we went in and were seated at Cape May. Our server came over and explained everything to us, took our drink orders, and told us to go up to the buffet whenever we were ready! So we went right up and got our first plates.

P1000495.jpg

I didn't take a picture of Brandon's plate, but it was almost the same as mine, except he got a million of those little clams. I love the steak and mashed potatoes there. It's strange, you are supposed to go for the seafood, and I go for the steak, mashed potatoes, and ziti.

I think I got up for seconds, I got more mashed potatoes, but that was it. Brandon, on the other hand, had 4 plates. 4!!! He just kept getting up, and with each plate, I would tell him he would be sorry later, but he didn't care, he just kept getting more and more! '

In the midst of Brandon's gluttony, I got myself some dessert:

P1000496.jpg

The pink one is some kind of cheesecake. The other one is THE oreo bonbon. I'm sure you have read about it on the restaurant boards, right? :worship: It is so freaking good. I was so stuffed from dinner, but I made myself get another one, just because it was possibly the best dessert ever. It's almost as good as the chocolate moose at Le Cellier.

As much as I would have liked a 3rd, I stopped myself and just waited for Brandon to finish up so we could get to DHS. I looked around at all the cute details while waiting, the restaurant is so cute, so beachy, I really love the theme. Look, even the carpet is beachy:

P1000498.jpg

Eventually, Brandon was ready to give up, so we could finally go! It seemed like we were there for such a long time! As we left the Beach Club, Brandon wanted to call his Dad and tell him about how much he just ate (he was acting like he accomplished something SO great :sad2:) so I drove us over to DHS.

Once Brandon finished telling his father how much he ate, and told him how he needs to come to Disney sometime with us so he too can eat that much, or maybe even more, we went in to DHS. I love DHS at night, and knowing there were magic hours that evening made me so excited! It's one of my favorite parts of a Disney vacation, late nights at DHS!

I wasn't quite ready to go on any crazy rides just yet after eating so much, so we just walked around a little.

P1000500.jpg

The sun was starting to go down a little, which made the park look extra beautiful! The parks always look so pretty when the sun is starting to go down, but DHS looks like it is glowing sometimes.

We went into the Villains Store, and I traded my Vinylmation, finally! The CM was awesome, asked me who I was looking for, and I said "Marie or Buzz". She told me Buzz was really hard to find, but then handed me Marie!

P1000501.jpg

I know it kind of takes away from the blind Vinylmation trading, but...I like it when the CM's cheat a little! :rolleyes1 I was so happy to have Marie, she's one of my favorite Disney characters! However, that meant I was going to keep her, so I'd have to buy another Vinyl to trade!

By this time, we were ready to try a ride, so we went on Star Tours, which was a big mistake! Turns out, we weren't really ready to go on a ride that shakes you around like that, so we thought maybe we should walk around a little more, since we were both feeling a little nauseous!

We went all the way to the back of the park, where I noticed the sad Osborne Lights not lit up again

P1000506.jpg

and felt depressed at the thought of not seeing them this year. I again begged Brandon to go in December, and he said no, so I got more depressed, just looking at the empty streets, thinking of them being crowded, Christmas music blaring, snow falling...next year I guess!

P1000508.jpg

P1000509.jpg

*Sigh* I was trying to to let it upset me, but being back there, looking at the lights that were just waiting to be lit up for everyone in November and December was really getting to me. It was probably better to just leave that area all together, since I think by this point, Brandon was getting sick of my whining about the lights.

Up next...we finally do something in DHS, and "that's the line for Fantasmic???"

Great update, Jen. The Beach Club is the last resort at Disney that I want to try...I just love the theme and the colors of the resort. We've not done Cape May for dinner in a few years as we were slightly disappointed on our last visit (which I believe was in 2007 or 2009). I love crab legs, but the price has gone so high at Cape May.

Sorry you weren't quite ready for Star Tours...that is a jerky ride after having just ate.

It's funny that you say you neglect your TR and here I am, happy that I only had three chapters to read to get caught up!

Looks like the first part of your morning at MK was really nice! We're going back to Crystal Palace in July and it will be our first time back there since 2007! 4 years with no CP! Honestly, I LOVE the food and I LOVE the restaurant itself but it is so dang crowded in there, that that's the reason I hardly ever book it. But for our family trip in July, I wanted to try to get an ADR for around 8:30am or so, so that we can be in the MK before the park opens, and hopefully get some PP pics of all of us in front of the castle!

That pic of Beast's Castle in Fantasyland gave me goosebumps! You're right, it DOES feel like it's taking forever...but I saw that castle pic and got SO EXCITED!! It's going to be so amazing over there once it's all done! Although I thought the same thing as you did about having 2 castles in one park...BUT that makes us special because no other Disney Park has TWO castles!

Your meal at Cape May sounds fantastic! We had an ADR for breakfast there last year but we stayed at MK until 3am the night before and just couldn't get up that early for breakfast! Lumar and I are starting to plan a trip for 2013 for our 10 year anniversary and Cape May is DEFINITELY on the list...now I just have to decide if I want breakfast or dinner there!

DHS at night is beautiful! I agree with you...it just has a certain "glow" about it...like it's MEANT to be seen at night! Sounds like you had the same experience we had with the Fantasmic line.... can't wait to see what you did!

Oh and WELCOME BACK! LOL I didn't read all of the posts in between your updates...how was your mini-trip?? :santa:

Okay, Brandon sounds like most of the males in my family, bragging about how much they were able to eat. Crazy! I would have been feeling kind of icky too after eating at a buffet like Cape May too. I have no self control. I admit it freely.

I love the CM's that allow you to trade and ask what you're looking for.

I would imagine Buzz is hard to find. I lucked out and actually got him right out of the box.

I love the Beach Club and CMC! :cloud9: I really hope we're able to get the BC for our honeymoon. I wasn't planning on doing CMC again then but I've read a few TRs recently where people went there and they've reminded me how much we love it there! So good! Chris is like you, going for the steak, potatoes and ziti :rotfl: I remember he ate so much steak!

Dusk at Disney is probably my favorite time there. Every place you look is just pure beauty!

I love Vinyls! Chris' brother gave us two for Christmas and I've already put one aside to bring with us to trade :thumbsup2

Great update Jen. I guess watching cartoons can really work up an appetite! That's the only thing I don't like about buffets - I always eat so much that I feel sick. Those desserts look lovely and I really do love CMC.

Glad that your longing for the Osbourne lights paid off! :thumbsup2

I LOVE those oreo bon bons!! after growing up in MA I can see moving to FL to be a CM :rotfl:

Aww DHS at night is the best, I love the feeling of that park after the sun goes down!! I feel like ToT and RnR area looks so cool!!

Yay for Marie!! I love that one! :goodvibes

Great update and I hope your December trip was magical!:goodvibes

I feel the same way about staying at the Epcot resorts. We stayed at the Poly once and it was beautiful but I just always feel more "at home" at the Boardwalk:love:

CM dinner sounds great! We have only ever eaten there for breakfast, but after hearing about your dinner, we might try dinner! DH would be just like yours!!:rotfl:

Thanks! You will love the Beach Club, it's so beautiful! :lovestruc

You should give Cape May another try it's really good! I agree, though, it is pretty pricey for a buffet!

Haha, yeah, I should have known better not to do Star Tours, but I really thought we waited long enough! We didn't get sick or anything, just didn't feel to great for a little while!

It's funny that you say you neglect your TR and here I am, happy that I only had three chapters to read to get caught up!

Haha, I don't mean to neglect this TR, I just have so little time lately when I get home from work! Glad it was easy for you to get caught up!

Huh, I never really thought of CP as being crowded! I mean, the tables are always full, but I feel like there are never many people actually getting food! Maybe that's because they sit and wait for the characters, and we just go right up to fill our plates! :rotfl:

I'm excited for the new Fantasyland, I can't wait for it to be finished! I'm trying to plan a trip for September, and I keep seeing parts of the new Fantasyland will be open in October, which keeps upsetting me that I won't see it, but then again, I'd probably just rather wait til 2013 to see the whole thing finished, not just a few parts of it!

I personally like Cape May for dinner, but I've heard great things about the breakfast too! The only thing that annoys me is...no omelet station! I can't believe you're planning for 2013 already! (Ok, who am I kidding, so am I! When are you going, do you think?)

My December trip was pretty good, I was sick, so it wasn't as great as I had hoped...I started a TR for it, the link is at the bottom! :thumbsup2

Hahahaha bravo on Brandon's eating accomplishment!! I love DHS in the evenings too, the atmosphere is so wonderful!

LOL, I don't know if that's an accomplishment, but he was pretty proud of himself! :rotfl: DHS is so beautiful at night, that's why I love EMH nights there so much, I love to be there in the dark for as long as I can!

Okay, Brandon sounds like most of the males in my family, bragging about how much they were able to eat. Crazy! I would have been feeling kind of icky too after eating at a buffet like Cape May too. I have no self control. I admit it freely.

I would imagine Buzz is hard to find. I lucked out and actually got him right out of the box.

Haha, I think a lot of males brag about how much they can eat! Why, I don't know, I'm always ashamed when I eat a lot! I honestly don't think I ate THAT much at Cape May, but everything is so filling that you feel like you can't move afterward!

I really liked how relaxed some of the CM's were about Vinylmation trading...and some were SO strict!

I love the Beach Club and CMC! :cloud9: I really hope we're able to get the BC for our honeymoon. I hope you can get the BC for your DIsneymoon too! That's where we stayed, and I can't imagine staying anywhere else, it's perfect! :lovestruc Cape May is so great, Brandon loves it so much now that it's a must do for every trip!

I love Disney at dusk, it's so pretty! DHS is beautiful, and so is the World Showcase, sometimes you look at some of the countries and really believe you are there!

Vinyl trading is so much fun, I wish I got into it sooner!

Great update Jen. I guess watching cartoons can really work up an appetite! That's the only thing I don't like about buffets - I always eat so much that I feel sick. Those desserts look lovely and I really do love CMC.

Glad that your longing for the Osbourne lights paid off! :thumbsup2

Haha, I guess you're right about the cartoons! :rotfl: I try not to stuff myself at the buffets, but it never works, I always end up taking too much! The desserts were so good! They had all sorts of cookies and brownies too that I couldn't even try because I was full! :scared1:

Haha, yeah, I guess I nagged so much that Brandon got sick of it and gave in! And you know what's so annoying? It poured the night we went to the lights, so I feel like we barely saw them. Now I have to go again next year! :rotfl:

I LOVE those oreo bon bons!! after growing up in MA I can see moving to FL to be a CM :rotfl:

Aww DHS at night is the best, I love the feeling of that park after the sun goes down!! I feel like ToT and RnR area looks so cool!!

Yay for Marie!! I love that one! :goodvibes

I would love to move to FL and be a CM, it would be a dream come true! I'd miss the New England fall, though. And the snow.

So many people don't like DHS, I think it's such a great park! It's so pretty, especially at night! You're right, the area near ToT is really amazing looking!

Marie is so cute! I'm so glad I got her! :cool1:

Great update and I hope your December trip was magical!:goodvibes

I feel the same way about staying at the Epcot resorts. We stayed at the Poly once and it was beautiful but I just always feel more "at home" at the Boardwalk:love:

CM dinner sounds great! We have only ever eaten there for breakfast, but after hearing about your dinner, we might try dinner! DH would be just like yours!!:rotfl:

Thank you! Our December trip was pretty good, aside from the sickness! :sad2:

You have stayed at the Boardwalk? I'm guessing you liked it? I think that is my top choice for the resort for our next trip, but I'm having a really hard time decided between that and the Yacht Club! I just want to be in the Epcot area!

Cape May is great for dinner, there is a lot of seafood, but they have enough other choices that if you don't like seafood, you won't feel left out!

Haha, I don't mean to neglect this TR, I just have so little time lately when I get home from work! Glad it was easy for you to get caught up!

Trust me, I am so slow with reading TRs lately that I appreciate your "neglect"

CP feels...I guess CRAMPED is a better word...I never feel like there are too many people, just not enough space between tables to move around comfortably. Does that make more sense?

For 2013, we are definitely planning to go back for October. I thought about doing May instead, since we haven't been there for the F & G Festival and Star Wars Weekends since 2006....but F & W and MNSSHP win out! :goodvibes
