Just bought dvc last month and am planning our first trip for this Aug.We have a UY of Dec.Ihave 12 points left over that I have to bank by the end of this month. The rules say I have until end of May to book 100% of my points.Does that mean 100% of my leftover points or 100% of the total points of my contract(200pts)? TIA

You can bank the remaining 12 points in to your Dec 07 use year. If you had the full allottment of points, you would have been able to bank all of those as well. It's when you get into the 50 & 25% banking window when it becomes a little confusing. It refers to the percentage of the total allottment you had to start. So in the 50% banking window, you can bank 100 of the 200 points you began with. Hope that helps.

Funny I just bought 200 points Dec U/Y last month too. AND made ressies for Aug already!

You have to Wednesday May 31 before 5 pm to BANK all of your Dec 05 points. ANY points that were banked from 2004 into your 2005 use year can not be banked again BUT if I understand correctly you only have 12 points " leftover" When you make a ressie for this August use those banked/leftover points first BUT any points beyond what you will not use for the ressie for August can still be banked 100% by May and if your gonna use more than 50% of the points you then will have until Aug 31 and 25% until Sept 29( the 30 MS is closed )

Have any other questions I'll be glad to pass on any and all info I've gotten here at the Dis boards

Congrats :sunny:

A very handy tool to have is Caskbill's DVC Planner. It tracks all that banking stuff for you, and also adjusts for weekends and holidays, and tells you the REAL banking deadline. (For example, if the end of the month were Sunday the 30th, the REAL banking deadline would be Friday, the 28th)

And that's actually just a sidelight of what the Planner does. You have to see it to believe it. Wonderful, must-have software...and best of all it's FREE! You'll find it here: http://www.caskbill.com/

With 200 points with a December use year, you can bank a total of:

200 - May 31
100 - July 30
50 - Sept 30

As the others said, if the date falls on the weekend, the deadline is the Friday before.

I love that planner! I just started playing with it and it is a really cool tool!

Bank those 12 points now.

I usually bank any remaining points once I have planned all the vacations that I know about. If another surpise vacation comes up, you just borrow from the next year, which would be OK because you have the extra banked points in there, so you're not leaving yourself short of points.
