One more hotel question

I booked 4 nights at HoJo, premium room with a Disney view. I got the entertainment rate for the first and last nights and disboard rate for the other two. It will be just the kids and I for the first 2 nights and then DH will join us. He tells me that he doesn't want to stay at HoJo's, he wants to stay at the GCH. He admits he is a hotel snob. He travels on business a lot and stays at nice hotels. I couldn't care less, as long as a place is clean, it's fine with me. But why should I pass up an opportunity to stay at the GCH, right?

So, I booked 2 nights and got our parkhoppers through GAT. We'll now have 2 MM's. My question is regarding the first 2 nights. Should I keep my HoJo's ressies? I like the idea of the disney and fireworks view. Or should I switch to the Tropicana for the closer walk and free breakfast? Is the walk much further?

Thanks!

It's about 5 minutes' walk farther than Tropicana. It's much nicer than Tropicana, and your kids would love the pool and water play area. I'd stick with HoJo.

On the other hand, if your DH is such a hotel snob that he wants to stay at GCH, will he pay for all 4 nights at GCH? If you can swing the cost, why fool around with switching hotels halfway through? What a pain. GCH is fabulous and the closest of anything. If you can afford it, it's wonderful. I'm all for simplifying... :thumbsup2

I've stayed at both Tropicana and HoJo. Even with the extra 5 min. walk we much prefer the HoJo. I would keep my ressies there if I was you. :)

I do agree with Gail though, HoJo doesn't hold any type of candle to the GCH, if DH will spring for it just stay there your whole trip. MM will be free with your hotel stay and they have a great pool at the GCH. :)

I just stayed at the Tropicana a few weeks ago and it was fine. But we did get a room without a bathtub (shower only).

I have stayed at the a Desert Inn and Suites (2), HOJO (2), Camelot (2), Best Western Park Inn and the Grand Californian. I would probably book those 5 hotels over the Tropicana again if costs were about the same.

If we ended up with an availability issue I would stay at the Tropicana again (it was clean, felt safe, and had a friendly staff) but it would not be my first, second, third, forth or fifth choice ;)

A note on the 'free' breakfast - it is truly continental. Pastry, fruit, juice and coffee. They charge $1 for milk, bagels, and cereal. Very affordable charges, but there is the charge.

In my youth (while on my parent's dime), I stayed at some very high dollar international hotels under a 'Modified American Plan' which included a continental breakfast - so I was not unfamiliar with the definition of a continental breakfast - I was just not use to the 'good neighbor' hotels following it. The Desert Inn and Suites and Camelot both offer bigger breakfasts.

I agree with the pp's. :) Furthermore, if I was going to be staying with someone at GCH, and it was at their expense, I would say thank you. :)

OK, I just added 2 nights to the GCH.:cool1: So much for a cheap trip to Disney. At least we got good air fare.:rotfl: You were right. It would be a pain to switch 1/2 way through. I was trying to figure out the best way to do that. Thanks for putting the idea in my head.:thumbsup2

We'll be @ HoJo our 1st two nites next month and our last nite will be @ PP, I plan to have a taxi take our luggage and us to PP from HoJo.

Sounds like a good plan. :) I think that it would be very nice to stay at GCH. I hope that you and your family have a great trip and a wonderful time during your stay in Southern Ca. and at Disneyland.

If you don't mind, where did you get the disboards rate? Is there a thread with the code or do you just call and mention disboards? If you don't mind as well, what type of a discount was the disboard rate?

My family plans on staying at the Hojo, but I am trying to find a discount. The rack rate is a bit high for what we would like to pay.

Thanks!!!

When I called them, I just mentioned disboards. It's a 15% discount.

Missy, what are the dates you will be there?

You might be able to get their entertainment book rate. here's the link with the info:http://www.hojoanaheim.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=14

We will be there March 16-21st. I clicked on the link (thank you :) and noticed the first two nights are on there. Do you have the link for the disboards rate and how to obtain it.

I am so thankful for the information!!!

I called Hojo's and spoke with Jennifer. She was wonderful. Tell her the dates you'll be there and she'll find you the best deal, either through the 20% entertainment rate or the 15% disboards rate.

Call the Anaheim HoJo and ask for In House Reservations, either Jennifer or Lorealle are awesome to work with!! :) They will help you find the BEST rate. But do not call the 1-800 number, make sure you call the 714 number to get the right reservation line. :)
