OH.MY.WORD
I haven't forgotten this pre-trippy, seriously...I haven't. I have been super busy, but I haven't forgotten! Where do I start? Bats. I'll start with bats.
3 weeks ago Michael woke up to a bat in his room. In an I-just-woke-up-state he thought it was a bug and swatted at it. After realizing what it was he hid under the covers for a while and then wrapped himself up in a blanket and worked to get it to go outside. He succeeded and we left it at that. Fast forward a week and I woke up to a bat flying laps in my room. Did I mention the baby has his crib in my room?

I hunkered down under the covers till he found somewhere to hang (ugh) and then shouted downstairs for Elsa to run up the stairs, no questions asked. And she did. This was 1:30am. I handed her the baby and told her to run downstairs. And she did. I tried for 30 minutes to get that bat out the window and it wouldn't go. Elsa joined me for another 30 minutes and were unsuccessful. We had no choice but to snuff out it's poor life.

We put it in a baggie and decided to put it behind us.
After talking to a friend who is a doctor, she told me not to take this so lightly. She recommended for me to call the Heath Department ASAP and take their lead. I did. I quickly found out that when you wake up with a bat in your room and you don't catch it or kill it to be tested for rabies you are required to get the rabies shot. So, the Health Department came and picked up our dead bat to be tested for rabies, and then scheduled Michael for a series of rabies shots to be done that day, then at 3 days out, 7 days out, and 14 days. Poor Michael.

This is what started our crazy, crazy week!
Oh...and those shots are administered at a hospital 45 minutes away.
Sunday we went for his second shot and then Monday we had a physical therapy appointment for the baby at 10 am at the same hospital. Sometimes it sucks to live way out in the boonies.

Then that same day we had a neurology appointment for the baby at 2:00pm. This was 2 hours in the opposite direction...so we passed our house on the way to the second appointment. I hate when we have to do that.
Tuesday was Little E's 3rd birthday!!!! And we celebrated with gusto!
Oh, that's right. I forgot. I spent 6 hours on Sunday making Mr. Potato Head cake pops for his birthday. But they were worth every second of time spent!
I wish I could show you how very happy he was this day, but that will have to wait until after the adoption.
So where were we? Ok. That brings us to Wednesday. Wednesday was a light day for us. We got to stay home! Of course we were staying home because little E had speech therapy and then an hour of early intervention. We never seem to have free days here, but I will take the slower ones and run with them!
Thursday meets us with another long drive out for a rabies shot. This is right after we are informed that the bat we killed was negative for rabies and it's a 99.999999% that the other one was too. You know, the one he never touched. Gotta love a NY state law. We came home and it was time to start on Elsa's birthday cupcakes as her party was the next day. I had to tackle them on Thursday because Friday morning baby N had a 9:45 am eye/brain specialist appointment. But don't worry about me. This one was only an hour and a half away from us

Oh, and our baby sitter fell ill so I had to take all 5 kids with me. Joy of all joys.
We made it through with great news from the specialist and rushed home to prepare for the 5pm party. Elsa's black and white 12th birthday party. She had a WONDERFUL time!
We dined on turkey sandwiches on white bread with white cheese, cauliflower and mushrooms, deviled eggs with black filling, blackberries, white cheddar cheese, oreos, white popcorn, black licorice and mints! After dinner, cupcakes, and gifts the older kids went on a nature scavenger hunt. Some of their "finds" were rather creative
Everyone dressed in black and white and even wrapped in it too!
It was loads of fun and it officially wraps up the busiest week of my life. I am not joking. I don't think we have ever had this much going on in such a short time before. We logged 635 medical miles in the past 5 days, but we have lots of positives too!!! We had the pleasure of celebrating the lives of 2 of our family members, and we only had good, good news from the specialists regarding baby N! We have one more MRI scheduled for him to rule out anything else, but I think he is going to be just fine...and for this I am thankful!
We only have 16 more days till we start our vacation and even though we haven't secured reservations for Cinderella's Royal Table, I am really looking forward to a break from all the responsibilities!!!
Come one vacation, hurry, hurry up!
