I'm a convert. I used to use maps or print directions from google maps. Not any more!
The in-laws bought one for DD's HS graduation and we used it when we moved her in to George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. We knew how to get to the university, but that was it. I didn't even bring a map with us.
Well, the GPS was great!!! Used it get to find our hotel, to find restaurants that were nearby (didn't know the area at all), used it when we went into DC and to get the Potomac Mills mall. Plus, we felt better about DD having that in her car when we came home.
When my in-laws asked DW and I what we wanted for Christmas, guess what we told them?! We are now the proud owners of our own GPS. Now, we haven't really needed it so far, but from now on, whenever we go anywhere, I never need to bring a map.
I got a new one for Christmas; one of Garmins best models. It accesses real-time traffic data and it routed us around a major jam on I-65 at the bridge crossing to Louisville KY Christmas eve. No map can do that!
....(whisper) a Blackberry! Which is sacrilegious because DH works for RIM .
Seriously though, he keeps bringing home "the latest model" and then wastes time trying to show me how wonderful it is and how much better my life would be with one....
You know the reason I like driving my 4 door saloon as opposed to the coupe' is because its got a bigger boot. I always position my gps so I have a clear view of the bonnet
Yes you can. It's called an Android phone. The newer ones have Google Navigation. I have the Motorola Droid and I LOVE IT!!! I gave DH our old Tom Tom to put in his car. I can use this as a GPS and still get calls, browse the net, read email, etc. all at the same time.
I have no sense of direction so I'm lost without a GPS.
One gadget I could live without.....the iPhone. At&T sucks. LOL
But wait, Steve Jobs says you don't need to run multiple apps or background processes. Oh I know, he made that proclamation without his black turtleneck so it isn't gospel.
The navigation on the Android is the best I have seen out there.
