One extra person showing up for dinner at CG.

I have a reservation for 4 on 10/1 at California Grill. I just tried to add another person, but the system says there's no availability at all that day. If our extra person comes with us, will they let her join us?

Did you try calling and speaking with a rep?

My case was pretty easy, though I was adding 1 to a 3 person res.

I called they added them, still had the same time and I was all set. As I said though adding 1 to a 4 person res may be a bit harder.

I really don't know.....We have had to decrease, and that is no problem...As far as adding, I would think if the system says no room, there is no room . I would keep calling/checking up until the day of the ressie. People are constantly cancelling/rescheduling. GL

well you should call and see what they can do. i would not call the res line i would call the day of the res and speak to someone there. the cm may be able to just add it on to your res. if you do it online it may show nothing available

I would call the restaurant directly and speak to a manager. That is what we did for a reservation at O'hana and they were very accommodating. They also saved our conversation in their manager file so if we had any trouble at the hostess desk they could reference it.

I tried to add 1 child age 4 to our CRT and they said didnt have space...NO WAY..so I had to change my time..happened to all my ressies except for 1 and that was at 100 days out...some I had to change completely to a different place. I was adding 1 to a 9 person res..you might try making a ressie for a table of 2 for the same time or close to it..that way if they could puch tables together or at least sit close. Have done that one before too and ended up with everyone at the same table.

1) Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
2) Regardless what others have said, they have refused extra people.
3) It is a very popular eatery.
4) Just be prepared to send one of your party away if they say no.

We showed up for our CRT lunch reservation with 2 extra people (party of 10 instead of 8). They found all 10 of us a place.

The problem here is that the OP is going from 4 to 5. Standard tables accommodate 4 with a few 2 person tables. So, this ADR is now going from a reservation for 1 table to two tables. It's not that they have to find an extra chair, this is an extra table and actually having 3 empty spots at that table.

That's something a live manager is going to have to solve not the automated system so call directly in advance.
