One day touring

Travelling to Universal for one day from Disney. (4th August) Have booked one day 2 parks tickets with transport through Mears. 7.30 is the earliest time they will pick up and parks open at 8
I also have to pick tickets up on arrival.
We want to do all Harry Potter plus Hulk, Spiderman and Jurrasic river cruise in IOA.
Help me with a touring plan!
We plan to stay till about 5.

Do you have one day two park tickets or one day park to park tickets? There's a difference being you must have park to park access to ride Hogwarts Express. A basic one day two park ticket does not allow hopping so make sure you check that out.

If you are picking the tickets up at the kiosks, it shouldn't be a long wait.

Both parks are going to be packed so just try to do what you can and use single rider lines where applicable. You might want to wait to do HP until later in the day since you will already be behind the onsite resort guests with early entry. You'll have to see what kind of wait times you're looking at and if it's too long for you, plan to do other things then come back and try again.

Just checked I have park to park tickets so will be able to ride Hogwarts express. It's just me and my 17 year old DD so we don't mind a queue, but want to make the best use of time.
Can't decide if it's best to do US Diagon Alley first then spend the rest of the day in IOA or do Hogwarts first and park hop.

Good that you checked on the tickets. I think you should just go with the flow...DA will be extremely busy and since you won't be able to get there when the park opens, check on the wait times and then make the decision.

Since you have hoppers, maybe do what you said...try to do DA first along with anything else you want to do at the Studios then go to IOA for a while. The water rides will cool you off during the hottest part of the day.
