one day onsite rental?

(Search isn't working, so I hope you'll answer my questions.) Can someone give me the basics for an onsite one day car rental. I need to go off property to do several errands in different areas of Orlando. Where? How? Cost? Tips? Thanks.

You can rent a car at the Car Care Center over by MK. Or at the Dolphin. I use the Dolphin. Or you can rent at some of the DTD resorts. Prices will depend on day, time of year, type of car. Head to the different car rental company sites and see what's what for the place you want to rent from.

And your rental will be for a 24 hour period, not a calendar day - so you would want to rent from a location with a counter open in the evening, or plan to be up REALLY early.

Well, no, not REALLY early - if that's your entire plan for the day, you can wake up at a normal time, but you may want to wake up early the NEXT morning, to return the car.

I use the Dolphin.

Diane is right - I also rent thru the Dolphin as I find it alot easier than getting to the CCC.

What I'd do is set up a 1-day ressie thru either National or Alamo for pick-up at the Dolphin at 9am. On that day, I'd take the bus to MGM, from there you can walk or take the Friendship boat to the Dolphin. Pick-up the car and do whatever you need to. The next day, get back to the Dolphin around 8:45am, drop off the car and then you're already to head to Epcot or MGM, or you can catch a bus to the other parks.

I rented from Hertz at the Shades of Green. They came and picked me up, then dropped me back off at the Carribean Beach Resort after I returned the car. I had a Mustang Convertible and it was $52.99 per day with AAA. I bet other cars would be less.

Don't limit your search to Alamo/National. Avis and Dollar are also on WDW property and will send a courtesy car to pick you up.
