We are going to be at Disneyland next week Tuesday through Sunday. We have Saturday as our non park day. We won’t have a car since we’re staying across the street from the park. We’re planning to take an Uber to the Hollywood area in the morning and do a Starline tours tour of celebrity homes. We’ll be fine about 1:30. Any recommendations for the rest of the day? Planning to walk around and see the stars on the walk of fame. We were in California on a layover for a few hours over the summer and rented bikes and rode Venice beach to Santa Monica, so we don’t really need to see the beach. Is walking up to the Hollywood sign a good idea? My kids are big Lana Del Rey fans (hence Venice Beach and Starline tours 😂) Years ago we walked through the area where the oscars are held. I remember it being kind of open but also kind of indoors?? You could see the Hollywood sign from there. Is that open and do you need vaccination proof to enter that area (since it’s not fully indoors)

Santa Monica 3rd street promenade is very nice, with lots of shops and restaurants, and then you can walk across the street to promenade park which has a great view of the beach. Also of course Santa Monica pier is fun with the rides etc.

I don't think the Hollywood sign is worth it, really.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is okay, but the Forecourt of the TCL Theatre is really cool. That's where all of the handprints, footprints, pawprints, and hoofprints of celebrities are. My understanding is that the tours of celebrity homes are usually you seeing a giant wall or a giant gate, and that they are not usually worth it, but if it's something you can't cancel or really want to do, go for it.

There's great views of the Hollywood sign from Griffith Park. The Griffith Observatory is enjoyable too if someone is interested in astronomy or is a classic movie fan. If you have classic movie fans in the group, the Academy Museum (as in Academy of Motion Piction Arts and Sciences, aka the group responsible for the Oscars) may be open, but I have no idea if it's good because I haven't been there yet.

If someone in the family is interested in Greek or Roman history, the Getty Villa is fantastic, but that's in Malibu.

Oh wow the Getty villa looks like something my daughter would love! She’a studying philosophy and has a class this semester specifically on Greek/Roman influences. We are planning to hit the theater with handprints etc while we walk around Hollywood. The celebrity home tour is because my kids love Lana Del Rey and one of her album covers is her in the starlight tours bus. Thanks for your help!

@luvsvacation-The Getty Villa requires tickets that you need to book in advance, but they are free. It is tickets as a method of crowd control. Also, if you can afford it (because it is expensive) the Warner Brothers Studio tour is fantastic. If you want to see behind the scenes of an actual movie studio, this is the one to do.
