One Bedroom Handicapped Accessible Room?

What does a one BR HA room look like? Are the counters in the kitchen low? Do you still get the large tub? and, how does the shower look? I am assuming the bed is low, just like in a HA studio?

Roll in shower like in the studio, with tub. I actually don't think the counters are that much lower.

Also, the microwave is on the kitchen counter, and the one we were in last month didn't have cabinets under the kitchen sink, that area was slanted in so that wheelchairs would be able to get right up to the counter. This was at BWV, and I also don't think it had the raised "bar" area to eat at.

Actually the accessible units vary depending on the DVC resort and in OKW's case it depends on the bldg #. I will answer for OKW.

Bldgs under 30 the 1 BR is virtually like the other 1 BR except for the roll in shower, raised toilet and bars, plus lower clothes bar to hang clothes. Bed hight is standard.

Bldgs 30 and up. Kitchen...side by side fridge, no disposal, lower counters. The bath is like above. Ditto the bed.

OKW studio, the queen beds are very high.

The beds at HH and BCV are very low. Don't know about the other resorts.

I did go to Allearsnet.com prior to posting this. We are staying at BCV and the only HA that is in Deb's photos is a studio at BWV. I looked at BCV, BWV, VWl, and SSR since the floor plans of these seem most similar.

Our 2 bedroom handicapped VWL unit last September was missing the bar, microwave was on the counter (not above the stove) so less counter space. Also the kitchen was bigger to make room for the wheelchair and the living room was smaller (because the kitchen was bigger). The bathroom still had the hot tub, but the shower was the roll-in kind. There was a fire extinguiser down low in the 2nd bedroom that we kept having to block off to keep the two-year-old from grabbing. Also, the stove dials were easy for him to reach and we had to constantly watch him.
