One became SEVEN?!? How did THAT happen? 4/24 UPDATE

Tracy, I'm so glad to hear Emile is doing better. Those bags are amazing! It's nice to see Pocahontas get some love, I feel like she is very underrated as a Disney Princess. princess:

Judy, I needed those positive quotes today :grouphug: School is kicking my butt, I feel like I have a million papers and exams before the semester is over, but it'll all be worth it in the end!

I am glad that DQ was a hit! I've been twice and there are so many fun things to do. That cupcake :lovestruc you know I am a cupcake fan, that looks delicious!

Hmm...how does one keep themselves occupied in Disney World? :lmao: I love browsing in Downtown Disney, particularly in the Art of Disney store where I look at all the gorgeous art I can't afford. There's also a boat ride to the Port Orleans resorts if you want to look around there and get some beignets!

Loved the quotes, I needed that today as well. You are such an inspiration. :goodvibes

I love the pictures of Christian, David and Rachel enjoying the food at Disney Quest, you can tell they like each other. :thumbsup2 The food actually looks good.

Glad that Christian, David and Rachel had fun at DQ. It's pretty hard to take pictures in there since you are always using your hands playing something. Glad that Lisa will join them next time. Now what can you, Pete and Tracy do while they are there? :scratchin Go shopping, see a movie, have lunch or tour around the resorts that are close by and finish up with desert at Ghirardelli or Goofy's Kitchen. :thumbsup2 I know you all will have fun whatever you decide to do.

Thanks Judy! Right back at you!

E-mail sent with the pecan recipes and other information you asked about and a little more! ;)

Have a wonderful day everyone!
Thanks Gail.

I can'WAIT to dive in to all of the emails! I know there is some great stuff there. Praying your day was good. :goodvibes
All this talk of grits and pecans is making me hungry! We had breakfast for dinner a few nights ago and grits were on the menu. Love me some grits with lots of butter and cheese. Tracy, you gotta try them!
Oh my Lisa, I think you and I could cook up a mess of good eatin'! I LOVE Breakfast for dinner, so yummy. Lisa loves her grits with cheese...me? I love them with butter and salt...Everybody else...like it both ways. Pete? He is a convert. They will never be his favorite, but sometimes he even asks for them. :lmao:
Loved the positive thought quotes!! Happy Friday!!!
Thank you, Happy Friday to you as well!
Sorry I missed your previous questions - DH is doing very well. Back to work since Oct 1st and getting stronger every day. We go back to the surgeon mid Dec and really interested in seeing how well the bone graft has taken.
No worries, I miss things all the time. I can't wait to hear a great report about the bone graft! :thumbsup2
Didn't make to Charlotte that weekend. My grandmother was in the hospital due to a mild stroke - thank goodness she is improving and it was very mild.

Have a great weekend!!!
I am so sorry to hear about your Grandmother, your family has had more than their share of medical problems. I am thankful she is improving. Prayers for you and I HOPE you make it to Charlotte one day! :flower3:

Elf on the shelf sounds like a lot of fun (and work :rotfl2:). So happy you are having a great time with it. :goodvibes

Scouting will definitely keep you busy! It seemed like we spent LOTS of time with those activities when the boys were younger. I always liked how our troops included the entire family.

It's been fun. I'll have to share some of the creative one's we do this year. Last night he found Jeremy's Buzz Lightyear remote control and was hanging on him.

Yes it is. Our troop/pack also makes everything family friendly so when the pack when to the firehouse Sarah went with DH and Jeremy. I stayed home with James and am glad I did. There were about 50 - 60 kids there and it would not have been enjoyable for any of us to have to keep chasing him down.

Love that the kids had a great time at DQ!! You can tell that they get along and have a great time with each other.

Happy that Lisa will join them this year. I'm sure you guys will find plenty to do. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear good news about Lisa!

We found out tht my son will graduate college the same day my youngest finds out if she gets her scholarship. Please pray that bethany will be awarded her scholarship!!
Sending :goodvibes to Bethany for her scholarship.

Yes it is. But it is lot's of fun. The kids love it and just seeing their joy makes me smile. Here's a little bit about how it came about. http://www.elfontheshelf.com/content/about-elfs-story

I'm so glad to hear that Emile is doing better. Love hearing the updates on him.
That is a cute story about the elf.
Thanks, glad to share the happy stuff about Emile, hopefully he keeps growing :)

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for my family. My dad is doing okay, still don't know what is wrong though. Everyone is coping okay, they are staying at my dad's house for right now. The hardest part is the little one, she keeps asking to go home and sleep in her bed, none of us know how to tell her that it isn't there anymore.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone!

Marilyn
Awn, it's so tough on the little ones when there is such a big life change like a fire, that they don't quite understand. keeping them in my thoughts and prayers :goodvibes

I do NOT like cream of wheat and am not familiar with red river. If you ever DO eat grits, make sure the person who cooks them knows how to prepare them. There IS an art to it.
May today be LESS busy!

Maybe red river is a Canadian thing? It's bird seed, I don't know how people can eat it. :rotfl2:

I will have a busy weekend, but good busy :thumbsup2

All this talk of grits and pecans is making me hungry! We had breakfast for dinner a few nights ago and grits were on the menu. Love me some grits with lots of butter and cheese. Tracy, you gotta try them!
Grits and cheese?!? Sounds interesting. I like breakfast for dinner, but usually I do omelets. mmm, eggs

Loved the positive thought quotes!! Happy Friday!!!

When I last left you Pete, Lisa and I had just had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Christian, David, and Rachel were playing at Disney Quest. They had a wonderful time, we dropped them off just before opening (noon) and didnt pick them up until around 9:40 PM. I fed them a big breakfast and they had granola bars and water for snacks. They also each had a Disney Gift Card for food. For lunch they each chose a chicken fingers basket with fries and split a drink. According to all three, they were yummy and very filling. Later in the day they wanted to try a cupcake, so they split one and another drink. They each came home with money on their cards.

People often ask me if my children get along as well as I claim and if they actually like each other; as you can see from the pictures, the answer is yes. One of their favorite activities at DQ was Go Go Jungle Safari, a collaborative game. As Christian said we might butt heads on occasion; but, we always have each others back...what else could a Mom ask for?

They were too busy playing to take many photos; however, I do have a few foodie pics...I have taught them well, I am so proud....sniff sniff...:rotfl:

They had such a great time at DQ, they would like to go back. We have water park fun and more tickets left over so this is a no-brainer. Lisa would like to go to DQ this time and they are all happy about this. They actually convinced her how much fun she would have and she of course loves spending time with her siblings, so we have said yes. Pete, Tracy and I have no desire to go, spend the money etc...so we will have to figure out SOMETHING to keep us occupied :lmao:....any suggestions? popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

Glad they had fun!! Great that they get to go back and Lisa gets to go :yay:
Yes, what shall we do with ourselves all day? :beach:

Yes, Pocahontas doesn't get much love. It's a great movie!!
Sorry to hear you are struggling with school - it will be worth it!
Boat ride is a great idea, I hear the beignets are great.

Glad that Christian, David and Rachel had fun at DQ. It's pretty hard to take pictures in there since you are always using your hands playing something. Glad that Lisa will join them next time. Great ideas! Although we can't go see a movie without David. Touring resorts and desert sound good to me!

Glad the quotes helped, I know they did me. :goodvibes I remember the stress of end of the semester stuff, plus you have a lot of extra stuff on your mind, there IS a Disney trip to be dreaming of! Don't they KNOW you have very important things to plan? :confused3:yay: I am glad in just a few short days you will be immersed in your happy place! :thumbsup2

They said the cupcake was delicious...I am certain ONE little girl will need a cupcake all to herself...Lisa is IN LOVE with cake of all types! To be fair, she gets it honestly, when she was little and couldn't chew and had difficulty with swallowing, one of her feeding therapies included only eating whipped cream, and later frosting, because the texture was all she could manage. We did oral feeding therapy for many years. I think it is another reason she loves meat so much, for years she couldn't eat it unless I chopped it into pieces she didn't have to bite or didn't need to be chewed.

I like your idea of shopping or getting beignets...of course if we do THAT, I will not be able to tell Rachel! She is obsessed with al things New Orleans, etc and I KNOW she wants to see Port Orleans..oh Tracy, I think we will have to do that with the children. :thumbsup2

They DO like each other, I am thankful. :thumbsup2 I hope they will be friends for life.

Glad that Christian, David and Rachel had fun at DQ. It's pretty hard to take pictures in there since you are always using your hands playing something. Glad that Lisa will join them next time. That is so true about the pics! I have never been inside, costs to just walk in the door. David and Christian have been several times, they love it. So did Rachel. It is a little nerve wracking to let Lisa go, I didn't want her to last time (and she wanted BBB so that was easy). I was worried if she was there Christian would spend more time making sure she was okay vs having fun. He has assured me that will not be the case. David and Rachel also worry about her, so I know she is in good hands. It will be strange, because it is a rare moment that at least one of them isn't with me. I like al of your suggestions, although I think Goofy's Kitchen is only at DL...Last year when the girls got made up at BBB and my guys were off on their own, we splurged at Ghirardelli's for the girls. I had a bite of each of their treats it was YUMMY! :thumbsup2 Great ideas. :goodvibes

I look forward to seeing what the little elf does this year. :thumbsup2 It is always fun to send Daddy with the kids while you get a little time with the littlest one at home.. I do miss that. They often wind up dong things with their friends as a group, I love that too. I pray they will always be close. Lisa is very excited to be gong off with them...they have been giving her the rundown of the many games they can play as teams...my little baby isn't a baby anymore...:sad2:

Maybe red river is a Canadian thing? It's bird seed, I don't know how people can eat it. :rotfl2:
BIRD SEED?? YUCK!!!! Now I have to google it. :rotfl2: Grits DEFINITELY isn't bird seed, it is a yummy, delicious creation that must be prepared by a skilled individual! :thumbsup2 OTHERWISE, it tastes YUCKY!
I will have a busy weekend, but good busy :thumbsup2

Yea for busy good!! :thumbsup2

Grits and cheese?!? Sounds interesting. I like breakfast for dinner, but usually I do omelets. mmm, eggs
Rachel HATES eggs. :rotfl2: Everyone else likes them. Omelets are yummy.
:thumbsup2

Glad they had fun!! Great that they get to go back and Lisa gets to go :yay:

Day at the pool with Pete waiting on us...sounds good to me...Oh Cabana Man...:rotfl2:
Great ideas! Although we can't go see a movie without David. Touring resorts and desert sound good to me!
Yes, David would want to see the movie, he loves a good one! Resorts and Dessert? I am on board! :yay:

Judy, you are right that Goofy's Kitchen is at DL. I meant Goofy's Candy Company.

The next 3 days we are forecasted for cold, freezing weather with possibility of snow. I'm staying inside and baking to keep warm.

Have a wonderful weekend!

We had a wonderful family night last night. As many of you know, the girls are in the School of Theater Training at our local Children's theater. We were gifted 6 tickets to the opening night of Miracle on 34th Street and it was FABULOUS! Even David who doesn't care for the theater, enjoyed it. He almost didn't join us, but because everybody else was going he didn't want to miss out on Family time. I am glad he didn't as well. :goodvibes

Pete has my van at the shop, praying it will not be too expensive. We have much to do today. Before I take off in many different directions I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my blessings, which include those of you here on the DIS who are TRUE friends, through thick and thin. I try to count my many blessings daily, not just during the month of Thanksgiving, and I hope you do as well. Life is fraught with many challenges, but with folks to commiserate with, to ask for prayers and to share our blessings...it makes the journey so much easier.

Why not log in, say hi and let us know you are part of the thread. It can be a simple...I am new here, a wave, whatever...shouldn't take you more than 2 minutes...there are LOTS of you reading and lurking according to my PM box, please don't be shy to join in. :flower3: We don't bite...well, at least not TOO hard! :rotfl2:

Thank you Krystal. It was so great to talk to you the other night, your excitement was contagious! :goodvibes Remind me later to tell you a comment David made out of the blue last night. :rolleyes1 Safe travels as you head back to that wonderful place! :goodvibes I will tell you when we receive our mail. I know your group would love DQ from what I have heard. I am happy you liked the quotes, they uplifted me. :goodvibes

Krystal, your post must have posted twice when you refreshed your page (How do I know, I have done it before :rotfl2:). It must mean I need to let you know I am praying hard for safe travels. :goodvibes

Holy guacamole!! And you need that van to fit everyone! That just stinks. I how it's fixed for good now.

:scared: about your van and vehicle repair bills this month. Praying that it's the last for a long, long time! How nice that you were given free tickets to see the Miracle on 34th Street play. Glad that David went with the family.

Just finished making the pecan tarts. Had to give you a heads up if you want to try the recipe. Wait more than 2 minutes before taking them out of the pan. They were still too warm and a few had the bottom stay in the pan. We got to sample those though. :thumbsup2

Giving thanks for the many blessings that God has brought us through this year. It hasn't been an easy one. Just filled with more faith to trust in the One who has everything under control. Thankful for the many wonderful friendships and support made on Judy's threads!

The Disney Quest pictures are great. Brings back memories for me of when Grumpy was a little boy. We use to eat there when it was the cheesecake factory express. That cupcake looks pretty and very chocolatety. We actually stopped going to Disney quest when the food changed. We've only gone a few times since.

That's wonderful that your kids get along so well and are each others friends.

I would love to hear what your elf gets up to :thumbsup2

I'll be sure to share what he does. Last night he found my DH's Winnie the Pooh mug and was hanging out in it. Took the kids a little bit to find him.

It is fun to just hang out with them one on one every now and then. I know it's just a matter of time before their friends become priority over mom and dad. :sad2: No matter how old they get they will always be your babies in one way or another. :grouphug:

$1,800 to fix my van...AGAIN. That makes almost $4,000 this month alone on vehicles...Still counting my blessings!! Counting them even HARDER now!!!

Ugh! So not good!! Hope it's fixed for good this time and no more worries for a while.

Yes! I am taking a break from a paper right now and thinking about how I'd much rather be in Orlando. I am doing my best to not have to bring any homework with me to Disney but I may have to do some reading on the plane.

A girl after my own heart, I love love love cupcakes. I had a delicious red velvet one today. It is wonderful how far she has come from having so much trouble chewing to loving her turkey legs :goodvibes

Oh yes, Rachel would not be happy if you went without her! I would definitely recommend visiting. I stayed at Riverside a few years ago and will be back in a few days!!! It's beautiful, lots of nice mansion-type buildings. I visited French Quarter two summers ago when my sister had a dance rehearsal near there. That is a very fun resort, more Mardi Gras-themed and that is where you get the beignets! When I went one order came with three beignets so you can grab a couple orders to split! I know there is also a very fun performer named Bob Jackson who does FREE comedy/music shows at Riverside Thursday through Sunday nights. Not sure if we will see him because it is a quick trip but I just read a TR that talked about him and apparently he is fantastic!

My goodness! I am forever catching up. I'm back in town and wanted to check in and see how you are doing. So sorry about the car repairs. :worried: For whatever reason you just can't catch a break with that. But preserver you do and you deal with it so well.

I hope you and the kids enjoy your weekend. :goodvibes
