One became SEVEN?!? How did THAT happen? 4/24 UPDATE

Hi all! I just wanted to share that we are at home and in our own bed tonight!!

Thoughts and prayers to all!!

I know I've liked every post you've put on FB (close to it. :rotfl2:) But I will say here YEAH!!!! CONGRATS!!!

I already read "the rest of the story...as Paul Harvey would say). WooHoo

It's nice to have the decorations up (now to pull out the nativity set.) Maybe tonight our Elf can do that. We do the Elf on the Shelf and he showed up last night. The kids couldn't be more excited to have him back!!

Oh I could have said something so good here....

Like he's a guy and doesn't notice much? :confused3 That would be my DH. :rotfl2: Sorry love them but some days it's like having another child. Oh who am I kidding it's like having another child every day!! :rotfl2:

Still not quite herself, but getting there!

Glad she's on the mend. :flower3:

You can ONLY do what you can do, I learned that a LONG time ago. It makes things less disappointing. One thing with four kids, there is always a party going on, even with just your immediate family!

And that's all I do. Last time I saw some of them was when Jeff and I got married 10 years ago in May. I've invited them to baby showers, birthdays, etc and nothing but oh well it is what it is. Oh yes just in our little family we have a lot going on especially now that Jeremy is in Cub Scouts and Sarah is in Girl Scouts. They are both loving it though and that's all that matters.

Yes, yu can't argue that the village will look even nicer! :thumbsup2 It changes our plans around considerably...I guess more me time and less volunteering on vacation is a good thing! :thumbsup2

Your right the work at the village is a way to force you to have more me time. Since I know you don't get much of it. :grouphug: Regardless I'm so positive you guys are going to have another great trip!!

Hi Judy, I know that the family will enjoy the pecans. Billy wants me to make pecan tarts instead of a pie. I'm trying a new recipe that uses almond flour. I asked Bob last night if he wanted pumpkin pie and I'll make that for us. Billy doesn't care much for pumpkin pie. This will be our first gluten and grain free Thanksgiving. Praying that the recipes I'm using will all work out okay! This is our favorite holiday since we don't celebrate any of the others.

:cool1: about Lisa's latest BP and INR numbers!

Tracy, forgot to mention that your new Disney bags are really nice! So glad for the updated report on Emile that he is doing better with the antibiotics and gaining weight.

Michele, glad that you and the family are back in your home!

Marilyn, sorry to read about the fire at your step-mom's house and that you dad is back in the hospital. Praying for them all.

Praying for all the requests posted too!
Great to talk to you again today! I would love the recipe for the pecan tarts please...hmm, maybe I know what to make with my almond flour! I don't care for pumpkin pie eithe,r but eveyrbody else does...of course I LOVE pumpkin cake! (I know....).

I hope Lisa stays stable, at least through the holidays!
Ever since I joined the DIS I have found myself hopping on first thing every morning and during my lunch break. (yes, I am eating my lean cuisine and typing as we speak before I return to the mountain of invoices on my desk)
I know that feeling! :thumbsup2
This brought such a smile to my face!! How wonderful that these kids did not let this one person ruin what great things they are doing. I applaud all the kids for their critical thinking skills and problem solving to help others in need. AMAZING!!!

Judy, sorry to hear GKTW will be closed while you are there.

Prayers continue for Emile!!
Thanks Alyson. :goodvibes

I think you missed my post asking about DH. Also, did ya'll make it to Charlotte to the Fairgrounds the weekend of the walk? If you get back this ay, please let me know so we can meet. :goodvibes

Hi all! I just wanted to share that we are at home and in our own bed tonight!!

Thoughts and prayers to all!!

I am so happy to read this! I know that you are all more than happy to finally be settled into your new home. Sweet dreams!

Marilyn, my heart breaks for your family's troubles this week. I am glad everyone made it out safely, but to lose everything like that must be just devastating.

Michele - you are in your house! Fabulous news! Please post photos when you get everything moved in. I am so glad you will be home for the holidays!

It's been snowing all day and is bitterly cold so I am camped out here at home with a cup of tea and my crocheting. I am trying to make scarves for all the kids' teachers both at church and school this year, and I have 14 done so far, 12 to go. Knockin' out about 1 a day while I wait in the car pickup line or watch a video.

We'll be away next week, so I will quickly wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope it brings you many blessings and happy times with those you love.
Stay warm!!! I really would love to see the scarves! How is David? Better, I hope. Have a wonderful holiday and may God bless you as well!! :goodvibes
Judy and Tracy, I just stopped by to say hi and hope you both are having a wonderful day. I join with others in saying I love this thread. :goodvibes
Thank you! We love you as well. :goodvibes Thanks for logging in so much! :thumbsup2

It's nice to have the decorations up (now to pull out the nativity set.) Maybe tonight our Elf can do that. We do the Elf on the Shelf and he showed up last night. The kids couldn't be more excited to have him back!!

I have only heard about Elf on the Shelf the last year or to. It sounds like a fun tradition though. :goodvibes We will not actually decorate until after Thanksgiving, but doing lots of "pre-stuff" now.

Like he's a guy and doesn't notice much? :confused3 That would be my DH. :rotfl2: Sorry love them but some days it's like having another child. Oh who am I kidding it's like having another child every day!! :rotfl2:

We will go with that. :rotfl2: Yes, it IS like having another child...

Glad she's on the mend. :flower3:

Thank you. Me too! :goodvibes

It can be hurtful, I know. Yea for scouting, glad they are loving it. :goodvibes

Your right the work at the village is a way to force you to have more me time. Since I know you don't get much of it. :grouphug: Regardless I'm so positive you guys are going to have another great trip!!
We will be in Florida with TRACY, it is going to be FABULOUS!!!

I have only heard about Elf on the Shelf the last year or to. It sounds like a fun tradition though. We will not actually decorate until after Thanksgiving, but doing lots of "pre-stuff" now.

Last year was our first year with the elf. The kids were talking about it because of their friends and wanted to know why we didn't have one. Well I had to fix that. It's been fun doing it. Last year he put up our Christmas tree (only put a couple ornaments on it and left a big mess and all the other ornaments out for the kids to find the next day), left new jammies on Christmas Eve, hung from the chains on our ceiling fan, hid in our tree, left little gifts in the kids stockings when they were really good, got trapped in our cake/pie plate with his face covered in chocolate (he stole a couple bites of cake and wrote help me on the inside) and a few other things. It was really fun and the kids loved trying to find him the next day. Now we've got to get more creative.

We will go with that. Yes, it IS like having another child...

:rotfl2:

Yea for scouting, glad they are loving it.

The do love it. It's just been more activities than I was thinking. More so with Cub Scouts than Girl Scouts. Last weekend was all about scout activities. On Saturday we had a Den meet for Jeremy and then on Sunday we had a Pack meet on the USS Hornet. It was a lot of fun but very tiring. And I did very good when we went out to eat both days for lunch and kept my numbers below where they could be.

We will be in Florida with TRACY, it is going to be FABULOUS!!!

You'll be on vacation with a great person!!! Your right it is going to be FABULOUS!!!

Tracy glad to hear that your nephew is continuing to improve.

Judy, glad that Lisa's BP and INR is good. Congratulations to her for getting 20,000 views.

If I could ask for some extra prayers for my family. My step mom's house caught on fire yesterday afternoon. It was contained to one room, but then last night in the middle of the night it started burning again, and is pretty much gone. Her, my stepsister, and 3 year old niece lost pretty much everything except a few clothes they had grabbed after the first fire. They thought they could get the other stuff later. Then my dad had to be admitted to the hospital today too.

Thoughts and prayers to all that need them.

Marilyn
I am so sorry to hear about your step mom's house, it is so hard to lose everything like that. Praying for them and your father.

Sorry to hear about GKTW being closed while your there. But as others have said it is for a good cause.

Well we did get our tree decorated today so that's at least done!!! YEAH!! I don't go all out (even though I'd like to) but at least it's done. The kids really enjoy putting their ornaments on the tree and helping with the other one's too.

Yeah Emile!!! Also read he's doing well on the antibiotics. I love hearing the updates on him and will keep praying for that adorable baby!!

Lady and the Tramp is my favorite movie of all time. Hence the Lady part in my user name. :rotfl2: That was so nice of her to try it and it did turn out great from the pictures!!
Thank you for your prayer for Emile.
Ah, I didn't put together lady and the tramp and your user name. How great that you got a bag with your favorite movie. :flower3: I have a hard time choosing my favorite movie, I like them all:rotfl2:

Hi all! I just wanted to share that we are at home and in our own bed tonight!!

Thoughts and prayers to all!!
In your own bed, really!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:That is so exciting! Just in time for your thanksgiving!

:lmao: cute ninja

Yea for you! :yay::yay::yay: Now YOU can take lots of great shots with your fancy camera! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 So excited!
Tracy, forgot to mention that your new Disney bags are really nice! So glad for the updated report on Emile that he is doing better with the antibiotics and gaining weight.
Thank you!:goodvibes

:rotfl: It is addicting!

Prayers continue for Emile!!
Thank you!!

Tea and crocheting sounds like a great way to spend a snowy day. How nice for you to make all those scarves! Have a great trip and hope you have a good Thanksgiving.

Well it's actually a tie between Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp. But I can find Cinderella stuff and having a hard time finding Lady and the Tramp stuff. I do love all the Disney movies so I understand about having a hard time just picking one!!

Continued prayers for Emile and your family.

I promise I wil not make you grits, everything else is fair game! IF you eat it, you might like it.... :rotfl2:
Yeah, I'm not sure about grits. I like cream of wheat but don't like red river. I have a feeling grits are more like red river. But I will try almost anything once.

That is such FABULOUS NEWS! He is a little fighter, what a great increase! :goodvibes:cheer2::goodvibes
He is a little fighter!

:wave2: Hope you had a great day too. Mine was busy!

There are some great movies that really don't have any merchandise for them, that's true! That is the great thing about customs is getting something unique!
I appreciate the prayers, Emile is doing much better, thank you.

Glad to hear good news about Lisa!

We found out tht my son will graduate college the same day my youngest finds out if she gets her scholarship. Please pray that bethany will be awarded her scholarship!!

Thank you everyone for the well wishes for my family. My dad is doing okay, still don't know what is wrong though. Everyone is coping okay, they are staying at my dad's house for right now. The hardest part is the little one, she keeps asking to go home and sleep in her bed, none of us know how to tell her that it isn't there anymore.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone!

Elf on the shelf sounds like a lot of fun (and work :rotfl2:). So happy you are having a great time with it. :goodvibes

Scouting will definitely keep you busy! It seemed like we spent LOTS of time with those activities when the boys were younger. I always liked how our troops included the entire family.
Yeah, I'm not sure about grits. I like cream of wheat but don't like red river. I have a feeling grits are more like red river. But I will try almost anything once.
I do NOT like cream of wheat and am not familiar with red river. If you ever DO eat grits, make sure the person who cooks them knows how to prepare them. There IS an art to it.
He is a little fighter!
Praise God!
It is great that the village will be new and improved for new families.
We will have a great time even although our plans are changed :goodvibes

So TRUE!!

I am over the shock of it. I just never expected for it to NOT be open. :confused3

:wave2: Hope you had a great day too. Mine was busy!
May today be LESS busy!

I've never heard of a elf on the shelf before. It sounds like super fun (but lots of work :rotfl:)
TRUE!:thumbsup2

So glad to see you here. :goodvibes

Prayers that both of your children have peace in their hearts as a milestone day approaches and that Bethany receives her scholarship! What a blessing that will be. :goodvibes

I am happy your Dad is okay: I do hope they figure out what is going on quickly, I am sure the stress of the fire isn't helping. Glad your sister's family is staying at your Dad's, they have a difficult time ahead. It isn't easy rebuilding and the pain of losing so many things we take for granted hurts. It is a shock to your system, your way of life as you know it is destroyed, yet life for everyone else continues. I am so sorry about your niece. When our home burned down, Christian was 5. He didn't cry about his toys, he cried about his bed, it hurt him deeply. It is such a vulnerable time in their lives. I will continue to lift them in prayer. I am TRULY sorry! :grouphug: The blessing in it all is they are safe. Praise God. I know they don't feel like it now, but time WILL help the healing. I honestly thought I would never get past the pain of it, we lost so many precious memories. Very little was salvageable, we still look for items and have to think pre and post fire...but in the end, they WILL get through this. Help them if you can, let them grieve what they lost. If I can offer any advice, please let me know. The vultures WILL be out in full force. We are all praying! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

To each and every one of you who struggles (and who doesn't), I share this:

Sending positive thoughts and fervent prayers up for you all. :goodvibes

Thanks Judy! Right back at you!

E-mail sent with the pecan recipes and other information you asked about and a little more! ;)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

All this talk of grits and pecans is making me hungry! We had breakfast for dinner a few nights ago and grits were on the menu. Love me some grits with lots of butter and cheese. Tracy, you gotta try them!

Loved the positive thought quotes!! Happy Friday!!!

Sorry I missed your previous questions - DH is doing very well. Back to work since Oct 1st and getting stronger every day. We go back to the surgeon mid Dec and really interested in seeing how well the bone graft has taken.

Didn't make to Charlotte that weekend. My grandmother was in the hospital due to a mild stroke - thank goodness she is improving and it was very mild.

Have a great weekend!!!

When I last left you Pete, Lisa and I had just had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Christian, David, and Rachel were playing at Disney Quest. They had a wonderful time, we dropped them off just before opening (noon) and didnt pick them up until around 9:40 PM. I fed them a big breakfast and they had granola bars and water for snacks. They also each had a Disney Gift Card for food. For lunch they each chose a chicken fingers basket with fries and split a drink. According to all three, they were yummy and very filling. Later in the day they wanted to try a cupcake, so they split one and another drink. They each came home with money on their cards.

People often ask me if my children get along as well as I claim and if they actually like each other; as you can see from the pictures, the answer is yes. One of their favorite activities at DQ was Go Go Jungle Safari, a collaborative game. As Christian said we might butt heads on occasion; but, we always have each others back...what else could a Mom ask for?

They were too busy playing to take many photos; however, I do have a few foodie pics...I have taught them well, I am so proud....sniff sniff...:rotfl:

They had such a great time at DQ, they would like to go back. We have water park fun and more tickets left over so this is a no-brainer. Lisa would like to go to DQ this time and they are all happy about this. They actually convinced her how much fun she would have and she of course loves spending time with her siblings, so we have said yes. Pete, Tracy and I have no desire to go, spend the money etc...so we will have to figure out SOMETHING to keep us occupied :lmao:....any suggestions? popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::
