Once Upon A Time

I liked the last episode but it only raised more questions without answering anything.

Welcome to the wonderful world of TV created by the makers of LOST! It's actually one of the things I really like. It makes it more intriguing, but I can see some people getting turned off by that, just as it happened to LOST fans.

I still get the impression that both Regina and Mr. Gold know everything. I just think in the case of Regina she's kid of gotten complacent/smug about the whole thing, thinking that she's won and doesn't have to think about it much anymore whereas I think Gold still has some underlying master plan. I definitely got the feeling that he was toying with her with his responses at the end and the look on her face when he said 'please' dedinitely has me thinking that he knows but until know she had no idea that he knew at all and even now she's not sure that he does because his cryptic responses hinted at it without outright saying it.

I am definitely looking forward to more.

Just watched the second episode online. I'm liking it so far, and I hope it keeps going in this interesting direction.

I like Beth's theory on why the Queen hates Snow.

My theory so far - the Queen knows, Rumpel knows, but the Queen does not know that Rumpel knows (until the end of Ep 2 when he practically tells her with his "please"). I think he tells her just enough that she now realizes who Emma is (maybe).

In that scene he reveals that he did a favor for her - got her a child. I'm guessing, either
a) somehow Regina found out about Henry and asked Rumpel to get him for her to hold him as leverage, just in case (unlikely b/c she doesn't seem to know how important Emma is until the end of E2).

or b) unbeknownst to the Queen, he purposely got Emma's son in the hopes of getting her to Storybrooke in the future to break the curse (or just cause mischief). I'm not sure why he wants it broken, as he seems better off as BMOC in Storybrooke than in prison in Fantasy-land, but it IS supposed to be a place where only the Queen gets a happy ending, so there may be more to his current situation than we know.
ETA - I went back to watch the scene when he discusses the curse with Snow and Charming. He must want it broken because he uses phrases like OUR prison, WE will be trapped, OUR only hope.

My theory is the Queen is unable to have a happy ending due to the sacrifice made to cast the curse (void). Perhaps at some point she thought a child would fill the void, but obviously that isn't working.

Looking forward to more questions being raised...

Oh no!! I forgot it was on tonight! Is there anywhere to watch it online?
ABC.com has the new episodes on the day after they first air.

Anyone else enjoy seeing Maleficent make an appearance? She's my favorite villian!
No, I didn't like this mellowed out version of Maleficent. It was like she's just kicking back, enjoying her retirement or something.

I think since Rumpelstiltskin created the curse he is outside it
Where do curses come from? They have to be given to evil queens but Rumpel can make them himself? Are we sure that he didn't acquire the curse in some other previous bargain?

(to Candlz regarding Rumpel's memory) you were dead on! That's just what happened!
I'm not convinced. The only reason the Evil Queen agreed to his condition was that he reminded her that he wouldn't even remember their agreement after the curse. That he offered that bargain in the first place would lead us to believe that he knew something she didn't... something that we also do not know yet. Clearly, he *should* have lost his memory too. He seems to know more than anyone else does but I don't think the writers have given it away yet.

(and others) I think he's going to turn out to be the real bad guy and Regina may be redeemed before too long.
I like characters with some depth. It would be great if Regina turns out to have some good in her. One dimensional characters are only fun for a little while. But right now, the evil queen is seething and Rumpel's bargains are shallow. He seems like a puppet master that is in it for his own amusement more than some "purely evil" motive. It will be interesting to see how the characters develop.

After the last episode, I don't think Regina knows she is the EQ except on a subconscious level. Gold/Rumple, in my opinion, knows exactly how both worlds are connected and it seems to be fodder for his amusement.

I can see Regina/EQ being redeemed when its all over and done. Sort of like how Elphaba is redeemed in Wicked.

No. I don't see it. A woman who would kill her own father (whom she loved) just to be "happy" can never be redeemed. I am not sure which character knows what. I can see both sides of that.

I was also thinking that the whole thing could be in Henry's mind...that he is imagining the entire thing. Wouldn't that be just awful. :dance3:

I'm glad I found this thread. I really like this show. It has a good cast and good creators. I think that Regina knows everything but obviously can't let on to anyone that she knows. I am very interested to see what happens next.

Good theory except in Wicked Elphaba never does anything bad on purpose, her good intentions are just always misconstruded.

I like the idea that it all might be in Henry's mind. It would be a very Lost thing to do

1. I could not get over Maleficent being blond. But I did like her black unicorn-pony.

2. I think you ask an interesting question about curses. How Rumpel came to possess the curse could prove important and explain a lot. Or it could raise even more questions (probably this).

3. I went back and watched the scene since it seemed important, and SHE actually reminds him, "you realize if I succeed you won't remember any of this." He merely goes along with her, "oh, then what's the harm?" as if he does know something she doesn't.

I agree with you. "Great power requires great sacrifice." The "catch" of the curse is that the caster has to make such a terrible sacrifice that she can never have her own happy ending, even if she does manage to steal everyone else's away.

I would hate it if they pulled a "oh, haha, the kid really is just crazy. It was all pretend." Kinda invalidates all the time you invested into the show. I think it's a really crappy thing to do to your loyal audience, and frankly a lazy bit of writing.

The theories on this thread really make me wish it was Sunday and there was a new espisode already!

I just want to say I cracked up laughing when a certain heroine took a chainsaw to a certain villaness's prized apple tree:happytv: Gotta admire spunk like that.:worship:

I agree- Gold knows what's going on- I don't think Regina does....

Did you watch "Grimm"? If so, you might be right to be worried about that red leather jacket. ;)

GAH! I missed it! I knew I was going to!

The full episode is online though. Sweet!

Yep:love:Mine too. I am also hoping there will be a sleeping beauty story somewhere down the road.

There was a tiny Sleeping Beauty story, with the blonde evil queen, she was the evil queen from sleeping beauty.

I don't think Regina knows who she is

So, when they showed the previews for next week, it looked as though the Prince stabs the man (huntsman?/knight?) who is trying to kill Snow. Could that man be the love of Regina/Queen's life? And therefore, Snow is responsible for his death?

Also, in the first episode, Snow says "You're not the Queen anymore." So, I'm thinking the Queen had murdered the King by that point, in preparation to marry her love. (So, Snow is actually Queen as the heir, right?)

Anyone with me?
