Very sorry to hear that loveysbydesign. I hope you all get some relief very soon.

DW has been in the hospital here since Sunday... hope she gets out today. I'm (DH) is actually typing this from her hospital bed and she rests....

Just thankful we still have... 5 weeks before we go, to give her time to recover.

Sorry to hear about the health of you MIL. Try to call DCL, explain your situation, and see if you can get upgraded to a room that will fit your family. They might be able to help you. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

The problem is we don't have any extra $$$ to pay for an upgrade of any kind Due to house and car issues we are drained.
I don't know if I should call now or wait until she is released and gets the definite word about her traveling or not.

Thanks. Things are not looking so great. She is responding to the meds. but they found more clots in her leg and the one she has near her heart is very big. Not sure how many days it will take for it to dissolve. Even if she gets out of the hospital in a week we don't think she will be cleared for travel by Oct. 8th.

We are unfortunately thinking my in-laws will not be cruising with us
and if they don't go we don't go as we can only have 4 in our room...1 of our kids is booked in their room.

We don't have an extra $1100 to pay them for their part of the cruise. Right now I am trying to find 2 people in my family or friends who could potentially take their place but I don't even know if names/people can be changed at this point. We do have trip insurance but I'm not sure if we should cancel now, get 50% back from DCL and then file for the other 50% through trip ins. or if we should wait and then cancel and lose all $ from dcl and then file for trip insurance.
Very sad right now.

Prayers for all of you! I hope they can clear her for travel.

I do agree that you should contact Disney if she can not travel and explain the situation. Maybe they can offer up some pixie dust without you having to cancel the trip.

Would they allow you to transfer one kid over to another reservation? We only have 3 in our room... and it holds 4.

I called my TA and he said that he has never heard of Disney giving upgrades to a larger room to accommodate one cabin being canceled but that he would check into. it. He said the easiest thing to do is to find 2 other people to take their places but said it probably would be hard for me to find people willing to go on a cruise at the last minute for the $1100. He told me to give him a call back as soon as I hear any updates on my mil and that he would check into anything and everything he could in regards to getting us into some type of larger cabin at a discount.

Tngrl78 I didn't ask about bumping a child to another ressie but when I call back I will ask! If we can do that then I could sleep on the Q with my 2 youngest and my dh could have the sofabed and my oldest could sleep on the top bunk.

Thank you everyone. I also wanted to ask if for some reason we can not make the cruise could I mail me FE gifts to someone to hand out for us? TIA!

Our family has been under a lot of stress from a multitude of angles the past few months and this cruise was the thing we were so looking forward too. It won't be the same without my inlaws, not one bit, but my kids will be so crushed if we do not get to go. I just wish it had happened early enough that we could have bumped out our date.

Well we got our package documents for 1 cabin but not the other.

Getting them was very bittersweet as we got them in the mail after we returned from seeing my dmil in the hospital. The dr. was there with her when we got there. Her clot is larger then a quarter and is called a saddle clot as it is straddling both of the main lung pathways that go to her 2 lungs. She also has several clots in in her left leg so they had to insert some type of filter down through her jugular vein. My dmil asked him about traveling and he said he was highly doubtful she will be traveling any time soon. The medicine they gave her does not actually break up the clots but helps her body beign to dissolve the clots on their own.

We are still not quite sure what to do in regards to the cruise. Thankfull my dh and I are the main person on the ressies for the 2 cabins as we had rebooked these cabins when we were onboard the Magic in 2009. So hopefully that means if need be just dmil and dfil can cancel and we can still keep the 2 cabins without needing to pay extra money for going from 3 to 2 passengers in the 1 cabin and 4 to 3 in the other cabin. They do have trip insurance(although not through Disney) . We had each booked and piad for our own policies so even if they cancel we should still be able to cruise and they should be able to claim and get their $$$ back.

Feeling very torn right now as cruising without them just won't be the same...

Actually, my dh and I are the main adults listed for each of the cabins. When we rebooked on-board before, we booked 2 cabins with 1 person initially in each, dh booked 1 room and I booked the other. Then we added the kids at a later date and then we added dfil in dh's cabin and dmil with me in my cabin. They had us set up as the "boys" cabin and the "girls cabin.
Now of course we did not plan to sleep in the cabins that way, that's just how the TA booked us. Our 2 oldest children were planning to sleep 2 nights each on the top bunk with my in-laws.

I have a few concerns:
1. If we keep our ressies and my in-laws do not will we have to pay more?
2. If they do not come but we still do, will their trip insurance still reimburse them? I'm thinking it will as they have to cancel due to medical issues BUT the entire ressie wouldn't be canceled, just their individual booking would be so will they be reimbursed? If they will not be reimbursed them we will all cancel and both claim through our insurance I guess.

3. As far as it being less money...if we only have 2 people in a cabin then we have to pay 1st and 2nd person rates for that cabin, even if one is a child, whereas now we have 3 people and my in-laws count as a more expensive passenger since they are an adult and our child is cheaper. So when we take the adult out the child's rate will go up to what the adult rate was, so it will cost more.

Plus I will feel so guilty and sad to cruise without them but at the same time my kids have been looking forward to this cruise for 2 1/2 years.

No cruise docs for us yet... I guess they are winging their way over the ocean right now

We are are expecting 80 mile an hour winds for the next day or so here - the tail end of that hurricane

Crazy busy here at the moment.. DS moves to secondary school next year, so we're having to visit all the potential schools this week and next and complete application forms etc... plus all his clubs started back this week after the summer break so Moms back to being taxi again

My guest room looks like a bomb has gone off *** I now have a suit case open and stuff spread everywhere ready to pack

Will try to pop in more often and say hi

would lile to ask everyone to please keep my dmil in your prayers. She was just admitted to the hospital for blood clots in her lungs....this happens after we just made final payment yesterday on the pool home we are renting with them the week before the cruise.
