Once Upon A Disney Wish Live Updates

There are definitely some great improvements and some choices that seem odd to me. They seem to be ditching the concept of an adults-only district and spreading out the bars and venues over a few different areas. Both the pool deck and the lobby seem to be designed for deck shows and lobby parties, which is definitely cool. It is a little disappointing that they are axing Animators Palette, but with the Frozen restaurant and the Marvel restaurant being so "show" heavy it does not surprise me. Luna seems to be the next version of the D
Lounge, but it is considerably larger and two decks high. Also, the Hero Arena seems to be the next iteration of a sports court but it will be more advanced and interior, I am picturing an area similar to the SeaPlex on the RCCL Quantum ships. They are also ditching the concept of a large movie theater and instead are going to have two 100 seats smaller theaters.

I wasn't underwhelmed by the presentation, but nothing I saw makes me want to tell my TA "KILL WHOEVER YOU MUST TO GET ME BOOKED ON THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE SAILING!!", either.

I'll get to it when I get to it, y'know?

Agree, however, there's the "Disney hasn't released a new ship in a decade factor" for a lot of people. Couple that with the COVID shutdown and expect people are itching to book a new Disney ship.

I wonder how many platinums will be deterred from the inaugural sailing by the 20% non refundable deposit. I know I am.

You can at least see the dates for the 3 versus 4 night cruises (the maiden is a 5 night). It doesnt call out exactly where the stops will be when, but you should be safe assuming they're Nassau and CC.

Possibly something like a week out or what not to keep the momentum going in to bookings.

We were trying to make platinum before this point, and had a B2B booked last year that would have done it, but it looks like it wouldn’t have made much difference anyway in terms of priority. We’ll take a 4 night in June if we cant get on the Maiden voyage. We are however not disappointed by the ship at all. I didnt think they’d do anything too drastic of a redesign. I like the new lounge themes and restaurants. I’m going to wait and see on the adult pool area size, as this is just a render, it may be a little roomier in real life, but yes, they most certainly could have gone bigger.

Ship looks amazing, I can't wait to sail in 2023 as I already have two cruises booked next year and I'm not changing. Since we prefer longer cruises will probably do a B2B to make it a week.

Very exciting to see some new happy DCL stuff for a change.

The new ship looks really nice. I love the changes to the adult-only area. Love the Star Wars lounge. Daughter loves the Marvel dinning. Love the look of the 1923 dinning. Love the staterooms. It looks like they found a nice balance between classy and Disney stuff for the whole family.

Disappointed that they are duplicating Aladdin as entertainment. Seriously? It isn't if there is a shortage of material to work form. Disappointed that the max cruise length is 4 days. Somewhat disappointed there is nothing really innovative about the ship, beyond maybe the waterslide, which is pretty cool. On the other hand, I will take classy old-school feel over innovative just to be innovative. Glad there doesn't appear to be a lot of upgrade type of stuff.

I am thinking some sort of 2023 trip combining WDW and a 4 day cruise, but won't be jumping at at a 2022 trip as I would prefer a longer cruise over a shorter cruise on the new ship and we already have WDW booked in 2022. But I will want to see it sometime in the next few years.

All in all, it was a fun introduction to the ship.

Did the Fantasy start with shorter cruises? How long did it take to start 7-day cruises?

That's true. Just speaking for myself, I will be happy to be on any Disney ship when things get cranking again, so I don't really need or want to worry about the charnel house that will be the Wish's opening day.

Especially since my 7-cruise Gold status apparently puts me on no better footing than a 1-cruise Silver in terms of booking priority. 😐

Good idea. I didn't think of B2B. Even a 4-day cruise sounds like a recipe for disappointment for me. 7-days is already too short.

Where do you see that?

On the available cruise filters for "Find A Cruise," you can limit sailings to just "Disney Wish" and see about 32 sailings listed. It appears to be a 5-day inaugural cruise, and then, as we all expected, the Dream's former 3- and 4-day milk runs.

I like the change to two movie theaters. It will give us more of a chance to find something we want to watch. And I think they're by the Walt Disney Theater now?? That means concessions will be open more often, right?

Yup.... I wonder (no pun intended) what this means for the Dream?? Just planning to do two sets of these "milk runs?" I sure hope not.

Same, we have a b2b booked on the Europe for summer 2022 so looking forward to booking the Wish for spring break or summer 2023.
