Once in a Lifetime Honeymoon!!! UPDATED!!!

Really enjoying your reports ~ Can't wait to read more.

Still enjoying your report!! Cirque is changing??? You're right, there is so much going on. We've seen it four times (taking new people with us everytime) and I think I've finally seen just about everything in the show.

I'm sorry you had that bad experience in what has otherwise been a magical trip, judging by your report. Can't wait to read about the rest of it!

Such a great report!
I can't wait to read more.
I am going on my honeymoon soon. You are giving me great ideas of things to do.
I am glad you had a magical time!

Congratulations to you both!! Loved your pics and am enjoying your report (glad that disciplinary action was taken on that driver). I'd love to stay at the Poly sometime too - we went to the Polynesian Revue in 1997 (12 of us in our party) and had a blast! Sounds like you are having a great time so far and can't wait for the rest :Pinkbounc

Me and my Wife was there at the Poly on the 22-29 of May. They gave us an upgrade garden veiw to the concierge garden veiw. It was perfect we were on the third floor as well.Glad you injoyed the rooms there as much as we did!

Sunday, May 21st

Today is the day when we are supposed to meet Jeff’s parents for a day of fun at Animal Kingdom. His folks live in Lady Lake, Florida, and his dad in particular is a total Disney nut!! He goes as often as he can, though in the last few years, they’ve cut back, because Jeff’s mom has a lot of physical problems, and she hasn’t been able to keep up as well. Neither of them have ever stayed at the Poly, so we were excited about showing them around.
Jeff was in a fit all morning! It was funny to watch him; he paced back and forth, kept checking his cell phone, and repeated, “They said they were going to call? When are they coming? It’s nearly 8, why haven’t they called yet?” We were scheduled for breakfast at Kona at 9 AM, so we had plenty of time, but he was just nervous about them finding the hotel. Geez, it’s right by Magic Kingdom, it’s hard to miss, there are signs everywhere!! But he kept nagging me to head to the lobby, so eventually, we did. And hark! They were pulling up just as we went out to the parking lot to look for them. Nice timing. Ever notice families tend to have that sixth-sense thing going? I know I do, with my mother and sisters… we eat the same meals on the same nights and rent the same movies, even though we live thousands of miles apart. Weird. Anyhoo, we all headed to Kona for breakfast, and we were a bit early, but got in anyway. Food was just as good, though we didn’t enjoy our waiter as much. He wasn’t very attentive.
We finished eating, and showed them our concierge room, which REALLY impressed them… they loved the new décor and the view… and we got a kick out of his father’s reaction to concierge level service (“Really? You can eat all day? And you don’t pay for the food? They just… give it to you?”).
It was beginning to sprinkle as we waited for the bus, but it was nothing heavy, and by the time we got to Animal Kingdom, we were glad of it. It was a hot day!! I totally believe you guys now when you say AK is hotter than the other parks… it was stifling. Pretty busy, too. Jeff ran for fastpasses to Everest, while his parents and I made our way to the Lion King show. I was really excited about this… I’d heard so many good things about it. Jeff rejoined us in line, and his father began instructing us on which section to sit in. When we were directed into the stadium, the CM in charge pointed us at one section, but his father refused. HE wanted to be a warthog. “Please move along,” she kept saying; we were all so embarrassed. No, he wanted to be a warthog. So as soon as the CM was turned away, he darted over to the warthogs!! Blatant disregard for CM authority! LOL We were all dragged along, and I was hiding my face lest any Dis’er saw me, and reported us to the Dis police. But the show was great, and Jeff and I really got into making warthog noises and moving our fingers like tusks. His father looked at us like we were nuts, but his mum was great, she snorted along.
After, we grabbed fastpasses for the safari, and saw It’s Tough to be a Bug, which was fun and more than a little gross. The best part about that show is the line… it gives you a great angle for seeing the Tree of Life. We all rode the Safari (I don’t understand why people don’t utilize fastpass… the wait was like, 2 hours, and people snarl at you as you walk by in the fastpass line). Safari was great, though it was mid-day already, and the animals were scarce. I would love to go again in the early morning or late afternoon when things are cooler, and the animals are out.
Jeff’s dad was dying to see Expedition Everest, so we headed there as soon as we could. His mum sat this one out, and it’s probably best that she did. What a great ride!! It’s short, but Disney’s very god about making such good rides that you don’t care if they are short or not. Very cool ride. I wanted to shop the Everest store after, but his dad was not too keen on waiting, so off we went.
Dinosaur was kind of disappointing… I really enjoyed some of it, but it just wasn’t what we’d expected. It still startled me a couple of times! I like that. I really wanted to stay and do the rest of the park, but his folks were getting tired, so we went to Rainforest Café for an early dinner. The food was really good, though a little pricey for the quality.
Oh, gosh, I forgot about this. Okay, my DH is 43. He is very fit, very trim, and ridiculously strong. I can’t stress this enough. He is 5’ 5”, he weighs about 150 lb, and it’s all muscle, not a sliver of fat anywhere. Unlike me… sigh… anyway. We were standing in line waiting for the bus to take us back to the Poly, and a couple of young men in their 20’s stood behind us, and they were chatting about their workout. You know, buff young guys with silly muscle shirts… I was writing in my journal, and I vaguely overheard Jeff chatting with them about his army training 20 years ago. Before I knew it… all three of them were propped on the railings, doing pushups!!! What a testosterone fest. I started laughing, but to my surprise, those boys could NOT keep up! They started getting all pink in the face, and panting, and they just… gave up. Jeff’s up there, pounding them out, and the boys are staring at him. “Dude, you’re good,” one of them said, and Jeff bounced off the railing, grinning, not even breaking a sweat. I was shaking my head; good grief, does one have to prove one’s virility at WDW? But it made him feel good, and that made me smile. Boys.
We lazed about the rest of the evening… watched Wishes from the beach at the Poly. I’ll never ever get tired of seeing Wishes from the beach at the Poly. Most romantic thing I’ve ever done. Highly recommended.

Tomorrow… Oh!! Our dinner at the Chef’s Table!! Victoria and Alberts!!

btw... we never did find DeVine.

Sounds like a beautiful wonderful trip, so looking forward to the Poly in a few weeks , you have made it sound magical, keep up the great writing,

Monday, May 22nd

Today was another “day off”, of sorts, though we packed it full of great activities! We ate in concierge for breakfast, and since we’d made our follow-up appointment with Nancy from DVC that afternoon, we decided to take the morning to enjoy a few of the things we were hoping to get in on this trip.
First of all, we finally went for a morning swim in the Volcano pool. This was extremely refreshing, and Jeff loved the slide. It wasn’t full to bursting yet, since the morning was still pretty new, and we easily got a little table to sit at and enjoy a nice drink. There’s something so special about the Poly in the early morning. It’s so peaceful… you can sit on the beach or by the pool, and listen to the music wafting over from Magic Kingdom as it opens up. The lake is sparkling and inviting, and the day holds so much promise!!
I’d promised Jeff a boat rental if we stayed at the Polynesian, we had some time to kill, so this was the perfect moment. The sun was out, there was a lovely breeze… and the boaters were already out. We rented one of those little raycers, which was fun for a bit, but it soon sputtered and died. We had this happen three times in the course of an hour and a half, and soon, we were laughing about it. But it was the perfect day for boating. What a thrill to be able to zoom around the lagoon and make our way over to the Wilderness Lodge (where we’d be spending the last 3 nights of our trip). I kept letting my hand trail in the water as we sped along, and then jerking it back inside, worried about alligators!!! I know it’s silly… but heck, it would sure suck to lose a couple fingers at WDW. By the way, it is true, if you want to go fast, rent 2 boats, not 1. Jeff was disappointed in the speed of the little boat, since we had both of us in one. We did have to change boats 3 times, but when we brought our last one back, we noticed that a lot of boats had been brought back, and the CM’s said that there was some kind of problem with them. So we weren’t the only ones, and they gave us a huge discount for our trouble.
After, we had our meeting with Nancy, which I’ve already told you about, and the DVC van dropped us off at Downtown Disney. We paid a trip to DisneyQuest, which Jeff likes a great deal, and I can take or leave. I’m not much of a gamer, and a lot of the games make me sick at my stomach, but we had the extra day, so we might as well use it! I always enjoy the drawing/creative portion anyway. We had lunch, since we were starving, but I was reluctant to eat too much, since our BIG dinner was coming up that evening! I’m so excited!! Jeff went back to the games, but I excused myself on a pretense, and ran down to World of Disney. He’d been looking at watches every since we got here… he’s a big Mickey lover, and he wanted a Mickey watch. I wanted to get one to give to him this evening during dinner.
Oh, I found such a lovely watch. It was a rather formal piece, all stainless steel with a brushed Mickey head in the background… hard to explain, but very nice and subtle. Got a discount with my AP, and I walked out a happy Kitty. Of course, when he joined me, he wanted to go to world of Disney to look for watches, but I assured him that I looked, and they didn’t have anything he’d like. He was peeved at me for not letting him shop, but I made a big deal about getting back to the bus on time. This made him even surlier.
Got back to the Poly (boy, those busses are efficient!!), bemoaned the fact that we’d be missing sushi night in concierge, and started getting ready for dinner!!
As we were leaving for Victoria and Alberts, Jeff started complaining about not having a watch to wear to dinner, so I gave up and gave him his gift early. He really loved it. I was prepared if he wanted to take it back, get something different, but he’d never seen this one, and he said he’d have picked it out himself. Yay!!
We also realized halfway there that he’d forgotten his dinner jacket… ARGH!! So he had to wear the house jacket. It looked great on him anyway. As we entered the dining room, we paused, and the harpist, per my request, played “Baby Mine,” Jeff’s favorite song. He cried. I like that my man’s sensitive. He can also do more pushups than is right and proper for a human being.
We were led through the dining room, back into the kitchen, and there it was!! The Chef’s Table. This was an experience of a lifetime. Please, please, DO NOT MISS IT. If you can do it, if you can find any way to do it, DO IT. What an evening. The food… there are no words for the food. The English language, though expressive and beautiful, does not have words for how wonderful the food is. The service… the care… oh. You must do it.
Full details in a dining report to come.
After dinner, which took a good 3 hours, we stepped outside to walk the beach. Jeff wanted to take the monorail back, but I wanted to walk the beach from the Floridian to the Poly, which is what we did. He was glad, too, because the sand was so soft, and we’d taken our shoes off… Wished started as we neared our resort, and the music was being piped in. We watched a few ducks waddling along the sand, flapping in the water… has anyone else ever noticed that it looks very much like they are having conversations? We watched them for a while, and we were convinced they were chatting just as sure as we were. Arrived finally at the Poly, and we threw ourselves into beach chairs to watch the rest of the show. This was a perfect evening. I’m craving that chocolate pyramid now.

Tomorrow, we are finally going to Islands of Adventure, and we’ll see if the “other” park can redeem itself in our eyes.

:thumbsup2

sounds wonderful!!!

looking forward to more!!!

(oh, and congrats!!!)

WOW! What a wonderful report. Looking forward to the rest.

What a wonderful trip report!

I so wish my DF was into Disney the way your DH is. He is also quite a bit older than I and has no interest in Disney at all :sad2:

Oh well thankfully my mom and son love WDW :thumbsup2

BTW - We felt the same way about SeaWorld that you did about Universal. So hot and so not Disney - my son loved it but it was a done that been there kind of deal to me.
