I would like to take advantage of the onboard booking insentive DCL offers. The problem is, we won't be cruising agian until 2014 or even 2015.

I know they have released the dates for the 1st part of 2014, but what if I want to cruise in the later half? Can I book a dummy date, and then when they release the rest of the year, move the reservation, but still hold on to the discounts and stateroom credit?

This is something I will be interested to find out also, so Bump up to hopefully get an answer. :thumbsup2

I am wondering about this as well. Does anyone else have experience moving a dummy date to the following year? TIA

Unfortunately, DCL has changed/updated the parameters of the rebook on board incentive.

I haven't rebooked onboard for any unannounced cruise periods, but I know that if you book a 'dummy' date and change it- although you might retain your 10% discount, you'll lose any OBC that was part of the rebook.

I'm sure that someone with more experience will be answering up shortly.

HTH....

I heard about his, too. Does anybody know if the new rules also apply to dummy cruises that had been booked before the changes?

I could be wrong, but I don't believe that's the case.

Disney used to offer tiered incentives based on your Castaway Club status. If you had an onboard booking made before they changed to offer a straight $100 or $200 SBC - and you change it, you'd lose the tiered SBC offer and switch to the $100 or $200 SBC - depending on the length of the cruise.

I believe that's still the case.

So if you book onboard today, you'll get a 10% discount and an SBC in the amount of $100 for 3 - 6 night sailings and $200 for sailings of 7 nights or more, and that's irrespective of Castaway status. And if you change it, you'll keep those same benefits. The SBC will adjust based on the length of cruise as well.

No SBC is offered for suites, concierge level rooms, 1-2 night sailings, or IGT/OGT/VGT bookings.

When i first heard rumors that you would lose your OBC or your 10% discount if you rebooked, I called DCL. They assured me neither would be lost if I rebooked. The only thing that is lost: if you booked under the "old" system for OBC (where gold got more then silver for example) then you would lose the extra $. Otherwise you will be keeping whatever OBC you would normally get if you were booking on board today and still getting the10% discount

The other thing to consider is using a TA. From what I understand, you MUST give the TA information when booking, or else the TA will not be able to give you the full amount if you transfer your res to them at a later time.

That said, does anyone know if I must give them the full TA name/number or is the company enough? For example I currently am booked via AAA due to a higher incentive since I signed on during Disney month - I get a gift card instead of OBC, but it's the same as I would have gotten from Dreams Unlimited, but I also get the AAA photo package. So when I go in August, and I book a future cruise, I would probably like to have DU take it, but I don't have a person's name. Maybe I'll give them a call...

You can just list DU as your TA when you book on board. DU will then assign you a TA. If you have a recommendation and want to pick someone specific, you can do that as well.

Our DU TA is Beth Czada and she is fabulous (as are many others with DU). I am sure you will get a big list of recommendations from the DISsers. :thumbsup2

There have not been any dates released for 2014 on DCL yet.

This is not the case. What happens is that if you move your cruise date you will get whatever the OBC incentive is at the time you move your reservation. This currently affects those who booked before the last change in March 2012 when the tiered OBCs were changed to a straight amount for all onboard bookings. If you are platinum and had an OBB with a $350 OBC and move that OBB, you will only have a $200 OBC with the reservation after you change it. Gold would drop from $275 to $200.

I'm confused I changed my on board booking to concierge once I was on land. I was told I would lose the 10% discount and half deposit but would still receive the OBC?

Can someone onboard book a future cruise for themselves and book for extended family (for the same future cruise) but the extended family is not on current cruise?

I knew that someone else would know more than I did... :)
However it did generate more replies- which is good!!!

Thanks for setting me straight...:thumbsup2

Yes. You can book two rooms for the same date and you do not even have to book anyone in them who is on the current cruise. If you were to move one of the rooms to a different date, that reservation would lose all OBB incentives.

So, I can book a future cruise for someone who has never cruised DCL before, and they would get the same incentives that I would, as far as 10% off and 10% down?

Good question! I'd like to know the answer, too!

Yes, and the OBC as well. This is the loophole that I think DCL should have stopped, not limiting the number of cruise dates that a legitimate CC member could book with the OBB benefits for their own personal use.

Note....if you book for someone not on the cruise for the same future cruise date as you...and they change their cruise date to a different future cruise....they will lose the benefits. They MUST sail the same future cruise as you.
