I need some honest answers here. My DH, DD9, DD11, DNephews 9 & 11 are going to be in WDW in Dec. Last time we went I chickened out of the TOT, with good reason, my oldest daughter did not want to ride the TOT either. Well, this year I am out of luck because everyone wants to ride the ride and are insisting that I go on it with them. :faint: Is it really that bad, or do the belts do a pretty good job of holding you in that you really dont feel the drops as bad as you think you will???

To be honest, I think ToT is not as bad as people tell. I rode for the first time last summer, mind that I've been going to WDW for 13 years, and it was great! I was shaking the whole time throughout the ride queue and screamed my head off when we were watching the video in the small room, but thats just because I'm scared to death of thunder and lightning. The ride was so much fun though. You're totally safe in the safety bars and yes, you do come off your seat when you drop, but slightly. I suggest trying it. If you like it- thats awesome! But if you weren't crazy about- thats fine too! At least you can say you rode it finally, and its not like you'll ever have to go on again.

Hope all that helped! And enjoy your trip, I'm suppper jealous. This will be the first summer I haven't gone to WDW in 13 years, and I'm only 15...:worried:

It's not as bad as they make it out to be. In all honesty, the worst part about it is that you never know how many drops there are or for how long the ride will last. It's worth trying it I think

I had skipped this ride on previous trips. I'm not sure why, except I've done rides where they take you to the top and drop you all the way down and I was a little unsure about this one. Now when it comes to rides, I love roller coasters, and the faster and more twist and turns and drops, the better. But I still skipped this one. This time DW and all three DSs (even the youngest) were excited about riding it. I was hesitant still, but this time I justified it in my head that this was the first time riding rides after being put on BP medicine. But I finally decided....hey, just go for it.

It was great! You don't have the really long drops so much. You actually go up and down many times.....sometimes a short distance, and sometimes more. You do come up off the seat some, but the front of the ride is a mirror, and you can see yourself the whole time. I probably spent more time laughing at what I saw more than anything else.

All I can say is go for it. I think you will find that all the worry was a waste of time and you will be glad you rode it.....and head for the line to ride it again.

i did it the one year when my husband literally forced me kicking and screaming to ride it. i knew i didnt like these kids of rides, as ive done them before. i personally dont care for it. but i hate that stomach in your throat feeling, even when driving.

but, my 8yo dd loves it and would ride it all day if i let her.
i think what leads to the "fright" on this one is you are in the dark and you get quick glimpses of how high you are. without that feature, you probably wouldnt think it was that bad.
oh and if youve never waited in the que, at least do that, its great scenery.

Well, I'm probably the wrong person to be responding to this post, but it's really not bad at all. If you end up liking it and want more air time, lift up your feet on the drop, it'll feel like free fall. There's also some pretty good CM's there that stay in character.

I love the themeing, but I do not care for that dropping sensation at all. I don't like tasting my large intestine as I fall.

Well, i went on it for my first time in March. My cousin made me go on it with her, and was making me feel guilty if i didnt go on. I PROMISED i would never ever go on it EVER. But as soon as a got on I was pumped and ready to go. Then we got to the point of the ride where you drop, and i was laughing and screaming the whole time! I had so much fun! It really isnt THAT bad. And now the ride that I was scared to death of, is one of my favorite rides in Disney World! I hope this helped somewhat. :wizard:

My brother, who is in his 40s, HATES thrill rides. He said that he likes ToT, even though he always feels like he will die. Is is the only thrill ride he does in Disneyland.

Hope that helps a little.

Oh ToT... It makes so many people shy away. First off, let me say - similarly to Jones, I am EXTREMELY biased being the Tower fanatic that I am. However, in all honesty, I can COMPLETELY understand how people can be petrified of this ride. When I first went on it, I was 12 years old and I couldn't stand it. I was petrified of the falling sensation and swore to never go on the ride again. NOW, I find myself after twelve years being a ToT maniac. I really just cannot get enough of this ride. I don't know what it is. I truly believe that it is WELL worth a ride (if only to see the queue). However, if you are a first timer and easily scared, my suggestion is try not to let the theming easily scare you. It is VERY easy to get sucked into the Hollywood Tower Hotel universe and start believing some of the things that you hear. If you can get past this, its all about the anticipation of the first drop. After that drop, just scream your head off, hold on tight and you have gotten through the ride. Who knows, you might end up like me, falling in love with it and watching the ride through online every day. lol. Good luck. :goodvibes
