On site or not- the never ending debate

We have stay on and off and ON site is so much better!!!!!! You still feel the magic staying on site!!!

Lots of good reasons have been given for staying on-site, but the biggest practical reason is simple - TIME. You'll save LOTS of time by being on-site. And on vacation, time is money. Why waste it just getting to and from your room?

You can drive to the theme parks, other than the MK, from many of the closer offsite properties faster if you used the bus service from the value and moderate resorts. The drive from the Caribe Royale to EPCOT is less than the 15 minutes you might wind up waiting for a bus.

If you're staying at a deluxe hotel and can walk to a theme park you have a good point.

I would only stay on-site - too many reasons to list.

I cannot think of a single advantage to staying off site, especially with children. Some may say price (Rent dvc points - $10/pt average) & some may say size (I say OKW - DVC) and some may say location (I say epcot resorts (BC/BW) - walk to epcot and studios).

DVC allows you the luxuries and comforts of home (and then some) while being onsite. You can save a bundle (cook meals in room, no rental car needed) by renting points and getting the best accomodations wdw has to offer but only paying the rates of an economy/moderate hotel. Check out the DVC rental board here for information and/or feel free to PM me if you like. In case you are wondering, yes I am a DVC member, but I would not rent my points (luckily for non-members, many members do).

I do not have any children but have stayed on and off-site several times w/ family or DBF. My last trip I was even debating back and forth bc of the money issue. I did not want to stay in all stars bc I didnt want to be stuck on double beds. So I figured I'd stay off site to get a bigger room at a better price. That was the plan for several months and went back and forth between 5 different off-site hotels. Yeah those Disney feelings took over me after a while. I finally decided I couldnt resist staying on-site. We stayed at the CBR this past Oct. and loved every minute of it. We prefer to rent a car even if we are on site so transportation wasn't really an issue. However, it is such a great feeling knowing you are so close to everything and being surrounded by Disney! I am going back this Sept again and I don't think I'll ever stay off site again! :earsgirl:

Yup, we can walk to Epcot and MGM from BWV. We drive to AK, MK, DTD (it takes a lot less than 15 min.). We use the buses occasionally, but not often. But honestly, even with that, we've had good luck on the buses.
